What apps from testing?
Are you running antiX with Debian and antiX testing repos?
Yes.
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list:
# Use with Debian Testing/’rolling’ repositories.
deb http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/Linux/dist/antix-workspace/antix/testing testing main nonfree nosystemd
deb-src http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/Linux/dist/antix-workspace/antix/testing testing main nonfree nosystemd
————————————————————————-
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list:
# Debian Testing.
# Testing enabled for ‘rolling’ release.
deb http://ftp.pl.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org testing-security main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.pl.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
# Multimedia Stable and Testing
# Use to install libdvdcss2 and codecs.
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org testing main non-free

I have a lot (hundreds?) of packages from the Debian testing repository installed.

Greetings from Latvia!
Attention to broken Audacity 2.4.1 package.
Practically – there are no entry ‘Silence finder’ in menu “Analyze”.
Further – everything is missing that uses ‘Nyquist’ library.
Audacity team acknowledges problem.
(bad Nyquist library used when compiling … )
Every other [version of] Audacity within reach works good (for me):
[2.1.2; 2.2.2; 2.3.3; 2.4.2 …]
Problem is not recent; but I thought that some other will find it out. Sorry.
I do not understand how to install other version of Audacity that
differs from one in repository … .
If it is not possible to correct repository (seems to be — MX repository)
may be there are some method how to get working version of Audacity??
=====
After long time spent seeking other Linux I am back with AntiX … .
Best regards …

Still uses wicd, my startup sounds stuck in place, My icewm still has quick launch bar. Roxterm stayed in place. Only slim login screen changed.
Dug this out of mothballs to install 19
Decided if dist-upgrade with a repo change went wrong. I could salvage with live cd run and reinstall 19.
But success. On reboot. This is long in the tooth install . Dist-upgrade took 3 stages because I accept package maintainers version. Which changed part of my sources.loist.d file contents.
So. Tired now cuz this slow atom netbook has it’s own speed.
So I will come back later to give my 2 cents on this subject.
Head is too cloudy right now.

There you have the problem. Compare it with caprea’s sources:
Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list
1: deb https://mirror.eu.oneandone.net/linux/distributions/mx/packages/antix/buster/ buster main nonfree nosystemd
You activated all testing and sid repos and disabled buster repos for the antix.list
I don’t know where you read you had to enable these repos, but that definitely will not help keep your system working.
You could re-edit the antix.list file (manually or using Control centre > Maintenance > Repo Manager > Individual sources) to enable the first buster option and disable (comment) the rest of them. Then perform a sudo apt update and hope things don’t break on your side.

You could also try to dist-upgrade from 16 to 17.
If you have not installed anything outside the repos, then a dist-upgrade should be ok. I’d suggest doing it in a terminal with apt-get.
1. Make sure you are up to date with the default antiX-16 repos, ie jessie.
2. If all is ok with this update, edit debian.list and antix.list to stretch. Do not use mx repos.
3. If you want eudev, add it to the list in 5. (I added it)
4. apt-get update and then apt-get dist-upgrade. Check nothing important will be uninstalled.
5. You will need to install the following apps manually, since they are not on antiX-16, but are on 17. (You can choose which ones you don’t want)
apt-get install adobe-flashplugin arc-theme apt-transport-https artwork17-antix bootrepair-antix broadcom-manager-antix cli-aptix conky-legacy-all console-grid-gui eudev firejail fonts-crosextra-caladea fonts-crosextra-carlito fskbsetting galculator gnome-mahjongg gnome-mpv grubcc-antix gsmartcontrol gufw-legacy libeudev1 lxkeymap mps-youtube packageinstaller qt5ct xmms-skins-antix xserver-xorg-legacy
6. Remove the following (you may want to keep some)
apt-get purge browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash bunsen-pepperflash gnome-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme-symbolic gnome-mplayer gnu-fdisk gufw keyboard-cc-antix install-meta-antix live-usb-cli-antix live-usb-gui-antix mplayer2 roxterm-common roxterm-gtk3 siduction-archive-keyring spacefm-extras system-antix toshset ttf-dejavu-core udev libudev1 unetbootin upower xmahjongg
7. Install a new kernel. package-installer should give you some options.
