I ran Asunder to copy the soundtracks on a cd to WAV files but all I got was the playlist file, the process finished very fast without creating any soundtrack files.

The preferences dialog indicates messages will be written to /var/log/asunder.log but I could find no such file, in fact the messages are written to /var/log/messages and in the log I found references to a missing module TOMOYO that seemed to cause the process to fail with every track processed and resulted in a error number 002.

Attempting to resolve it without bothering anyone I researched Asunder a little and decided to install tools-tomoyo (or similar name) which ran successfully.

Now my PC will boot but antiX will not load, it hangs with the messages you can see on the screen snapshot. I cannot even boot from the 19.3 dvd iso.

Because this install of 19.3 is not ´straight from the box´ I would like to undo the tools-tomoyo install I did rashly, has anyone any suggestions as to where I should start?

Except for the hiccup reported for the grub boot menu, the snapshot works perfectly. I then created a remaster (general first, tested it, and then a personal remaster). Everything worked as before.
The only problem with the iso-snapshot I saw was that /var/lib/connman/settings was removed, which again disabled wifi and enable the insistent NTP check, but I consider this minor. It worked perfectly on the 19.4 original testing ISO, so the user just needs to figure this out themself.

The fix for launching “alternatives configurator” from the control centre worked.

I have nothing else to report for now.

Please, let us know when all packages are updated again on the gitlab repo. I think I will add some hotkeys (brightness up/down) for the different desktop-defaults for fluxbox and icewm. Nothing urgent.

IIRC, the welcome string hiccup was seen previously, due to a typo within one of the files provided by a prerequisite package ?”gfxboot” (or ?”remaster-antix”)

FWIW, i rechecked just now and did not find any* occurrence of “welcome” within the iso-snapshot-antix source files

I have manually updated all packages from repo.antixlinux.com/uploads/buster

Iso snapshot has the same error as reported for bullseye alpha1 for UEFI boot. I created a snapshot and UEFI booting displays the same message

This didn’t happen when I tested iso-snapshot with version 0.3.24

I will test now how persistence works.

This is similar to a question I had last year, but I can’t find the post.

Getting online seems a little convoluted, but I’m OK with the process. So in testing this release, I boot the USB stick using the above ISO, then execute the following:

rfkill unblock wlan0
sudo killall wpa_supplicant

Then I proceed to execute Ceni from the control panel. After a successful “run-parts”, I can execute

ping 192.168.1.254

and all packets get through. But

ping yahoo.com

gets nowhere, and launching Firefox-ESR doesn’t connect to the Internet.

What am I doing wrong?

B) If UEFI boot, you edit the custom option in /live/boot-dev/boot/grub/grub.cfg

After the tests above, with the root powers, I manually deleted the youtube-dl_2021.04.07-1.0antix1_all.deb package from the /var/cache/apt/archives folder. Then I downloaded another package from the website http://repo.antixlinux.com/buster/pool/main/y/youtube-dl/youtube-dl_2021.04.07-1.0antix1_all.deb, which you informed me. Desculpe-me por demorar para retornar a este tópico, no domingo e ontem eu não consegui acessar este computador para executar os testes que você recomendou/ensinou. Eu espero ter feito todas as etapas na sequência correta, se eu não fizer alguma etapa corretamente, por favor, indique o que eu ainda tenho que fazer.

Depois dos testes acima, com os poderes de root, eu apaguei manualmente o pacote youtube-dl_2021.04.07-1.0antix1_all.deb da pasta /var/cache/apt/archives. Em seguida baixei outro pacote da página eletrônica http://repo.antixlinux.com/buster/pool/main/y/youtube-dl/youtube-dl_2021.04.07-1.0antix1_all.deb, que você me informou. Colei o novo pacote na pasta /var/cache/apt/archives.

The broken package problems also occurred with the official versions (antiX-19.3_386-full.iso and antiX-19.3_x64-full.iso), not necessarily from the youtube-dl package, occurred with the LibreOffice, Firefox, Printer translation package (hplip-gui) when the installation process is done with the Synaptic package manager and when some type of error occurs. Olá pessoal,

Novamente eu venho pedir ajuda e mais ensinamentos para a resolução de problemas que ocorreram no antiX (“antiX-19-legacy-bet2_386-base.iso”):

Erro na atualização do antiX o de pacote quebrado no Synaptic.

