New to antiX, so installed 17.2 to use bluetooth. Works fine.
What’s the bluetooth solution for 17.3 without pulseaudio and pavucontrol?December 16, 2018 at 1:06 pm #14304In reply to: Blank screen after reboot

How to Search for AntiX solutions to your problemsNovember 27, 2018 at 5:09 pm #13728In reply to: Menu Maintenance
Memberolsztyn
Your latest post, “confirmed” doesn’t match what I posted. Re-read the first line of my earlier post.
Yes, I did read your post carefully and I did notice this. However the reason I emphasized my experience was that it appears the scope of the issue in my case is wider than Personal, it appears I am experiencing this issue also with Applications. Therefore perhaps I am overlooking something simple, particularly that you confirmed that this issue affects only Personal. I will test this with different images of AntiX, as possibly my test image was corrupted in some way…
I will definitely be looking forward to AntiX developers correcting this if possible. Such functionality is IMHO very important for AntiX…Update:
I just did some quick testing on a different, pristine AntiX image, to exclude a possibility of corruption and results appear to be:
– Confirming your assessment most maintenance for Applications do seem to work fine except the following:
– As originally reported Chrome applications. which are sub-menu of Applications do not seem to be ‘maintenable’ which means there seems no way to remove them.
– Some items, when set to ‘Shown’ in Menu Maintenance, such as Bluetooth Manager do not seem to be shown anywhere, even after rebooting without ‘LX’ option to reduce services. It is listed as ‘Shown’ in the menu maintenance list as status though…
This is just to clarify my testing and again, I could be missing something…

Pardon my ignorance. I was only asking the question. And thank you for answering btw. I did as you suggested:

That said, I no longer think systemd is the problem (Skidoo reassured me about that). But I think I’ll start over anyway. Booting takes more than two minutes in stead of 30 seconds (keeps waiting while initializing my USB Wifi dongle).
Shutting down is even more problematical: after ‘stopping crypto disks’ (what is that supposed to mean?) I get timeouts on my /dev/sdc disk (with ntfs filesystems). The disk is not cleanly unmounted and diskerrors are introduced. Also takes many minutes to complete the shutdown. I even had to boot in Windows (the horror!) to repair the disks…
Is there a way to capture the shutdown system messages in a log file? I would like to show these to someone more knowledgeable.

UPDATE: regarding Fn keys not working, I (partially) solved this problem by adding “acpi_osi=” to /etc/default/grub in the line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=” ”
This made most of the function keys work on the laptop (btw, its a ZG3/a0751h model). Tested to work are the: F11(numlock) and embedded numpad, home/end, screen brightness, F12(scroll lock), F4(sleep), F6(screen blank), F7(touchpad lock), F8(mute/unmute). Still no volume up/down working as far as I can tell. Also, not tested but possibly working: F3(bluetooth on/off) and F5(external video out toggle). Also tested and not working (but I don’t really care about these): F1(power options), F2(system properties).
Strange thing is that using acpi_listen generates an acpi code for the volume up/down keypresses, but nothing happens. Also, some of the other Fn key presses that work do not generate an acpi code. Keep in mind I’m basically learning this by trial and error (Google-Fu, baby!), so I may just not have stumbled upon the right information yet to solve this. I have not conducted extensive research/testing at this point to solve this issue; maybe 1-2 hours at most so far.
Anyway, liking antiX so far, it’s relatively snappy on this dinosaur – there’s only so much a 32-bit single-core processor can do! We’ll see what happens as I start using applications.

Hit the button. Open Wicd. Make sure wlan0 is in the preferences box < task bar for preferences > for wireless
