antiX-21 (Grup Yorum) released

antiX-21 (Grup Yorum) is based on Debian Bullseye and is fully systemd-free.

As usual we offer the following systemd-free flavours for both 32 and 64 bit architecture, running sysVinit or runit. The 32 bit versions use a non-pae kernel.

antiX-full (c1.4GB) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm plus full libreoffice suite. x64 versions come with 2 kernels. Legacy 4.9 and Modern 5.10

antiX-base (<<800MB – fits on 800MB cd) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm.

antiX-core (c440MB) – no X, cli-installer without encryption, but should support most wireless.

antiX-net (c180MB)- no X, cli-installer without encryption. Just enough to get you connected (wired) and ready to build. For experts.

Note 1: runit editions now set up in a similar way to Void/Artix.
Users should be prepared to familiarize themselves with how runit services work

Note 2: After installation of antiX-21_x64-full editions, the default kernel will be the Modern 5.10 one even if Legacy 4.9 was booted during the live boot.

  1. follow-up:
Note that this problem was encountered with the ‘runit’ flavour of AntiX21; I haven’t checked the standard flavour..
This seems to be caused by inheriting an existing a home directory from an existing Linux Directory. Workaround is thus easy, but I think it ought to be fixed asap.

  2. Please give instructions on how to verify antiX-21_x64-full.iso.
i have spent 2 hrs trying to verify this ISO.
    Is this a good ISO?

  3. Hey Bruce. I’m a total novice, so take this with a grain of salt, but I skipped that step and everything worked out fine. I believe it’s a good thing to do for security purposes, but I wouldn’t kill yourself over it. Just my two cents.

  5. Hi,
I am trying to make use of a HP Pavilion – X2, with 1.33 Ghz, 2GB of RAM and 32GB SSD. I looked into some 32 bit distros and antiX looks the one that I like.
I setup a VirtualBox on it and had an ISO.
I would like to install it for good and it doesn’t work. It asks for an admin password or it doesn’t do anything – while running in the VM.
I also tried to burn the image on a USB stick and managed to damage 2 of them – my laptop can’t see them anymore.
What do you advise guys? What’s your take on this?
I am learning about linux, so quite a beginner.

    Thanks
