I used the links in the h2 signature to get the most recent (released) inxi and it wasn’t difficult at all.
But once I got to the site, I also saw the exact description that Harold provided above, and he’s absolutely right.
No matter which “method” you use to get either inxi or smxi, or any other tool, for that matter, it’s rarely complicated, and these specific tools are definitely quick and easy to download.

In my case, I grabbed a zip copy, unzipped the files and put the stuff in my own personal location; easy, done.

Here’s a detailed report on my system, which has been sitting idle for an hour or so until I unlocked it a few minutes ago.
This detailed report comes from a downloaded, stable version of inxi:

Hmmm – looks like something must be wrong in my repo list, can you help me correct?:

I’m using a different piece of hardware again today, and it’s another one where at the present time I have ONLY antiX installed.
I hope to spend some time later today acquiring a newer version of the excellent h2 tool inxi. In the meantime, here is
what the inxi-gui version I have available says about the system I am using now:

              Dear All,

When I do a speedtest with Google Chrome in antiX 21, I always have a bad result for the download test. My curve always collapses. I should have 125 mbps all the time.

If I do the same test with the same Google Chrome version in MX Linux 19.4, my download test is very good and my curve does not collapse.

If I do the same test with the same Google Chrome version in Windows 10, my download test is very good and my curve does not collapse.

Why do I have a bad result with antiX 21? If you have an idea to share…

              Best regards,
              Wallon

Ok, as suggested by you guys, I normally installed Antix on my laptop.

                sudo apt update
enabled Liquorix repo from Synaptic package manager
                pressed Reload…
but I stil get this error:

                GPG error: https://liquorix.net/debian sid inRelease:
The following signature couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 9AE40783033F8024D
The repository ìhttp://-liquorix.net/debian sid inRelease' is not signed.
                [...]
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.

As you can see the repo remains unabled. Pobably you don’t need inxi-r but there it is.

I also googled “antiX” followed by the error I got, but it only shows 2 results:

                —>this
(a user suggests to go on wwww.liquorix.net and use the .sh script they provide to add the repo, but I can’t find it, and since Antix is different from Ubuntu etc, I’m not sure it’s the ideal solution).

—>and this, but the suggested fix did not fork for the guy)…

                Any idea?

I did a test, I removed the antiX repository (sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/backup/) and typed “sudo apt-get update “. So I tried to install the package again and the following error appeared:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
                  libeudev1 : Conflicts: libudev1:i386 (< 232:246:3.2.9.1.0antix7) but 247.3-7 is to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

Do I always need to use antiX repositories? Can’t I just use the debian repositories?

I’m using my chromebook from 2015. I followed some online instructions, and reflashed the bios, so I could totally remove chrome. Now it runs antiX. (I bought it recently just to do this.)

It has a TINY (16 GB) emmc “ssd,” so I keep my installed apps to the essentials, and run from ram (all my antiXes are “frugal/live”). It’s a pretty good little (& light!) machine.

Hi! I just want to make sure I’ve got this right. I did search the forum and found some tangentially relevant information but not a step by step guide. First I install antiX 21, then in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list I comment out the stable repo and uncomment the testing repo. Same for /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list. And then I’m good to go? sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade?

Should I run “sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade” one time before switching the repos?

I’d be grateful if someone could confirm. Thanks!

I have a problem with my desktop icons being moved around.
I’m running antiX v21 on a Dell Precision M6300 laptop, in a dual-boot arrangement. Windows 10 Pro is on one partition, and antiX 21 is on another.

I keep all my data files on external drives, in encrypted partitions. When I boot up A21, all the icons on my desktop look like white pages. When I have the external partitions mounted as drives (using VeraCrypt), I then refresh the desktop. During the refresh, the desktop finds the target files on the external drives, changes the colors of the launchers, and verifies (registers?) the links. (Those launcher links don’t work, until the desktop has been refreshed.)

My problem is that when I first boot up the desktop, many of the launchers get displaced out of the tidy arrangement I prefer to keep them in. They move up toward the top of the screen, joining rows there. Then, I have to relocate them one by one, back where I want them to be. This happens to 6 out of 21 launchers.

Counting (1,1) as being at top left in the grid, in (x,y) coordinates:
                            {(4,3), (5,3), (4,4), (5,4), (4,5), & (5,5)} all get displaced y-2 (2 up).

Describing this differently, a group 2 wide x 3 tall gets moved 2 positions up, to reach the top edge of the screen, while retaining its internal order.

This doesn’t cripple the machine in any way… But, it’s a daily nuisance.

I’ve attached a screenshot, showing how I want the arrangement to be. The last 2 columns of the middle block are what get shifted up to the top when it happens.

Is there any way to stop this behavior?

I’ve got a chronic problem in my Dell Latitude E6400 antiX v19.4 operating system. When I go to dismount the VeraCrypt “drives” (encrypted partitions), it tells me that it can’t do it because one of the drives (#7) was not mounted. Note that up until that point, VeraCrypt #7 continues working flawlessly – and, works flawlessly when mounted again at a later time – until time for dismount. Also note, that this malfunction only happens with #7, not with #1 or #6 (the 2 others I use most frequently).

The error message after clicking to “Dismount all” is:
                              “umount:/media/veracrypt7:not mounted”

Clicking “Dismount” w/ p7 highlighted, finishes the task.
                              ——————————

Before AntiX I had Windows 8.1 and there wasn’t any problem. I’m sure it’s a software problem.

Here’s the output of inxi -zv8. I’m now on JWM to test if IceWM is the problem.
