      Run it first from terminal to make sure it works and assign the commands to a key-combination (on whatever WM you use).

      Yes, each of the 3 WMs you mentioned should have a configuration file in which the you can specify your customized keybinds

      Thank you Xecure and skidoo for the process to enable keybindings for desktop switching.
      Simple and effective enhancement…

      Also just wanted to confirm that in testing (actually now using most of the time) antiX-runit-21 B2 I have not encountered any material issues.

      – CUPS service comes up on boot and printing works fine
      – Networking (SMB/CIFS) works as expected – properly maps to SMB shares. I did not test NFS but it should work also.
      – Bluetooth service can be enabled via runit-service-manager.
      – UFW comes up active after reboot.
      – Slimski works fine for me except the actual default sessiontype is determined after username is entered and Enter key pressed, not necessarily sessiontype that is initially displayed. The parameter ‘Default sessiontype’ in slimski.local.conf – not sure it takes default value specified there. I am using the ‘default’ theme, not antiX, so it might be just related to my theme though…

      Just one minor observation, not material – I am not sure saving state across reboots works for me yet, such as remembering the last WiFi or backlight level on Live. It might be that I missed something to configure…

      In general, except some minor configuration to finalize in my environment, it appears to me antiX runit 21 B2 is ready for full time use.
      Thanks and Regards. Great accomplishment…

        I have been spending a bit of time running antix-b2 x64 (sysvinit) live (except when testing stuff on runit), and remaster, persistence, and most apps in control centre (I haven’t tested them all yet, like cups, bluetooth, yet) work (like repo-manager, update, autoremove, preferred applications, change wallpaper, etc.).
        I have yet to try iso-snapshot, and installing things from the package-installer. Hopefully I can test them tomorrow. Mainly the external apps, and ones from MX repos.
        Everything else, like changing desktops, editing files, browsing the web, playing music, pulling and pushing from git, etc. seems to be very stable.

        More testing tomorrow.

          It seems that for apple magic keyboard it requires a special XKBOPTIONS option (based on it seems the signals are different”>this post).
          Based on the above linke, after connecting the bluetooth apple magic keyboard, try running in terminal
          setxkbmap -option apple:badmap
          and see if the keys are mapped OK now.

          There are a few posts related to this on the net. See if you can find anything related to “apple magic keyboard” and “debian”.

            Hi everyone,
            I’m new to Linux environment and just started to understand a bit of it with an installation of AntiX.
            I’m trying to connect my wireless apple magic keyboard via bluetooth and everything is fine, there’s only one error, as I type the vertical slash key the angle brackets are shown to screen instead.
            I get confused as with my usb wired kb (which has the same layout) the two keys aren’t swapped.
            I’m currently using the pc105, italian variant, keyboard layout.
            Does anyone have any idea about how to solve this error?
            Thanks for your time.

                I’m oscillating between the antiX Beta 2 sysvinit and the antiX-21-runit-beta2 image;
                running runit now.

                Just updated the runit packages again. This image is looking pretty good.
                Running the *.279 kernel on this one as shown in the inxi report.

                Happy to see that I can switch between the various window managers and the switching, plus the functionality has been working well.
                Have been using zzzFM here and in my regular use of antiX; it has been flawless in my personal use.

                    This rig (a laptop) seems to detect 2 sound cards.

                    Control Center -> Hardware -> Set default sound card

                    HDMI: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI
                    Generic: HDA-Intel - HD-Audio Generic

                    But only the second one works.
                    The thing is, if booting the Antix live system, it always sets the first one as default, so I got curious.

                    With the first device set:

                    demo@antix1:~
                    $ speaker-test

                    speaker-test 1.1.8

                    Playback device is default
                    Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels
                    Using 16 octaves of pink noise
                    ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1108:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
                    Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
                    demo@antix1:~
                    $

                      Issue happening on all laptops’s USB ports equally.
                      The USB stick works quite normal on same laptop when on Windows 10; also with other Linux distros and other different rigs.

                      However, on other rigs (e.g. an old Toshiba Satellite L955 from circa 2012), but with this Antix 19 live system, this issue still happens.

                        @Xecure:
                        Thanks, editing udevil.conf and restarting session did the thing. Though the file’s comments do emphasize the security risks. Just to be sure, is there really no danger in general with this, even if normally browsing the internet with the web browser, or other activities?
                        Also, apart, I noticed that when copying files from FAT32 USB stick or NTFS internal drive to Antix system, they’re all copied with *full* 777 permissions, or at very least all with +x. WTH?

