On another matter, I’ve read complaints about some kernels and also about some Web browsers.
Since I’ve been writing this thread, I checked ps_mem.py again, and I was pleased to see that there was no hint of increased memory usage, and in fact, the standard Firefox binary combined with an efficient Liquorix 6.1.11-1 kernel and the runit scheduler, memory is consistent, and on more than one occasion when I close a few tabs, within a few minutes browser cache memory is released. Firefox does tend to cache a lot of initial memory and the base image is somewhat heavy, but in context, not for the resources that I have available at all.Information to support this –

Hi Brian, when I today saw that you have installed nala, I immediately started a new attempt to install it, which did not work at all the last time, or install went already, but it came only errors when using.
Today after a few attempts I finally found a hint that nala-legacy must be installed on bullseye.A certain getting used to is necessary. If I see it right
nala upgrade
for example does this
apt update && apt full-upgrade –auto-remove
if you dont want to autoremove, you have to tell it explicitly to nala.My daily companion

Got a couple of Linux systems configured to accept my Bluetooth device today.
Basically I removed any previous configurations and redid them and they worked,
so I can try that on other systems including antiX.
On antiX, I’m still getting “Connection failed: Protocol not available”.
The device is “seen, as are other nearby devices.
I’ll see if I have any other devices I can connect.
Had the same problem with a JBL Flip 2.
Like the Soundcore Life Q10, I was able to connect the JBL Flip 2 speaker
using an audio jack cable.Maybe Bookworm will give some results; just got my Soundcore Life to pair
and connect to audio so there is indeed hope ahead.- This reply was modified 3 months ago by Brian Masinick.

Probably why I got away with a cheap bid. Oh yeah. Came with no monitor or power supply. So ya take your chances when going cheap.

If it does work on antiX 23, great; if not, I’ll just use it with the jack rather than fight with it. Oddly, I don’t have any problem at all getting it to work with Bluetooth on my Android phone, which uses a Linux kernel, and I have no problem getting it to work with my Chromebook either. But this is NOT unique to antiX; that’s why I doubt Version 23 is going to make a miraculous difference. It didn’t work on PCLinuxOS, siduction, Legacy OS, openSUSE or EndeavourOS either.
It is not antiX 23 alone I meant but antiX 23 plus pipewire sound system, which antiX 23 enables to work smoothly with bluetooth. In the past I had problems with bluetooth support under antiX because it needed pulseaudio sitting on top of alsa. This worked OK with some hardware but usually was troublesome to connect. Now with pipewire infrastructure to which anticapitalista put so much work to make it work with antiX 23, particularly modifying to be libelogind-free, it seems to work really nicely with hardware I had problems before… Pipewire replaces both pulseaudio and jack. It is now one, uniform infrastructure. As someone said: Linux finally has sound. And possibly even better sound support than Windows…

ID-1: /dev/mmcblk1 vendor: Hynix model: HAG2e size: 14.68 GiBMAJOR influence on my distro choice. I like That the antiX full iso update/grade took up a lot less space than the original Kali install.
Funny thing was. Sound worked OK in Kali. I did not have it long enough to test bluetooth though.
MY mind was already made up.Internal bluetooth is still a problem. If I can look in the bios and turn it off. Hope it is not a wifi/bluetooth combo card with 2 chips.
NOT really stressing on this feature though. Cuz everything else is working.Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

I’d be absolutely thrilled if that were the case. Unfortunately, while the Soundcore Life Q10 model does work with all of my systems, including my Linux systems, it only works on Linux with the audio jack, at least on my HP-14. I removed and added packages repeatedly a year or two ago on my Dell Inspiron 5558 and my previous Acer Aspire 5 A515-55 and after a lot of struggle, got it working.

Correction: I DID get it working on PCLinuxOS, and I had a note in another thread that I was able to get siduction, EndeavourOS, and openSUSE working too. Maybe it’ll be worth a little effort if it can physically work; I just did get it working, so there’s hope!

OK, board software didn’t accept my tar.gz, so here the repackaged to zip archive type.

And it only took 4 seconds to load the kernel!
So I don’t know why the installed system gets stalled as it does. I’ll keep searching, and report back if I can find anything. For curiosity & testing’s sake more than anything (since I personally prefer frugal, anyway).

Congratulations olsztyn if you got Bluetooth headphones working on antix23 alpha without systemd!
If multiple users can make the same model of headphone work on their different systems, it serves as a “proof of concept” of sorts that the software “works”. (Obviously, it is important that general software works with LOTS of different hardware.)Well, it looks to me that these bluetooth headphones are not any exception and most other bluetooth models should work just fine in antiX 23 using pipewire infrastructure.
It starts looking to me that many troubles making bluetooth headphones and speakers work reliably in antiX was pulseaudio sitting on top of alsa. Now it appears that pipewire infrastructure has this handshake all resolved.
I would not be surprised if Brian’s bluetooth headphones started working just fine under antiX 23 and pipewire…- This reply was modified 3 months ago by olsztyn.

Perhaps pulseaudio was (reportedly) exhibiting some latency as measured by instruments. How with so many components on the way pipewire is not expected any latency?
I believe that pulseaudio might beon the way out, replaced by pipewire just for sound routing, I do not think sound latency of microsecond makes a big difference to my ear, but I do not like architecture so fragmented into so many component, almost like a showcase of complexity, often seen in Linux world.Well, I take it back after reading a lot about pipewire/pulseaudio/Jack/Alsa architecture. My apologies for the above my uninformed opinion…
It turns out there is a reason for such many various components, to service variety of interfaces and applications. Bluetooth devices are one example. To interface audio traffic between sound device through alsa hand-off to pulseaudio and bluetooth interface to headphones (as one example) has been a challenge to do.
Pipewire seems to have all these components working finally within one architecture and reliably.
Perhaps this is the reason my bluethooth headphones are working great with pipewire and I think I remember having trouble to make them work with pulseaudio on top of alsa…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):
