I am playing with my 32-bit systems today and on this machine when I look at the inxi report I see it says
base: Debian GNU/Linux bookworm/sidand I am wondering what that actually means for this particular system. When I installed this system I used antiX-19 and the “testing” repos. I sometimes get confused about what I am running and have mentioned that I am running a “Sid” system in the past. But my repos are the “testing” repos and not “sid”. So, I thought I am actually running Debian and antiX Testing.
So, this report confuses me somewhat. Why is it reporting that it is “bookworm/sid”?
If my repos are Testing do I automatically update to Sid when the version changes from Debian 10 to Debian 11? I’ll do some research and try to read up on this myself. But this subject of testing and sid has always confused me. Does anyone care to give me an explanation of why the inxi report says Sid but my repos are Testing?
Thanks,

I am very impressed with the speed and overall look and feel.
Just one problem has emerged. Whilst synaptic appears to work fine, the built-in software installer and cli-aptiX do not, the latter starts with a message that at least one list file is missing, and offers to run apt update to fix this – except it doesn’t, I just get the same error message again. I can only assume this is why aptix’s own software installer is not working? – it runs briefly, then closes, having installed nothing.
I would like to install a number of the lightweight versions of software listed by the software installer, not all of which appear to be listed by synaptic.
The list files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d are:
antix.list
debian.list
teamviewer.list
bullseye-backports.list
debial-stable-updates.list
various.listIs there anything obviously missing?
Thanks in anticipation

dukesterantiX-21 ships with elogind and libelogind0 on the iso.
For probably most users, this is just fine and it enables users to install various desktop-environments as they please without issue.Users can easily replace elogind for consolekit or seatd and remove libelogind0.
Here’s how on antiX-21-full.1. Temporarily, add dev to the antix.list in /etc/apt/sources.list.d
deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/bullseye bullseye main nonfree nosystemd devNO LONGER NECESSARY TO DO THIS STEP2.
sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgradeDo not blindly press Enter. Check that nothing important will be removed.
3.
sudo apt install seatd4. Now we can remove elogind. Check nothing important gets removed. This will also install libpolkit-gobject-consolekit-1-0
sudo apt purge *elogind*5. Check that all is working especially printing, scanning (assuming it all worked before making the changes above).
Also check mounting usb devices, bluetooth etcNote: You should be able to install xfce4 and lxde without libelogind0
You will not be able to do install MATE, KDE/plasma, Gnome (shudder) without libelogind0 getting installed.
Many apps in Debian are packaged (IMO wrongly) with libsystemd0/libelogind0 as a hard dependency so installing apps may also bring libelogind0 back.
I’m not going to rebuild all of Debian’s packages, only a select few.Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

Hi everyone,
Since a day I am a proud user of antiX 21 🙂
I have done all updates and rebooted several times but unfortunately I still have a problem. My screen turns on and off every many times (in a fraction of a half second).
Sometimes not for a minute but sometimes 3 times in a row.
How can I best solve this? The details of my laptop are:

Before moving our latest build of connman 1.40 to the main repos, we need to make sure it works without issues.
We need testers running live/frugal and installed for 32 and 64 bit, for antiX-19, antiX-21(b), testing and sid users.
1. Temporarily, add dev to the antix.list in /etc/apt/sources.list.d eg for buster (antiX-19)
deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/buster buster main nonfree nosystemd devfor antiX-21
deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/bullseye bullseye main nonfree nosystemd dev2. Assuming connman is already installed – to get the latest (it will also install connman-iptables) simply
sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade3. Report here your findings, giving details of your antiX set up eg antiX-21-runit (32bit) frugal.
Hopefully, connman updates smoothly and the network works as before. Thanks
