Hi, I’ve been meaning to getting around to asking this. Based on my system info below, am I using the right kernel for my system? Also, I am using the zzzIcewm. What is the lightest, less resource intensive WM to use? Even when I update my system, it uses 100% of the CPU. Which I don’t know if that is normal due to my old hardware or perhaps making some changes might make it use less. In addition, I can’t seem to find a browser light enough to run on my system without it using 100% of the CPU and maxing out the RAM. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated thanks!

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsI’ve got a bug happening, in Libre Office Writer. I’m not sure how long this bug has existed, because there was a long stretch of time when I didn’t use the full screen mode of print preview. But, I’ve been using it again now, and there’s a serious BUG in it.
The problem is that the LO Writer program is incapable of exiting full screen mode of print preview without crashing. This has been a nuisance, forcing me to re-open whatever document file I was working with – but last night it was an extra step worse. You see, I use VeraCrypt for data storage on an external drive – and when I wanted to dismount the partition, it couldn’t do it. It claimed there was still a file open, although there was nothing showing in the task bar. Finally, I just backed up the partition which wouldn’t dismount, and then shut down the machine without finishing proper dismount first. Starting up today, I discovered that LOW wanted to recover the file which had crashed last night. I let it do so, then closed the file properly.
I went to the LO website, and discovered that the current stable version is v7.3.6. By contrast, the version being served from the repo is v7.0.4.2. I’d considered filing a bug report w/ LO, but discovering that the repo version was so far behind, I concluded they’d probably just tell me to upgrade to the current version before complaining about a bug.
One possible solution to my problem, would be to uninstall the repo version, then download & install the current stable version from the website in its place. That might fix the problem… But,I’m cautious of doing that, thinking that perhaps the repo version has been tweaked in some manner to fit antiX – and perhaps losing those tweaks could cause new problems.
Another possible solution, given that the current installation is antiX v19.4, would be for me to set up an antiX v21 installation using some of the unused space on this machine’s internal HD. (It’s got enough empty space for 2 or 3 such installations…) But, that would be a pain in the you-know-what, going through the rigamarole & shennanigans of setting up another new OS. It seems like it would be much easier, to simply fix the issue that’s going wrong.
So, I’m seeking advice here in the forum, re. what’s the best course of action for me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance, for any helpful comments.

This is a frugal-persist install, most recently apt-upgraded before I did the kernel update.
You wouldn’t believe this notebook is mostly 20 years old now (BIOS was flashed with an update two years after production date) when you see antiX running on it. It’s still in use for everydays work and multimedia up to 720p (3000kb/s).Here the details:

ERROR: update-menus [17874] Script /etc/menu-methods/icewm-common returned error status 1 ERROR: File /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox-guest/6.1.14/source/dkms.conf does not exist. But this doesn’t keep it from running fine. Virtualbox 6.1.x can’t be installed on a 32bit CPU anyway. And I don’t see what the error in menu-methods could have caused by now. No visible effect as far I can see. So I don’t mind.
Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.
I’m not asking for any help on this issue, but I thought it could be helpful to just signal it.
I installed Antix21 on an ASUS Z87 motherboard with an I5 processor with integrated graphics (full details on the system below). I was surprised to find that the computer crashed when displaying a webm video in mpv or celluloid, since the hardware is between 8 and 10 years old. The system freezes after 10 seconds or so, or immediately on resizing the video window in IceWM. Only way to recover is rebooting the computer. After uninstalling the 5.10 kernel the system works just fine in every respect on the 4.9.0 kernel.
Just one small annoyance: the system finds two sound devices (hda-intel-hdmi and hda-intel-pch. It only works with the second one but seems to produce a somewhat lower quality sound then the same hardware under Windows 10. This may be in my imagination only however since I can’t hear them next to each other.

When I have it plugged in, the screen goes dim, but when I have it on battery alone, the screen brightens up. I would like to be able to have it bright when plugged in like it is when on battery alone. Where do I find the config file to edit to make changes to the power settings? Also, based on my system info below, do I have the right kernel for my system? Thanks in advance! Here’s my system info:
