Especially nice is that it is finally possible to use bluetooth for audio playback without installing the cumbersome pulseaudio.Installing pipewire made this possible now in bookworm.
Could you possibly share what exactly needs to be installed from pipewire bundle or from elsewhere for sound to work with bluetooth?
Also, do you need pavucontrol to control where sound is routed, such as to bluetooth speakers, rather than default speakers?
Thanks and Regards…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

A really well done look together with the wallpaper. In time running it from live usb with persist-all.antiX23 runs fast and stable (as always).

I first tried this with bluez-alsa-utils, which is installed by default, but /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.bluealsa.service does not exist.
bluez-alsa-utils contains only systemd service file.
After a lot of experimenting with creating runit service files, i decided to try pipewire which can be started from autostart and does not need an init.
And pipewire until now works perfect.Just listening to my bluetooth speaker sound from firefox.
I’m going install to harddrive now for further exploration. Many thanks for this beautiful and reliable OS.@Christophe, isn’t the start_sound_level tightly configured in desktop-session-conf ?
@Sasa, For those who have the green screen until now they all had nvidia cards, did you try to boot with boot parameters like

You guys were colder than us a day or so ago and today it looks like you have very nice weather!
Must be crazier than Michigan weather around Pecos, TX!We’re hovering just under 40 degrees now, though we did have a nice, sunny, but brisk day today. The sun was shining first thing this morning, something that didn’t happen more than 60 times a year with bright sunshine in some areas of Michigan, due to the number of lakes, streams, and major Great Lakes, which of course carry a lot of water, leading to a LOT of cloudy days!
We have ocean, but it’s between four and five hours east of us, so it’s not a factor. We also have mountains, but most of them are hills around here, except one that nicely protects us, (in my opinion) from too many extremes – we’re NEAR it, but not ON it, so that also helps. To our North are higher elevations and they can get colder weather and more frequent snow; we haven’t had any snow at all this season and only ONE last season, so that is also nice.
Also our weather was often warm, but rarely extreme over the past year, so it was a good year that way too.
I’m thinking of pulling out one of my dinosaur desktop units and trying out the new Alpha version there.

This same system typically shows 300-350 Mi use from free -h and even more from inxi or pinxi, so what they’re measuring isn’t the same, so the ~45 MB difference, as shown with ps_mem.py is consistent here and that’s why I’m showing antiX 21/22 resources here.- This reply was modified 3 months ago by Brian Masinick.

