Are antix’s repositories dead? When I try to install some applications many error messages are shown on the terminal. Here are some error messages:

After this operation, 358 MB of additional disk space will be used.

I’m using my chromebook from 2015. I followed some online instructions, and reflashed the bios, so I could totally remove chrome. Now it runs antiX. (I bought it recently just to do this.)

It has a TINY (16 GB) emmc “ssd,” so I keep my installed apps to the essentials, and run from ram (all my antiXes are “frugal/live”). It’s a pretty good little (& light!) machine.

Today I’m here with antiX 21 runit Base on my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop.
              I have several kernels installed here;

              – 4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp
              – 4.19.0-222-antix.1-amd64-smp
              – 5.10.88-antix.1-amd64-smp

Previously I also tried out a few Liquorix kernels here; once upon a time they worked; they don’t work for me here any more since I replaced the original 8 TB HDD with a smaller SSD.

Here’s what I am using today:

              inxi -Fxz

                Hello,

                Thanks for your reply.
In connman UI, I have a green status. But when I enter hciconfig -a in a terminal, my device is DOWN.

                hci0: Type: Primary Bus: USB

                Link policy: RSWITCH HOLD SNIFF
                Link mode: SLAVE ACCEPT

After entering hciconfig hc0 up, my device is well UP :

                hci0: Type: Primary Bus: USB
BD Address: 54:27:1E:AB:61:44 ACL MTU: 1022:8 SCO MTU: 183:5

                TX bytes:757 acl:0 sco:0 commands:62 errors:0

and with rfkill list bluetooth I can verify that my soft and hard are well OK. So, no problem :

                2: hci0: Bluetooth
                Soft blocked: no
                Hard blocked: no

But bluetoothctl is still not working. I have the message “Waiting to connect to bluetoothd…”.

May be, it’s a problem with the bluetoothd dameon because when I try to start it in a terminal, I have the message :

“D-Bus setup failed: Connection “:1.11” is not allowed to own the service “org.bluez” due to security policies in the configuration file”

Have you an idea to treat the problem ? My principal aim is to have a blueetooth connection available directly at the boot in a CLI.

                Regards.

                Rémy

I’m here with EndeavourOS on my Acer Aspire 5 A515-55. Just updated packages on MX Linux a few moments ago and stopped by on this one to do the same and they are already complete too.

                      Dear all,
I have an old laptop Asus F3Sg from 2008 that is my main pc (I should better say: the pc that I use more often).

In the internal hd it is installed Peppermint 10 that works fine since march 2020.

As a backup, and also heavy test I have antiX 21, full, 64 (kernel 5.10.17-antix.1): this is installed in an external hd – USB, that I use for my tests. All my data that are in the /home @Peppermint 10, are copied in the /home @antiX21 (not the configuration files of course).

                      The problem:
after 1 week of tests of the programs that I mainly use, I installed the Nvidia driver from the Control Centre. All was fine.

After another week I installed Wine from the Software Installer (the antiX app centre).
The strange thing that I immediately noted was that I had to download about 1G in the process of the installation but at that moment I didn’t give too much weight to it.

At the reboot the pc went (and continues to go) in kernel panic.

So I tried to boot with the 4.9.0-279-antix.1, and with this I can boot, with the following side affect:
                      – the program that I should run with wine (chess base 11) works perfectly;
                      – the Nvidia driver doesn’t start;
                      – arandr let me go max with 1024×768 instead 1200×800.

                      The install procedure:

                      1. A couple of month ago I installed antiX 21, full, 64 on an Acer Aspire one D260 and there I modified the look following the procedure described in the post “How to make antiX look like MacOS using JWM”. All was fine and on that pc all is still working properly (without wine).

                      2. Using antiX snapshot I created the relevant iso.

                      3. Using Crea Live USB I created the live usb.

                      4. I booed the live on the ASUS and during the live session I did:
                      – sudo apt update,
                      – sudo apt upgrade.

                      5. then I installed antiX on the external HD in a directory ad hoc created.

                      6. then I copied all my files + the /home/.thunderbird/ (this directory alone is > 36 Gb)

                      7. then after 1 week of tests (web surfing, mail, some libre office document) I installed the Nvidia driver

                      8. after another week I installed wine and only after this 8th step I had the above described issue.

What above is the 2nd try in a row that goes in the same bad way, so I guess that the problem involves or my creation of the usb, or wine.

I’m on the verge of making a 3rd install, but I think that the problem will came back again

Many thx in advance for your help

                        Hi,
I’m not a big expert, so I try to spent my 2 cents 🙂

1st question: have you verified the status of your bluetooth with connman UI setup? This is the main tool for wirelss connections in antiX
2nd question: have you tried to use the native antiX program: menu -> applicazioni -> preferenze – gestore bluetooth – (those are the Italian names, I guess that in En they may be: menu – programs – preferences – bluetooth)
3rd question: which hw do you want to connect? sometimes you should write a connection key that depends on the hw you want to connect

                        m

Here is my second-most capable laptop; it is the most capable system I have that is able to successfully run antiX.
On this system antiX 21 “runit” Base runs very well and I am able to use it without any restrictions whatsoever.

Moreover, the Touchpad.bash script I’ve written to enable or disable the keyboard touchpad works well, so when
I have a USB mouse available, I can disable the touchpad so that it doesn’t inadvertently interfere with other
                          activities.

                            Hello,

I have an old machine (emachines em350) with a WIFI/BT card (atheros AR9485, it’s not the original hardware for this computer).
My problem is I’m not able to to use bluetoothctl.

I used rfkill unblock bluetooth to unblock my hardware/software.
With hciconfig hci0 up, I put UP the hardware (I check with hciconfig inq and after the command, my card is UP).
when I use hcitool dev, I have a device hci0 with a MAC address. So OK.
But when I use the command bluetoothctl, no possible to connect to the daemon. I have a message “Waiting to connect to bluetoothd …” without success.

Do you have a idea to connect the bluetooth and use bluetoothctl ?

                            Thanks by advance.

                            Rémy

Note that today’s updates included apt and libaptpkg6.0 and apt is no longer blocking the removal of libelogind0. Note that unlike Moddit’s reults, vlc packages are not affected (Thanks anticapitalista). However, pipewire related packages are still dependent upon libelogind0, (although not apparently upon elogind).

Since I am enjoying Pipewire, I won’t remove libelogind0 unless I can figure a substitute.

                                Hello Caprea and Stevesr0.

I performed the sequence below, following the commands taught by Caprea in the topic My video Camera has stopped working. After I applied each command, I tested the ZSNES to see if there was sound or not. After the last command “pulseaudio –start”, the ZSNES started to emit the sound. I restarted the computer and the ZSNES started to emit the sound most of the time after the command “pulseaudio –start” or with the click of the .desktop file that I share in Internet Archive which now has this command to help other people not need to apply commands in Terminal.

I noticed that the Chromium web browsers and Firefox on YouTube emit the sound at a lower volume when PulseAudio is activated, with AlsaMixer it emits the sound at a higher volume.

As soon as possible, I will continue testing on computers that have gone completely silent and if it still doesn’t work, I will install PAVUControl as instructed by Stevesr0.

                                Grateful.

                                – – – – –

                                Olá Caprea e Stevesr0.

Eu realizei a sequência abaixo, seguindo os comandos ensinados pelo Caprea no tópico My video Camera has stopped working.

                                Grato.

                                – – – – –

Please post the output when you start zsnes from the terminal.
Agree with stevesr0, pavucontrol is necessary for pulseaudio.