                        Regarding CD/DVD, no dice. In the Control Centre options you mention I already have default enabled “Automount external devices” and “Open file manager with mount” for USB and optical media. But as I already mentioned, when inserting any optical disk it tries to automount it always in /live/boot-dev, owned only by root. I saw the udevil.conf change was not related to this at all…

                        So no harm at all in the system if I choose to unmount /live/linux (/dev/loop0)?

                        Hope you can find the time to test more, as you mentioned. USB stick still takes freaking 30 seconds to be recognized; doesn’t happen on Windows…

                        Finally, I noticed you addressed all issues in this single thread. Am I allowed to discuss them all here as well, along other “small initial” issues I still have? Or should I keep making new separate threads for each different issue?

                        Thanks very much.

                          I have revised the code to include some of your ideas. I have had trouble with the antix-calendar script. I’ve also had problems with other scripts that call programs that run from cron that I don’t run from the menus. I will need to exclude them I suppose.

                          To do: Current code doesn’t do temp files or config options nicely. Need to ignore the xappslogger program itself

                          #!/bin/bash
                          # xappsrunninglogger - appends log of current days since epoch and running xwindows app names to logfile ~/xappsrunning.log every 60 seconds (60x per hour=1320x per day)

                            Oops, I hit some that don’t work, so had to give up on xlsclients

                            zblsv, Thanks, At first that looks very difficult, but your code eliminated a lot of unneeded “stuff”.

                            As a test of concept, I came up with this command:

                            For the benefit of those reading and learning or teaching, the intent is:
                            1. get a list of what I have running and put it in a temp file
                            2. print the temp file and delete the heading line
                            3. remove leading whitespace from all lines
                            4. remove the first pid column
                            5. remove leading whitespace from all lines
                            6. convert lines running /bin/bash or /usr/bin/python3 to convert the space after into a tilde to combine that with the command that follows
                            7. print just the first column which is now the command, sort and eliminate duplicates
                            8. remove any commands found in the exclude list

                            $ ps -U $(whoami) -Ho pid,args > ~/tempfile && cat ~/tempfile | sed 1d | sed 's/^[ \t]*//' | cut -f2- -d" " | sed 's/^[ \t]*//' | sed 's/^\/bin\/bash /\/bin\/bash~/g' | sed 's/^\/usr\/bin\/python3 /\/usr\/bin\/python3~/g' | awk '{print $1}' | sort | uniq | grep -v -x -f ~/xapps-exclude.lst

                            The results were:

                              Dear Users,

                              I checked the Linux kernel version on both my computers.

                              On my desktop with antiX 21, in the Package Installer, I have the new Linux kernels 4.4.0-279 or 4.9.0-279 or 4.19.202 or 5.10.57.

                              On my laptop with antiX 19 Full, in the Package Installer, I don’t have the new kernels. I made the effort to put a screenshot in English of Package Installer because the installation on my laptop is in French.

                              The two versions of antiX do not use the same repositories or is this a bug?

                              Best regards,
                              Wallon

                                I tried earlier Alpha and Beta releases (both sysvinit and runit) and prior versions had no observable issues. I rebooted one working instance and noted that the savestate and repo-manager issues were fine.

                                I cannot speak for savestate (I have no idea how it works, if it works after the final unmount script is run on live-USB or what), but repo-manager has a reason.
                                The version in B2 is different from the one in B1.
                                For now, anyone that needs to rollback to the previous version, it is still in the repos (the current version in B2 is not in the repos).
                                sudo apt install repo-manager=0.2.4.4

                                @ Xecure:
                                Just to update, Thanks to your service startup utility it appears I was able to make ufw start automatically at boot. Bluetooth service also starts up with the help of this tool. Testing bluetooth function still ahead but looks like all outstanding service issues have been resolved.

                                That is great news. Hopefully I can get the script fixed up and packaged and ask anticapitalista to add to the repos.

                                On the LIVE USB savestate issue. Is it working for everyone else? If it is, I will make a new live-USB again just to start from a better system.

                                Confirmed it is broken in runit (and previous beta of runit), but not sysvinit beta1 version.

                                Thanks for confirming t. Good to know it is not only me. Is there a manual way to make the scripts for savestate to run manually? Can you point out the general location of those scripts or the package that contains them (if there is one)? I am a bit curious about how they work.