Os problemas de pacote quebrado também ocorreram com as versões oficiais (antiX-19.3_386-full.iso e antiX-19.3_x64-full.iso), não necessariamente do pacote youtube-dl, ocorreu com pacote de tradução do LibreOffice, Firefox, Impressora (hplip-gui) quando o processo de instalação é feito com o gerenciador de pacotes Synaptic e quando ocorre algum tipo de erro. Eu não sei este problema ocorre por falha de conexão com a internet ou se é por outro motivo.

It doesn’t matter if the USB device is USB3. The only important part is connecting to a USB2 port if USB3 is problematic.

I have no idea why you cannot boot to the USB device. It should work the same as making any live-USB with any other distro, and then booting into it.

A note, booting to an antiX live USB system will not trigger Secure boot, so there must be something wrong with how the live-USB was created.

Try again with an MX linux ISO, instead of antiX, as the procedure to fix grub should be the same.

Hi and many thanks for your prompt reply. This gets more embarrassing with every step.

In short the IBM T42 will not boot the USB Antix Live stick I just created.
Following the advice on the Antix site I first tried to run the AppImage of the recommended software for creating the Antix Live stick. This crashed, I suspect because my laptop is using wayland but whatever it crashed. I then went to the dark side and used Rufus on Windoze. I was offered a choice of ISO mode or DD mode. I tried ISO mode and then tried the stick. The T42 BIOS was set for USB CD or FDD but neither would boot.
I wondered if USB was OK so tried to boot it from my laptop, the one with the spill damage which now has a few keys not working.
I couldn’t boot from the USB because the bios is set for secure boot. First time I have even tried to use this with a boot USB so I have no idea what to do next. Only good news is that I have been able to order a new keyboard for the laptop.
I wonder if the USB stick uses USB 3 and that T42 cannot read it.
Stuck.
Should I burn an Antix CD and install from CD as a new install or try burning a live CD first? All advice welcome.

On a new instance of live-usb:
I performed all upgrades. New 4.9 kernel upgraded just fine.
5.10 kernel: the 5.10.22 kernel that the iso came with works fine. But the 5.10.27 kernel will not boot for me from the live-usb. I even uninstalled the kernel & reinstalled it. Always, I get this error:
Fatal Error
Neither aufs nor overlayfs is available

(and I can choose to reboot or shut down.)

Yes, I have an old Acer Aspire One and I put a new hard drive in it and installed AntiX along with a few AntiX ISOs. Long story there, but I love MX and AntiX due to how easy it is to create a custom ISO, which I boot from and work mostly from that. Had lots of computer problems in the past….
Anyway, so the computer goes to sleep about every 30 seconds whether I am using it or not. Even during boot! I have tried doing the acpi=off command in GRUB which does work but then the display is wrong, with only 800×600 available. So I am looking for a way to keep it from sleeping without using acpi=off or fix the resolution issue using it. More random information that will probably just cause more confusion instead of helping:
Sometimes the screen never comes back on when I try to wake it from these unexpected sleep sessions.
An older AntiX ISO (19.2 or 19.1) works fine, even though modified. But do any updates and problem is back.
AntiX is not the only distro to have this problem.
And the Aspire One seems to have lots of people confused over this on the ‘Net.
Windows also works fine, no issues other than being Windows.
I have tried editing the laptoplidswitch in logind but the problem still persists.
The ISO file works fine on other computers (bare metal or virtualbox)
I also had problems with internet, but eventually discovered it was due to installing another network app.
The Acer Aspire One is old so of course it’s using the 32bit version.
So, there you have it. There is probably something that gets updated or upgraded between 19.2 and 19.3 that causes this, and it is something used by various other apps such that even just avoiding an upgrade isn’t enough, you need to check on each app you install. Or maybe it’s just automatic? I know it’s an old laptop, but the battery is still great and it’s so small and portable. Any help would be appreciated, thank you all in advance.
