LXQT and KDE-plasma are qt based, and all antiX apps are gtk based, so to keep a consistent look it is better to remain on a gtk system.
Also, KDE is everywhere (antiX DE edition would be “another one”), while lxqt is the main DE for sparky, which “competes” with antiX for low resource computers.
sparky also has a MATE edition, but nobody really uses it (it is not main).
There is no other live-USB aimed distro (not counting kali or parrot, as they are for penetration and security) using MATE, so this could also be a plus.

It has been years since I touched MATE, so I will have to check it out.

About GTK3 integration, this was already done in Mate 1.20 (current stable/buster version), so only wayland is missing, but I hope they don’t force it like with gnome3 (installing gdm3 uses wayland as default, and that breaks my system; now I know you can change the gdm config so wayland=false, but I don’t like them forcing the change without asking).

Good news is that they have increased support for ‘elogind’ (see 1.24 release information), something they will hopefully continue with despite planning to provide full support for ‘systemd-logind’.

That is good in case Debian decides init plurality isn’t worth it.

        from NoClue came:

That translation issue is not the only one and is there for a looong while already (and anti knows of it).
Actualy, IceWM on German is completely screwed up and shouldn’t be used.
I’m not sure if it’s easily fixable though.

Before going any further we (the plurality behind Moddit) request details of what is screwed up and details as to why Ice is in his (NoClue) consideration not to be used in German. This would also provide enlightenment to other members following this thread.

There may be background issues unknown to us.

Who planted that ?. Paint the roses, the queen hates white roses.

We (Moddit is a Plurality) have been trimming down the menu to only show what we need on a regular basis.
Most of the job has been straightforward and easy. What we have not found, or maybe overlooked is how to hide or remove the lower 3 entrys. Focus, wishes, themes. Any information on how to do that would be greatly appreciated.

            Flashback to 2015

skiterm is a wonderful app, we’ve been using it locally for 4yrs.
Didn’t bother arguing with fathead when he stepped on my rainbow…

The python+gtk app derived from clicompanion would have added about 72kb (kilobytes) to the ISO.

            Plurality ?

although I would never use this (we do not “dist-upgrade”) <10kb amenity script which PPC has advocated…
toward supporting PPC’s effort, I have further tweaked it https://gitlab.com/skidoo/odds-n-ends/blob/master/updater-misko.sh

            .

            .

and here’s another amenity script, “window switcher” (for any wm environemnt) suitable for Alt+Tab global keybind:

            https://gitlab.com/skidoo/odds-n-ends/blob/master/winswitch-misko.sh

            @PPC
read the inline comments within the script. I still consider it to be a WIP; want it to test for general internet availability + test availability of each of the servers active in sources lists prior to attempting the update operation.

re: note the percentage always remains in “0%”
fixed that and a few other rough edges which were attributable to the change from zenity to yad ~~ not all of their commandline options are identical.

Somehow, I’m in agreement with nearly 100% of your July 16, 2019 at 8:49 am post.

              The wallpaper:
howabout… for SLiM, use a version of the “4 windmills” wallpaper, with yellow sky swapped for blue
(maybe even insert the Don_Quixote silhouette, as an insiders joke)
              and
either same (sans Don_Quixote) for wallpaper, or the cityscape with matching blue moon.
Hopefully that would achieve an agreeable (not “burn out PPC’s eyes”) result.

prox, I agree that additional info on the download page would be helpful.

Coincidentally, I had intended to post within the “plurality” topic later today, to mention that multiple onboarding entrypoints exist
(incl: project page at sourceforge.net, antixlinux.com homepage, project page at distrowatch.com)
and, across the entrypoints, the description(s) presented contain a few discrepancies
(192MB min, or 256? Supports PII cpu, or not?) (the current FAQ still claims PII support)

a presentation like this (with horizontal dividers) would provide a clear delineation

                _______________________________________________________________________________

The following completely systemd-free flavours for both 32 and 64 bit architecture are offered:

antiX-full (c1GB) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm, plus full libreoffice suite
antiX-base (c680MB so fits on a cd) – 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), fluxbox, jwm and herbstluftwm
                _______________________________________________________________________________

Also, for expert users (who are comfortable with building up a customized debian-based linux system):

                antiX-core (c330MB) systemd-free – no X, but should support most wireless
antiX-net (c170MB) systemd-free – no X. Just enough to get you connected (wired) and ready to build.

                _______________________________________________________________________________

                note: blahblah … libre

one FAQ-ish detail still not filled in, above:
Which, if any, provide libre kernel (or ability to easily remove non-free components) ?

there’s still no good reason against having a ‘simpler’ 32-bit version and a ‘more sophisticated’ 64-bit version.

After having expended much effort (in the “antix-contribs” topic) toward elucidating the time-consuming and exacting workflow required to bring changes to a (one) package to fruition, I’m disappointed to now read such a “mired in ignorance” declaration from you.

Regardless whether we’re able to have a conversation or are each just bent on “talking past each other”, we should not further pollute this “betatesting” topic.
