@Koo – remove connman-bluetooth-firmware-antix

It seems like installing audacity damaged the system on my laptop with AntiX 19 Base, 64 Bit.
Synaptic is no longer working, no files can be installed. I have tried to change repos with repo manager, it doesn’t seem to work.
Says that outdata file is full for the repos.
I choose full uninstall of audacity, but the dependencies stayed, only audacity uninstalled.
Lucky it was the laptop and not my desktop which is used for work, that would have been quite a disaster!
Any suggestions on how to get the system properly working again, or do I have to reinstall Antix Base ?

I am trying to make a recording by external microphone on a desktop with antiX 17 Base, 64_bit system.
The microphone is connected to the microphone jack, old Philips microphone.
Traverso seems to be working but there is no sound recorded.
(I also have a laptop, with AntiX 19 Base 64 bit, which I believe has built in microphone, but Traverso is not in AntiX 19 repos, nor can I find any other suitable program for recording from internal microphone – preferably not command line but something easy to use.)
Whichever solution will do, on desktop with AntiX 17 or laptop with AntiX 19, but the recording needs to be done.

You may already know this (or be able to locate this). I quote directly from the bash man page:
HISTFILE
The name of the file in which command history is saved (see HIS‐
TORY below). The default value is ~/.bash_history. If unset,
the command history is not saved when a shell exits.
HISTFILESIZE
The maximum number of lines contained in the history file. When
this variable is assigned a value, the history file is trun‐
cated, if necessary, to contain no more than that number of
lines by removing the oldest entries. The history file is also
truncated to this size after writing it when a shell exits. If
the value is 0, the history file is truncated to zero size.
Non-numeric values and numeric values less than zero inhibit
truncation. The shell sets the default value to the value of
HISTSIZE after reading any startup files.
This description is found in the Shell Variables section somewhere between lines 1100 and 1200.
There are a great variety of keystroke sequences to navigate through Bash history and the man page certainly covers them in detail.
However, in practical experience, a couple things make it pretty easy. Depending on which mode you have Bash editing set, you can perform a variety of commands for simple navigation. To simply go back one or a couple of entries back, arrow keys do the job. I typically have a history alias, h, defined, so I can type h to see a history list. This list provides a number followed by the command. So if I want to run a previous command, for example:
494 sudo /etc/rc5.d/S04bluetooth restart
I simply type !494 and press Enter and the command sudo /etc/rc5.d/S04bluetooth restart is executed. You can also go back to an earlier command and edit the line slightly; all of these details, of course, are provided in detail on the bash man page.
Some people never do anything other than use the arrow keys; that’s legitimate, but the further back the keys are, the more impractical this becomes.
There are also some really creative ways that you can take history, perform creative editing on it and actually turn certain sequences, that you find yourself repeating, very easily into a reproducible script, simply by copying those commands into a file, making the file executable, and running it as often as needed.
The possibilities are endless, limited only by what you are willing to experiment and try.

I am fully up to date, and my Control Centre DOES properly launch “Choose Startup Services” (with the same code as koo reported). Try updating the system and trying again, Koo.
I saw codecs-antix update, and it is not available in the control centre. I launched it from the applications menu (Codecs installer) and I get an error message.

still think the behavior is unexpected with regard to cups as that is not included
in the full antiX version.
CUPS has always been included in antiX full, so it is not a user install. You may have missed the link I provided. There, it is explained that the disable=l option disables a few services, including cups:
l = lean Turn off some services
Lean services:
acpid acpi-fakekey acpi-support bootlogs bluetooth
cpufrequtils cron cups gpm ifplugd
irqbalance loadcpufreq nfs-common rpcbind rsync
rsyslog saned smartmontools ssh stop-bootlogd
sudo wicd
I am not sure how accurate this is now in the current version, but it at least is a hint to what may be the cause of your problem.
I am too accustomed to using boot parameters, so I set up my keyboard even before I boot into antiX, in case I need to do thing in the terminal (for antiX core or when there are boot problems) with kbd=<keyboard-layout>, as I explained in the wiki: https://antixlinuxfan.miraheze.org/wiki/Table_of_antiX_Boot_Parameters#Keyboard_selection
I will check later today about remaster problems you have experienced, ModdIt and compare with previous antiX 19 live USB.

Being a new user and a fan of the game Watchdogs legion a slight modification to Conky looks good with this background. System is now working as I like with some help from you guys on here (Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not connecting at startup up drove me insane). I have even managed to get it working as a Plex media server.

You didn’t tell us if bluetooth is enabled in connman.
Ups. I missed this.
When following caprea’s instructions, in antiX Base, instead of a new window, a new icon will appear down in the system tray on the panel. Right-click and enable bluetooth switch there.

You didn’t tell us if bluetooth is enabled in connman.
control-centre > network > wifi connman
look under tab “Status” under Technologies and enable bluetooth

If running live, you need to remove one of the “disable=” parameters. As I don’t know which, you can experiment or better remove all of the “disable=” expression.
If running installed, check that the bluetooth service is starting at boot. If you are not sure, you can run this command to enable auto-start for bluetooth service:
sudo update-rc.d bluetooth defaults
You can follow the other great advice for autoconnecting the bluetooth device.

Hi sorry yes it’s 19 Base but built things up by turning on extra bits that I thought would be needed. Blue man is there and works but each startup get the enable Bluetooth pop up dialog box at login. The config file may be worth a try

I just wonder if your problem is caused by the fact that bluetooth is turned off in the connman system tray, and therefore you have to enable it every start.
You didn’t tell which antiX you are using. If antiX19-full go to
control-centre > network > wifi connman
look under tab “Status” under Technologies and enable bluetooth
Otherwise I have had good experience with handling bluetooth devices with the graphical program blueman, which you can install.
Edit: There’s also the configuration file /etc/bluetooth/main.conf
Please look if it is set like this under [Policy] section
AutoEnable=true

Hi guys,
This may have been asked before but here goes. I have managed to get my Apple Magic Mouse and keyboard to work via bluetooth and it works quite well. The problem I have is every time I boot up I have to plug in a USB kB and mouse, login, enable Bluetooth so that I can then switch to the wireless devices.
Just slightly annoying. Any thoughts, tips, links or guides on how to do this? limited Linux knowledge here so don’t want to do anything that will break the system I have installed the wireless mouse driver using this method:
sudo apt-get install dkms
git clone https://github.com/rohitpid/Linux-Magic-Trackpad-2-Driver.git
cd Linux-Magic-Trackpad-2-Driver/scripts
chmod u+x install.sh
sudo ./install.sh
I found the following web page, will this help or work?
https://askubuntu.com/questions/17504/how-can-i-have-a-bluetooth-keyboard-auto-connect-at-startup
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
