Hi sybok and everybody!
Wow, swift responses and active community.
Thanks so much for your assistance, pardon my slack response.
Long day, work, lack of sleep, etc. etc. Also just fyi – the version of antix I am running is the latest full install, I pulled it through the torrent on the website just a fortnight ago or so. No repos added – only non-standard thing I’ve done is added the brave keyring and etc. as per original post.

Anything further diagnostic I can try to work with is much appreciated.
I will try to return to this thread tomorrow in a more wakeful state hopefully.

Hmmm. I did nothing special but dist upgrade and said yes at package maintainers version in /etc/skel and when I left click in FT-10 to get original icewm menu. App select is on top. No worries here.
Edit: locate command is my go to search tool. Quicker.

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsJanuary 11, 2023 at 10:38 pm #97217In reply to: What are you “here” with today?
MemberRobin
This one works like a charm on antiX 22 (apt-upgraded from an antiX 21 USB stick, now systemd- and elogind free) in basic functionality. No issues, even resume after suspend to ram works properly out of the box on this 5.10.142 antiX kernel. Not checked by now: Audio input. Noticed wrongly labeled sliders in alsamixer, mostly no slider does what it is labeled, but something else instead. Unfortunately it doesn’t have classic TV-out and no S-Video in and out. Also wrong detection of screen resolution, should be 2560×1440 instead of 2048×1152, both graphics board and monitor do support the 2560×1440 resolution, but it is not recognised by X and I can’t switch to it. Will have to work on it until everything works finally. As usual, it will take long time probably…
( @ModdIt : Finally got it running. Many thanks for your effort last year! )

Yes, what Caprea states is clearly true; I cannot find any evidence anywhere of your post Robin; sorry.
NOTE: since this is the case, everyone should be careful to modify their messages – “the word data followed by colon” appears in anything you create, make sure to replace the colon, (maybe do something like) – data (colon instead of the symbol) in your note, for example, inxi -zv8 System: Kernel: 6.1.4-x64v3-xanmod1 arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 12.2.0 parameters: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.1.4-x64v3-xanmod1 root=UUID=e1d85e10-a42a-4ed5-a98e-c860607e6910 ro quiet selinux=0 Desktop: IceWM v: 3.3.0 vt: 4 dm: slimski v: 1.5.0 Distro: antiX-21-runit_x64-full Grup Yorum 30 October 2021 base: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) Machine: Type: Laptop System: HP product: HP Laptop 14-fq1xxx v: N/A serial: <superuser required> Chassis: type: 10 serial: <superuser required> Mobo: HP model: 887C v: 59.11 serial: <superuser required> UEFI: AMI v: F.18 date: 11/26/2021 Battery: ID-1: BAT0 charge: 40.6 Wh (99.8%) condition: 40.7/40.7 Wh (100.0%) volts: 12.9 min: 11.3 model: HP Primary type: Li-ion serial: <filter> status: not charging Memory: RAM: total: 7.11 GiB used: 1.53 GiB (21.6%) RAM Report: permissions: Unable to run dmidecode. @dolphin_oracle, thank you for reply. Does this provide additional insight?
I may have answered the question.
cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/remaster-antix.list |grep skel /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.fluxbox /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.fluxbox/menu /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.icewm /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.icewm/menu /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.jwm /usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/skel/.jwm/menuIf I am interpreting the output correctly, remaster-antix is responsible for creating the /etc/skel menu files. This results with them being written to the /etc/skel directory of the installed computer.
Correct?

Also just guessing what you want to do.
If you want to install the build depencies of vlc to build it eg. from source,
you need to enable the deb-src line in your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list and update.
You can do this also with the repo-manager
control-centre > programs > repo-manager > go to tab “Individual sources” > then checkmark under antix.list the one deb-src line for bullseye.
Not the one for testing unless you use debian testing repos anyway.
If you just want to install vlc, better wait till the vlc problems are solved, which should happen shortly.December 14, 2022 at 8:06 pm #95661In reply to: Trying to “fix” android-device-usb-connect.sh

Well. I was under the impression those with phones that don’t mount with menu in stock antiX.
Were to test out these scripts. Or am I wrong thinking this? Hence my duh statement.
I felt pretty dumb breaking things last time. Not panicky. More of a roll eyes am I a dummy or what?
