Good morning! (it’s morning in NYC)

Last night my new install of Antix19.4 was working on my Lenovo T500. This morning, on boot, I got the error message

Unable to create an interface to connman on the system bus.
CMST will not be able to communicate with connman.

        resulting in no internet access.

Google wasn’t much help and I looked into this forum, checking that recommended commenting out wasn’t necessary, but still with the issue.

I have several small issues as I migrate to Antix but this one is new this AM and its something of a roadblock. I’ve looked on the forum and see a similar problem that someone had with wifi but I’m using eth0 and suggestions there didn’t apply.

Relevant dmesg -T text available at

        https://mega.nz/file/5EE21TpJ#QRD1gVwmi26nitfXPOg58RDn3xRhbmSiWKbjiS3SZMQ

        Any help would be welcome.

        Thanks,

        Alan

          roland

All hardware in this build was newly bought, and the Comfast PCIe wifi adapter is for me a known quantity, I have 2 PCs built using it. It is necessary to use a kernel in the 5.xx range for the chipset and driver to be known in the headers.

I have recently experienced invalid signatures when running updates, which appear at first sight to be unrelated to comms. issues.

I am unwilling to run a reinstall unless on the buffers because this PC presented problems in setup and I prefer not to repeat the solutions, if indeed I could remember them all.

Ethernet cable connexion has never been used as the router is too far away. I used a plug-in Usb wifi adapter to get the initial updates done, which connected hotplug. Optic fibre router is a ZTE Corporation item supplied by the service provider which has been in use nearly a year without trouble.

My system is now stable and connects automatically when the wifi network is already running. If not running then becomes available, hotplug connection is usually not made. If I try to push things along by running Ceni manually, trouble usually starts, with a soft blocked interface wlan1, and related files present in /run/wpa_supplicant. This does not surprise me as they should be there if a hotplug connection is to succeed.

A am waiting for news of changes or improvements to Connman, but having already failed with it caution prevails.

Just for understanding: Is this about “chipset” indeed, which would mean Northbridge and Southbridge, or is this about a GPU chipset found in the graphics adapter? I ask this because… I use also a computer equipped with SIS chipset (K7s5a board, with SIS 735 Chipset). And I don’t see any problems running default antiX, at least in live mode from CD/DVD, even using “fromusb” and persistence. BUT this PC doesn’t have a SIS/VIA graphics adapter. Instead it had installed originally a fast Nvidia graphics adapter, which had to be replaced due to breakdown not long ago, and it was changed to a simple AMD graphics device. antiX worked flawlessly as well with nVidia GPU as also with AMD GPU. So I reckon, the problems described cover the use of an SIS/VIA graphics adapter? I’m a bit confused by the thread title, pointing to “chipset”. Why don’t I see the same problems?

(this inxi report was not taken recently, hence it shows 17.4 antiX still:)

And yes, this PC is capable of everyday productive usage, without limitation, being 20 years old, 32bit single core. Originally running on “Windows 2000 prof”, it slowed down with every system update from some point of time. Finally Microsoft stopped support for their NT5.0/NT5.1 operating systems (aka 2000/XP) completely (at least when you are not a big company or government), and I replaced it by Linux, making the PC work again, as fast as I was used to before they started to slow it down by their upgrading policy. Some years later, some of the ubuntu updates also slowed down the PC noticeably. And then the day came, Canonical told me I couldn’t apply next security update anymore, they sacked support of this PC. This was when I found antiX. And this very PC ran again like a young colt… fast as ever before. So I simply say: thank you!

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

                Hi @reymon,

                Maybe first try

                sudo apt autoremove

                Then
delete the .wine directory in /home.
                Then
                sudo apt update

I would make sure that the antix repos are recognized during the sudo apt update.
Then try again to install wine

sudo apt install wine wine32 wine64

Hope this helps. Others may know more to help.

