I’m correcting the translation on Transifex as well, so you can just use the file over there.

I wish I was as good as the antiX developer. I have no idea how to decode and encode the .tr files or build the gfx-cpio compress file again. I was able to read the files by using cat in terminal, but I have no idea how to really decode them.

I have opted for the older version of initdr and boot present in iso-template to build the ISO (where the error is not present). Unfortunately it lacks some of the nice new 19.4 live functions (like encrypt frugal). Sorry for not being good enough. At least it is as close as I could get it to the antiX 19.4 release.

I am not sure what you mean here. Do you want to use an older 4.4 kernel or are you referring to the xorg-legacy configuration? Send me a private message explaining and I will build whatever you tell me (if possible) and link it here. I have everything more or less set up, so it would only be editing two or three files and I should be able to make a new ISO in a few hours.

I have created an ISO for antiX 19.4 with kernel 5.10 and what I think gives support for RAID. It is not exactly the same as antiX 19.4 (it is using older live boot menus it is has less live capabilities than 19.4, and some different configurations, but it is the best I can do for now. It should have almost the same packages and be almost identical for untrained eye).
        pseudo-antiX-19.4-5.10_kernel_x64

When you boot, add the boot parameter
        load=all
before booting to the live system so it loads all modules, including the one that supports RAID (hopefully it works).

If after this it doesn’t detect the RAID, I give up. I cannot test it myself, and I am only following advice randomly found in the MX Linux forums.

If you have the time, please check to see if it can detect RAID partitions and such, be it Gparted or the installer. If you can’t it is OK. This was an experiment anyway.

        Regards.

If anyone else finds issues with the isolinux/syslinux boot menus in other languages, please report NOW.

Boot from Hard Disk Arrancar a partir do Disco Rígido

Not an issue, rather a clarification and correction.
The translation shown above is correct in the sense it’s the literal from en to pt. However, the point is the original is not clear. What the function provides is the possibility of booting an ISO image directly from the HD, whereas the description in en indicates a normal boot from HD.
So, I’d you to correct the translation (to pt) to «Arrancar com imagem ISO» (meaning Boot with an ISO image).
I’m correcting the translation on Transifex as well, so you can just use the file over there.
          Thank you.

We could add a warning for Brazilian users in the release notes. I don’t see it is worthy to recreate ALL Iso files, when the bullseye release is approaching.

… you are not the ONLY Brazilian using antiX. Don’t take all the responsibility for yourself.

Don’t worry about it. If you need an ISO, I will build a i386 or amd64 FULL ISO, replacing the pt_BR language for pt only for the Legacy boot menu, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

@marcelocripe, you are not the ONLY Brazilian using antiX. Don’t take all the responsibility for yourself. Testing 19.4 was totally open, and many outside of the forum also downloaded it and tested it, used it, wrote articles, made videos, etc. Don’t try to take up all the work yourself.

It has been over 1 month since the official release. Probably someone already spotted it but never reported it expecting someone else to do it.

                Olá Xecure,

That is why there was a period of testing before the 19.4 release. Testing it would have found this problem before the official release.

                Grato.

It seems like the installer is not ready yet for RAID.

Would you mind trying out the latest MX Linux 19.4 AHS iso, update the live system and see if their new installer can detect and let you select your RAID system?

The MX LInux team is doing a lot for improving support for newer hardware, so they are a reference for us. As most antiX users have old hardware, we will lag behind compared to other distros.

Let us know if you can test MX installer out (and probably use them instead if you see they also have good performance). If we are asking too much, I understand, as time is precious.

Sorry for not being able to provide much support for this particular issue.

So I tried again with the most recent iso image (May 21, 2021), and when I choose the mode in which I want to boost antix, I have an infinite black screen (even in secureboot safe mode). What’s weird is that it looks like antix is working, but there is no graphical feedback (I say that because, with only a short press on the power button, the pc shuts down after a few seconds).

That is what usually happens with the 4.9 kernel on newer hardware. Though the antiX developer has done a lot to improve hardware support on that particular kernel, not everything can be included and work.

Again, thanks for testing everything out.

I have checked the pt_BR.tr and compared to the pt.tr (boot/isolinux/gfx-cpio) for the antiX 19.4 ISOs. I observed that it is using the new translations (for antiX bullseye) for pt_BR instead of the old antiX 19 translations, so the order of things is completely different.

Indeed, the problem came from EXPKEYSIG, because after having the different steps the version of antix-installer was 1.5.2. Unfortunately, even after that, my SSD is still not visible neither in the installer nor in GParted…

If it makes a difference, my SSD is “NVMe WDC PC SN530 SDB”

Olá caros usuários brasileiros do antiX Linux,

It would be good news to know that the 19.4 ISO can also boot on 10th gen Intel machines.

If you can solve the expressig issue (or even if not), please try it out to let us know so we can recommend its use in the future.

I have a computer with an intel i9 10th generation cpu, and 2 disks: HDD and SSD NVMe with Intel RST technology (also called RAID). I’m particularly interested in AntiX for its minimalism, so I was able to find an iso image that could be installed on a pc with the 10th generation intel cpu.

My goal would be to have Linux and Windows on my NVMe SSD in dual boot, leaving the mode on RST.
Thanks to this link, I now know how to have the 2 OS (in dual boot) having put the SSD in AHCI.
                            The “problem” is that
                            – it is impossible for me to install directly in RST any Linux distribution
                            – with AHCI selected, the reading of the SSD disk is slower.

This brings me to 2 questions:
                            – Once Linux is installed in AHCI mode, is it possible to make it work when switching to RST (RAID) mode? Maybe like in the previous link, by activating the safe boot?
                            – If not, can we expect to see support for RST (RAID) technology in Linux soon? If so, how long will it take?

                              I burnt a CD

First suggestion: try again and append “from=all” to the bootline.

Second: On a working machine, load the CD and browse its content.
                              Is “/dev/sr0/antix/linuxfs” truly absent?
If it not absent, could be a “bad burn” right? So, maybe retry and use a slower speed
                              .
Take a step further back. Possibly the downloaded ISO was corrupt. Recheck the md5sum (or sha256 sum) of the ISO file to verify its integrity.

                              Another idea:
After the “fatal error”, if a command prompt is displayed (vs unresponsive blinking underscore cursor) use the “blkid” command to check what is the (apparently something other than sr0) /dev path for the device.

An office machine died so I found one in the cupboard. Sadly it turned out to be a 32bit XP machine. I burnt a CD (no USB boot available) for net installation because the full iso is too big for a CD and thought I would be adventurous. All went well until I selected the option to run antix and I received an error.

                                Filtered devices /dev/sr0
                                Retry for 15 seconds…………

This seemed like a good place to start without knowing BitJam.

Meanwhile I am burning a base version. Will post if it doesn’t work.

Also, on Legacy Boot, F8 menu (save boot changes) selecting the legacy kernel doesn’t work (at least on my tests). Could anyone else check if this also happens to them?

I see that (on my system) the F8 menu saves the changes to Grub menu, but the syslinux/isolinux doesn’t remember them.

                                  Hi @Xecure,
I am trying to reproduce the above. Can you please go into a little bit more detail so I can try to reproduce? Thanks
