The search bar at the top works however not.
Forum is too new and not enough threads yet. I think it just searches this forum and not google.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
synclient should be already installed on antix-full.
You can try
For turning the touchpad off
synclient TouchpadOff=1
for turning on
synclient TouchpadOff=0
Just a tip, without wanting to be admonitory, the “Search Forums” under “Register” on the right side of the forum-side shows some outcomes for disable touchpad. The search bar at the top works however not.

If you’re on a laptop with a sensitive touchpad, your hand might be brushing the touchpad as you type. If that is the problem, you can disable the touchpad entirely or you can set a delay of a couple of seconds so that brushing it while typing doesn’t make the cursor jump. There are some good threads on this at the MX site (discussing what commands for delay work best and where to put them).

That’s weird, I just used that same command on my dist-upgraded antix and it doesn’t work to disable the touchpad …. just downright weird!
so I installed xserver-xorg-input-synaptics tried it again, and still didn’t work. What a bummer!

Use the packageinstaller app in the menu or control centre to install latest firefox
I’ll give it a spin, Thanks, mizpa
UPPDATE: well, that went well, now after installing, the ‘package installer’ and the ‘done’ dialog box are froze up! So I guess the only cure is to reboot so I can install something else – to disable the touchpad. (a different thread)

You can do this with synclient. I do not remember the options but it should be easy enough to review the help or man page after installing.
Then you can use xev to retrieve key codes and assign them to the command via your window managers key file as found in the control centre under desktop.
So what I think you’re saying is that I need to apt-get something called ‘synclient’ and also ‘xev’ so that I can disable the touchpad. I’ll search for those and get them installed.
Thanks, mizpa

How do I disable the Touchpad? it’s annoying as **** to be typing out something and all of a sudden it disappears or is moved somewhere else in the text. I end up with a bunch of FFE’s!

I added the two entries to the Control Center Start-up script
found at MainMenu>ControlCenter>Session>User…>startup
to tame my own typing difficulties:
# Uncomment to Disable touchpad
synclient TouchpadOff=1
# Uncomment to Disable caps-lock toggle
setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

The synclient program is installed in antiX-17-full. If it doesn’t work for you then you can install xinput and use that to control the touchpad. I used xinput to enable and disable stuff on a 2-in-1 I was running antiX on.
