        Hello.
        Release: 11
        Codename: bullseye

I’d like to connect SuprCollider (uses ALSA) to connect to Bluetooth. As Bluetooth connects over PulseAudio I thought pipewire could solve the issue.
So I’m trying to install pipewire through the PPA following this link:https://trendoceans.com/enable-pipewire-and-disable-pulseaudio-in-ubuntu/
        //

First I get a API key warning:
        gpg: keybox ‘/tmp/tmpj7cm4o5n/pubring.gpg’ created
        gpg: /tmp/tmpj7cm4o5n/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created

        gpg: Total number processed: 1
        gpg: imported: 1
Warning: apt-key is deprecated. Manage keyring files in trusted.gpg.d instead (>
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.

Then when I try to install some libraries:

        sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-pipewire libpipewire-0.3-{0,dev,modules} libspa-0>

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

              Hi Brian,

I’ve been doing the same, going thru several of my distros and updating/upgrading. Been working with some of my older kit the last few days so mostly working with antiX right now.

The machine I am on the forum with now is a laptop I bought myself from a local Circuit City and came with Windows XP SP2. After XP upgraded to SP3 it slowed to a crawl and became a real dog. I experimented with Linux and ended up installing antiX-16 after upgrading the ram to the max this machine could use, 480MB. (512 installed but the video subsystem takes some of the ram and leaves this machine with only 480MB). AntiX-16 gave this machine new life. I also re-installed XP SP2 and froze it at SP2. XP worked better again but now I had found antiX and XP got left behind.

I installed antiX-17, then antiX-19 Full and Core, running them all in a multi-boot grub setup.

Today I upgraded antiX-17, then both antiX-19 Full and Core. But since antiX-17 is about to lose support I decided to try to upgrade to antiX-22 32-bit Full. I wasn’t sure it would work on this old machine since it has an old VIA S3 graphics chip. But when I booted the Live USB it worked fine. The graphics were setup with the OpenChrome drivers automatically. The Kernel is 4.9.0-326. The WiFi was also supported OOTB. All I had to do was set it up with Ceni and my password for the LAN router. I was shocked that it works just as well as antiX-17 and antiX-19.

This has always been one of my favorite machines. It is larger than a Netbook but lighter and smaller than other laptops I had at the time. (I had one Dell Inspiron that was way too heavy to be a “laptop”). So, I ma happy this machine is working so well with antiX-22. Of course, with only 480MB RAM I can only do one thing at a time. But I am browsing with SeaMonkey and on the forum right now with this forum message. Pretty good for this single-core laptop from 2006.

I switched over to my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop. This is my large laptop; it’s pretty heavy, especially compared to my newest HP-14.
Comparing the two, feature-wise I like this one. It has a better keyboard, larger display, and it has good, solid construction.
Speed-wise, the HP-14 does better, though the “late” (deceased, at least to me) Acer Aspire 5 A515-55 was easily my fastest system.
If only the EFI/BIOS was an easier to use design I’d probably still have the Acer; unfortunately I had to reinitialize the firmware
and when I did, it was looking for a password, one that I could not recover, and not finding a suitable way to resolve it after a
few days of searching, I stuck with these systems instead.

I’m not fond of the HP keyboard (only the HP-14; other models have been pretty good in general). It has a heavy feel, and does not
give back a solid feel in spite of the heaviness, nor does it have backlit keys, whereas both the Dell and the Acer have backlit keys.

With that, here’s my latest setup on this nicely aging Dell:

                      Hi,

I’m facing this issue while I’m trying to boot with anti beat me.

It’s just stucks at this message:
‘waiting for /dev to be fully populated’

First i have tried other boot methods (safe boot and fail boot)
But both leads to same message.

After searching little bit i have found that
the ‘waiting for /dev to be fully populated’ are releated to incompatible hardware drivers.
Because the hardware drivers (e.g bluetooth graphics card) are gets installed extactly at this point.

While it’s stucks at this point my graphics card are just installs fine (I can notice that because the screen resolution changes).
And then it’s just remains there ‘waiting for /dev to be fully populated’.
I think it’s hangs there because the process animation stops.