The ISO boot “antiX-23-alpha1-runit_x64-full.iso” took place on a USB device prepared with Ventoy, this is just a live boot.
The F1 option is now next to the F2 option in the antiX ISO boot and this is great, before the F1 option was not visible.
Now I want to make some suggestions:
1 – Place the “Unplug Removable Device” icon (original text in English to avoid any misunderstanding) at the far left, as it was always further to the left in previous editions of antiX. Please, don’t answer me so I can use “IceWM Toolbar Icon Manager” to organize it as I’m suggesting.
My suggestion:
prog “Unplug Removable Device” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/devices/drive-removable-media-usb.png unplugdrive.sh
prog “antiX Updater” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/categories/software-sources.png /usr/local/bin/yad-updater
prog “Software Installer” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/packageinstaller.png su-to-root -X -c packageinstaller
prog “File Manager” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/file-manager.png desktop-defaults-run -fm
prog “Web Browser” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/web-browser.png desktop-defaults-run -b
prog “IceWM Toolbar Icon Manager” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/categories/icewm_editor.png /usr/local/bin/icewm-toolbar-icon-manager.sh2 – I thank you for correcting the “pt_BR” identifier in the “/usr/share/antiX/localisation” folder.
3 – The file “refresh-menu.desktop.desktop” continues with the entry like this “Exec=desktop-menu –write-out-global”, by chance it should be with “sudo desktop-menu –write-out-global ” for the menu to work?
4 – Now I’m going to look at the menus and compare with antiX 21/22.
“antiX” submenu: All menus are translated to “pt_BR”, except “locale-antix-user.desktop” and “locale-antix-system.desktop”. Please use the translated .desktop files on GitLab (https://gitlab.com/antix-contribs/antix-desktop-files/-/tree/main/.desktop).
“Accessories” submenu: They will only be 100% translated to “pt_BR” when all our translated .desktop files are used by the creators of the respective programs. I’ve already found out that this will be impossible, because many developers don’t care about translations or have refused to use our translations. For example, the creators of Firejail, Celluloid, MPV, DeSmuMe, etc. If any of the programs that are in the antiX full ISO are maintained by the antiX development team and are on this list of menus that need to be translated, please use our translations.
“Development” submenu: Only Geany needs to be translated.
“Graphics” submenu: It remains to be translated to “pt_BR” – “Gtkam Digital Camera Browser”, “Mirage” and “LibreOffice Draw” (the latter is an “impossible mission”).
“Internet” submenu: Still need to be translated to “pt_BR” – “Ceni”, “Claws Mail”, “Dillo”, “Firefox ESR”, “HexChat”, “Links 2”, “Modem Manager GUI”, “Sakis3G” and “Transmission”.
“Games” submenu: Still need to be translated to “pt_BR” – “DOSBox Emulator” and “Mahjongg”.
Submenu “Multimídia”: Need to be translated to “pt_BR” – “Asunder CD Ripper”, “Celluloid” (I already explained the reason above), “SMTube”, “WinFF” (this project is unfortunately abandoned and therefore will never be merged with our translations) and “XMMS”.
“Preferences” submenu: Still need to be translated to “pt_BR” – “Bluetooth Manager”, “Screenlight” and “User Language”. The “blueman-manager.desktop” and “User Language” files are an old version and it is not the file that was used in antiX 22, please compare with our GitLab file or the file used in antiX 22.
“System” submenu: It remains to be translated to “pt_BR” – “Firetools” (I already explained the reason above), “Modem Manager GUI” and “ROXTerm”.5 – I missed having a “trash.desktop”, without it the zzzFM right-click menu won’t have the translations. Trash-related translations could be in the “trash.desktop” file.
6 – On the zzzFM right-click menu, I suggest changing the position of the “Delete (Shitf + Delete)” option to be below the “Send to Trash” option (this menu is not translated to “pt_US”) . I believe it is safer to have the “Send to Trash (Delete)” option below the Rename option (F2).
Rename (F2)
Send to Trash (Delete)
Delete (Shift+Delete)As soon as possible, I will boot the ISO “antiX-23-alpha1-runit_x64-full.iso” on computers older than the one I posted in my previous message.
– – – – –
A minha sugestão:
prog “Unplug Removable Device” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/devices/drive-removable-media-usb.png unplugdrive.sh
prog “antiX Updater” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/categories/software-sources.png /usr/local/bin/yad-updater
prog “Software Installer” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/packageinstaller.png su-to-root -X -c packageinstaller
prog “File Manager” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/file-manager.png desktop-defaults-run -fm
prog “Web Browser” /usr/share/icons/papirus-antix/48×48/apps/web-browser.png desktop-defaults-run -b
As traduções relacionadas a Lixeira poderiam estar no arquivo “trash.desktop”.
Renamear (F2)
Send to Trash (Delete)
Excluir (Shitf + Delete)Assim que for possível, eu irei inicializar a ISO “antiX-23-alpha1-runit_x64-full.iso” em computadores mais antigos que este que eu postei na minha mensagem anterior.

On my home computer- Ram after booting into zzz-icewm:
Conky: 178M/3.81G
“free -h” in the terminal: 381Mi
Task manager: 160/3.90CPU: 0% when idle
1% running zzzfm and firefox-esr showing only the forum (RAM: conky: 605; free -h: 874Mi; task-manager: 587MBI tested opening several .odt documents and one .pdf file using zzzfm- it worked perfectly and lightning fast, even in live mode… Writer launches in less than 3 seconds!
Edit: I’m using wi-fi via an USB dongle: no network problems to report, for now.
Edit2: I installed Ft10 on it- it runs fine, but, for some reason a few menu entries come up twice (the second one without icon and does not run anything: “Bluetooth” and “Add items to menu”, “app-select” and “adsl/ppp…”)

