install gmtp. It does not come installed on the live session. Only systemd distro probably worked is they throw the kitchen sink into the iso which takes up gigs of iso space, then transfers those gigs onto your hard drive. Here is my Samsung Galaxy S7

          I use airdroid when I don’t have a cable.
          My install

Phones interfacing with Linux can be a PITA sometimes. I don’t use my file managers when it comes ro AntiX and phones. gMTP handles the heavy lifting for that. Of course You got give the the phones approval ( trust prompt) before getting my results.

Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.
Not all who Wander are Lost.
I'm not outa place. I'm from outer space.

Working on installing acpi-tools (acpi was already installed in the base antiX install). Will try the Fn keys again after installation of the tools, and (I suspect) editing of some config file(s) to get them to work properly. Thanks for the link!

New nonfree section added to antiX stretch, testing and sid repos.

As you can see in the stretch nonfree repo antiX stretch/nonfree debs this includes a few packages, but for testing and sid only adobe-flashplugin.

Users should change their /etc/apt/sources.d/antix.list if you want to upgrade non-free debs to this:

                # Use with Debian Stable/stretch repositories. Set as default for antiX-17. Note new repos
deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/stretch stretch main nosystemd nonfree

                # Use with Debian Testing repositories.
#deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/testing testing main nosystemd nonfree

                # Use with Debian Sid repositories.
#deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/stretch stretch main nosystemd nonfree

Of course, if you want to be clean/libre than do not use nonfree nor non-free in debian.list in the repo lists

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

                  I don’t see 4.9.123 in synaptic. The last 4.9 version I see is 4.9.104.

I pasted the inxi -Fxzr configuration and disappeared. Why?
The problems persists after install XFCE.

@DaveW: I am running antiX 17.1 right now on a Dell Inspiron 5558, and I’m using the Debian STABLE and STRETCH repos along with those provided by antiX. These ought to be available to you whether you are using antiX 16 or 17, but may not be enabled or updated if you are using 16 from USB and have not modified or upgraded the system.

in the antix.list file, I have

                        deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/stretch/ stretch nosystemd main

in the debian.list file, I have

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable non-free contrib main
                        deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates non-free contrib main

                        in debian-stable-updates.list file, I have

                        deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable-updates non-free contrib main

With these repos enabled, I can get a variety of new and older kernels, with patched older kernels (which I use on an old Dell D series (either D620 or D630), and newer kernels, which I have used on the Dell Inspiron 5558 that I am typing on right now. This one is definitely updated; I believe I’ve used and updated the older systems and updated software on D series hardware too. Let me know if this is helpful.

One of my AntiX laptops (the one that is running x64) has had sysV init removed and systemd installed. This laptop is using the ‘testing’ repo.

                                First some stats:

Upon doing a ‘apt-get dist-upgrade’, I noticed that sysVinit was going to be removed and systemd installed but I caught this too late and the update completed.

How do I undo this? Is it as simple as removing systemd and re-installing sysVinit?

                                TIA