Tried the steps you’ve suggested, same problem.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine32:i386 : Depends: libwine:i386 (= 4.0-2) but it is not going to be installed

                inxi -r

And also show the different sources for wine and wine32
                apt policy wine wine32

I was able to install wine and wine32 on a live 64-bit antiX 19.4 full (default repos), so I am hoping you should also be able to do so.

Of course, I’d really like to solve this.
                Here is the output:

Bug Report – all sources list get mangled after update on Live USB with persistence when selecting a timezone before boot.

                  ISO: antiX bullseye-beta1 (runit)
System: Live USB with persistence – UEFI

Selected Boot parameters (from live grub menus):
                  Timezone: Europe/Berlin
                  Kernel:4.9
                  Persistence: persist_root
                  Save: grubsave

Issue: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* files’ content get mangled (it tries to add the same antix mirror to almost all lines)

How to reproduce: Set the previous boot options described above and boot the system. Update all packages and, when asked, replace antix.list and debian.list. Save live changes and reboot. On next boot all sources will get mangled (and on each new reboot they get mangled even more).

                  Hi @Xecure,
I tried to reproduce this error. But I don’t see it. This is what I get.

                      Hello,

I tested the runit version with the 2 French kernels.
On my Live USB key, there is no icon to install. I redid the tests in French and in French(BE). No icon to do the installation each time. This is not nice because I know that in English (US), the installation icon is present.

                      On the 1st screen of my Live USB key, there is;
                      UEFI
                      or
                      USB Disk
I take the USB Disk option

                      On the second screen of my Live USB key, I take the following options;
F2 > French or French (BE), it is the same
Use Legacy or Use Modern, it’s the same

                      On the third screen of my Live USB key, I take the following options;
                      F2 > French(BE)
                      F3 > Brussels
                      F4 > noautomount
                      F6 > space-iceWM
                      NORMAL Boot

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this could happen in other languages as well.

Some bugs on latest sysvinit b1:

                        A. Rox pinboard protests “/usr/share/wallpaper/pylons.png not found”
It seems all rox-WM sessions have the pb_antiX-<WM> configured for a PNG instead of JPG.
                        <backdrop style="Stretched">/usr/share/wallpaper/pylons.png</backdrop>
But it fixes itself once the session loads. Still, desktop-defaults-rox-antix will need a small update before release (if a jpg is used instead of a PNG, as it is now).

                        B. Repo manager is again confused. Selecting a different mirror doesn’t change the antix.list bullseye source. It only changes the “/antix/testing” repo, but not the one with “/antix/bullseye”. Small problem until Debian officially release bullseye and debian changes the name from “testing” to “bullseye”.

                        C. Rox-jwm desktop session. Right click on desktop doesn’t work (doesn’t launch the jwm menu). Works properly in JWM, minimal-jwm, and space-jwm. I suspect I saw this before, but as noody reported I thought it was my computer.

                        D. Rox-fluxbox. The conky doesn’t load (loads in fluxbox and space-fluxbox). I don’t see it as important bug, but just writing so others can check.

I get an error when trying to install wine in the antix-bullseye-b1-sysvinit with the 5.10.27 kernel using live USB.

                          $

                          I see the problem.
The antiX bullseye repo is disabled.
Enable it in /etc/sources.list.d/antix.list then do sudo apt update

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

System is up to date (below).
I now took out the first four .Xresources lines, but that makes urxvt white rather than solarized, which is what I think the color package is. I also tried using only the “xcalc” and “colours” lines (the original .Xresources file). I figured out they point to separate config files. When I do that, I get an xrdb error on “line 92”, but none of these files has 92 lines. So Kinda confused now. Thanks for looking at the issue….

2 ways to solve here: https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/expkeysig-error/

                              Third solution

                              sudo sed -i 's/^deb /deb [trusted=yes] /' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install antix-archive-keyring
                              sudo sed -i 's/^deb \[.*\]/deb/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list

I installed the updated kernel, but I still can’t upgrade the distro at the command line or using the antix updater…. Welcome a tip from the gurus…
