Here we go again. Sound has been the bane of Linux since its conception.
My desktop AMD desktop has MX-16, Win7, and AntiX-17 multi-booting. All through the beta tests with antiX-17 I had no problems. This morning I was checking my mail and chilling to some YouTube songs. I decided to do the normal “apt-get update & apt-get dist-upgrade” this morning. The only item shown was “wget” which updated without incident. I shut down antiX for a few minutes because I had to do some work in win7. Rebooted machine and went back into antiX-17. NO SOUND??
I rebooted machine, trying both MX-16 and Win7 for sound. No problems. But antiX-17 still has no sound.
My motherboard has the built-in ATI HDA sound which is what I normally utilize. (My Nvidia video card uses its own for HDMI.) I use Chromium for online browsing. I have checked my setting in volume control and nothing seems to have changed. And no I do not have PulseAudio installed. Now I’m puzzled.

A great mind is something to get terribly wasted.