The thing i have tried with a result was removing all boot arguments (e.g quite).
I was able to boot after removing all boot arguments,
i was also able to pass the ‘waiting for /dev to be fully populated’ message,
but again it’s just stucks at some point and then i get terminal access.
at this point i have tried to install it (anti beat me) from the terminal using ‘cli-installer’.
I have selected my already prepared volume that are ext4 formatted.
After the installation completes and then reboot, the grub menu doesn’t appears it’s just boots into windows.
I have tried to boot from the usb using ‘boot from hard drive’ option but again it’s just boots to windows.

I’m suspecting my computer usb ports, because my computer can’t run libusbk properly on Windows.
Tho linusb runs properly on xubuntu 18

I’m using anti beat me version 22 core edition amd64

That’s all i have, thank you!

Fighting blueman-applet and blueman-manager with this internal bluetooth that inxi shows above and am not sure btusb driver is up to this task on this chromebook.
My older Dell laptop with antiX 21/22 runs and pairs and connects up just fine because I bought a guaranteed linux and blueman usb bluetooth dongle .

Blueman would not play nice either with some of the other dongles I tried. Anyways. That is what I am blaming on Blueman problems on this chromebook. My internal bluetooth on my NUC box with antiX 22 64bit full on it won’t play nice with blueman either. I won’t start a thread on hardware that is too much of a hassle to get going till I figure out what the deal is.

Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

As my old laptop does not have Bluetooth I decided to go for Lotus style efficiency and remove all trace of any Apps and references connected to it by using Synaptic as shown below. (marked for complete removal) I believe that most if not all old 2GiB RAM laptops have no Bluetooth – please correct me if I am wrong?

Hope you find my screenshots useful?

No, he never said which antiX version he installed or posted any system info that I noticed.

My experience with such an old 2GB Budget Laptop was with a Toshiba Satellite L300 with lowly T1600 processor. It was in mint condition and of a certain friendly good build quality.

                              https://www.cnet.com/reviews/toshiba-satellite-l300-review/

I soon wiped Vista and installed the Full GNU-Trisquel Mate with extensive quality apps even including a Bitcoin Wallet as standard. It ran faultlessly, quite snappy with a lovely screen and keyboard. It was donated to a local junior school during Covid 🙂 You can still find a Tosh L300 on eBay for about £25 🙂

I still have two laptops and a WinXP workstation – okay: and a GrapheneOS phone!

I would have no doubts at all about installing AntiX-22 Full on a Tosh L300 but will show you how I personally set up on my lovely old HP G60 3Gig such that making a screencast video causes no stress on CPU-RAM. Going no where near the slow zone before SWAP or needing Zram.

The simple way – Just install screencast app and perhaps a video editor too? No matter which of the AntiX versions you prefer – DO NOT ADD to the panel. DO NOT HAVE anything else running. DO NOT HAVE Conky running – junk it, along with Bluetooth, MTPaint whatever. 🙂 Just simple basics – I know some don’t – common sense really. I then remove apps from the panel followed by a shedload of stuff that’s not required using Synaptic: using Mark for Complete Removal 🙂

Congratulate yourself for now being leaner and meaner – no longer an Obese Bloatmaster in the crawler lane 🙂 Saving on energy too – longer battery usage – as the system runs cooler without fans being on meltdown control – Hey saving the planet too 🙂 ALL GOOD 🙂

Do a reboot and then go to the Control Center and under Software; execute Antix Autoremove. Disable Wi-Fi then reboot again and then click Restart to refresh panel.

Okay; we are almost ready to rock 🙂 Think about your game plan – or story board. Perhaps rehearse it twice then fire up your screencast app and once you have it set up how you like, minimize it to the panel. Have your wristwatch next to the keyboard in your field of view being ready to use keyboard shortcut; start recording when the second hand is at 12 o’clock. Stop when 57s have elapsed. Save you video as Test-01 or similar. Review your video content to see if you could improve it? If so – send it to trash and have another go 🙂 When satisfied use imgur to upload and grab a link or whatever 🙂 Simple, Sorted. It is just that easy!

Now ADD – Yes, add performance monitors to the panel and start recording again to see how lean and mean your system is 🙂 You don’t need to see them again so now remove them – simple…!

Our leader champions leaner and meaner as do most Arch or Endeavour users who promote KISS 🙂 Keep It Simple Stupid 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Here are a few sub 60s screencast videos from my system – Enjoy..