Thanks everyone for the very quick feedback so far.
Package Installer will need to be updated to make sure everything in it can be installed. I’ll put this down as ‘known issue’.
Future testing builds will (hopefully) get his fixed.About kernels – I’m not sure what to default to.
One idea was to use 4.19 as our legacy and a 6 series kernel for ‘modern’. At the moment there is no antiX 6 series kernel though.
We could ship 5.10 as legacy and a 6 series kernel as modern.
Another idea is to use the series in this alpha an not ship with a 6 series (it is very likely to be much more RAM/CPU intensive than previous versions). Please also comment on CPU/RAM usage. General responsiveness compared to previous antiX versions.
Modem manager was included to see if it actually works for those that need it.
For those with bluetooth devices, please see if it works. You will need to enable bluetooth via the runit-service-manager (in control centre as well as the menu).
Pipewire is not installed (and it is 99.9% unlikely to be installed on final iso). However, anyone wanting to install and test it out and provide feedback will be very welcome,Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Great! I’ll try it out on my Dell Inspiron 5558.
Made it here on the Dell laptop. First try is running live using the Legacy 4.9 kernel –
inxi -b System: Host: antix1 Kernel: 4.19.0-256-antix.1-amd64-smp arch: x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: IceWM v: 3.3.1 Distro: antiX-23-runit_x64-full Grup Yorum 3 February 2023 Machine: Type: Laptop System: Dell product: Inspiron 5558 v: N/A serial: <superuser required> Mobo: Dell model: 086DKN v: A00 serial: <superuser required> UEFI-[Legacy]: Dell v: A18 date: 12/30/2019 Battery: ID-1: BAT0 charge: 30.1 Wh (100.0%) condition: 30.1/41.4 Wh (72.6%) CPU: Info: dual core Intel Core i7-5500U [MT MCP] speed (MHz): avg: 1710 min/max: 500/3000 Graphics: Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 5500 driver: i915 v: kernel Device-2: NVIDIA GK208BM [GeForce 920M] driver: nvidiafb v: kernel Device-3: Suyin Integrated_Webcam_HD type: USB driver: uvcvideo Display: server: X.Org v: 1.21.1.6 driver: X: loaded: modesetting unloaded: fbdev, vesa gpu: i915 resolution: 1366x768~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: Mesa Intel HD Graphics 5500 (BDW GT2) v: 4.6 Mesa 22.3.3 Network: Device-1: Intel Wireless 3160 driver: iwlwifi Device-2: Realtek RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet driver: r8169 Device-3: Intel Bluetooth wireless interface type: USB driver: btusb Drives: Local Storage: total: 504.43 GiB used: 12.3 MiB (0.0%) Info: Processes: 154 Uptime: 7m Memory: 7.7 GiB used: 3.07 GiB (39.9%) Shell: Bash inxi: 3.3.19I used the toram option and I also came in directly the first time without the UEFI; I’ve done both on this system in the past and they both work, so I’ll try multiple combinations again. I think a LOT of people are going to like the default wallpaper; very nice indeed! Thanks roki for sharing it and anti for including it!
Back later with additional tests.

Toying with the idea of running a seperate car play/android air play unit on my motorcycle handlebars.
Phones break when you do this motorcycle because of handlebar vibration.
These seperate units are tough and water proof and tie into the phone in your pocket using bluetooth or wifi.
To give you a idea.https://www.advrider.com/easy-carplay-or-android-auto-for-any-bike/
Lots of open desert out here. It is easy to get lost.
Might come in handy; hopefully it’ll last a long time; otherwise it’s on the pricey side.
Like all the things we are discussing here, there are both costs and benefits, useful features and potential consequences associated with their use.
Those concerned about their absolute privacy and location will have concerns; those who appreciate convenience and useful “directions” may find it helpful.
Choices, features, costs, benefits, concerns – which create the most concern?Personally I do appreciate technology, but I also recognize that everything comes at a cost of one form or another.

With antiX I can get sound working with apulse and I can then plug in my headphones and they work, but no success with Bluetooth.
I believe you need pulseaudio in antiX for bluetooth to work with audio devices. Pavucontrol (mixer) will route audio.
There might be a (complicated) way to make Alsa to work with some routing but I have not seen any.Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

Add openSUSE Tumbleweed to the list of distributions that have no issues with media or Bluetooth.
