I found that the problem is the existence of folders in /etc/sv/

      Do this and reboot

      sudo rm -r /etc/sv/connman
      sudo rm -r /etc/sv/dbus

If you want to avoid writing errors, you could also remove:

      /etc/sv/acpi-support
      /etc/sv/anacron
      /etc/sv/avahi-daemon
      /etc/sv/bluetooth
      /etc/sv/cron
      /etc/sv/cups
      /etc/sv/dundee
      /etc/sv/gpm
      /etc/sv/haveged
      /etc/sv/ofono
      /etc/sv/rmnologin
      /etc/sv/rpcbind
      /etc/sv/rsync
      /etc/sv/saned
      /etc/sv/smartmontools
      /etc/sv/ssh
      /etc/sv/sudo

I will contact the dev team and ask if there is a better solution.

The main reason to disqualify Pcmanfm for my use: It does not seem capable of addressing network shares.

you might try gigolo along with PCManFM. I haven’t had the need for such shares in a while, I use more sshfs or ssh once a while, but I remember it solved it completely, once the connection was done, I could see the related network in the left side of the file manager.
Also in PCManFM you can visit the menu “Go to > Networks” and you land at the URI ” network:/// ” (Probably meant to use Samba to reach to Windows boxes, but anyway gigolo would let you connect your regular other linux boxes).

What I like about PCManFM : it is simple to use and to configure, has anything I need, even dual side panel when needed : when you have two tabs open, you can hit “F3” or use the “View > Double Pane Mode” entry menu. (I guess the names in English, I have it in French).

There are a few more things others appreciate. There is a list here : https://wiki.lxde.org/en/PCManFM and modules you can write an load (see in Edition > Preferences).

        🙂

Also the firewall has a -. I was taking then a look to Control Center / System / Choose Startup Services:

zram has a x in runlevel 2,3,4,5 (not S). The firewall (ufw) has x in runlevel S (no other). udev also has a x in runlevel S. So why ufw is – and udev i + on the above list? And why zram is – and anyway working?

Last questions: Is algorithm lzo ok for zram? In zswap they say, that lz4 and lz4ho are better. But how I would change this? In the zram script it is not set…so default lzo. And also zram script is using another methode to create the zram? No zramctl to see there. Or can I use zramctl on a existing zram, without to change the size or to create it new?

I’m not familiar with the program but noticed the site gives different instructions for installing onto antiX.

            2. Another method to install Max Auto Clicker is to lunch this command in terminal or ssh :

            sudo dpkg -i maxautoclicker_1.1_amd64.deb

Or (for AntiX Linux) : sudo apt install maxautoclicker_1.1_amd64.deb

I didn’t see the source code, did you? Maybe I didn’t look in the right place. I’m leery of installing things that are unknown.

i have install it using this command, now is working and is listed in program menu thx
            sudo apt install maxautoclicker_1.1_amd64.deb

This application is cross-platform and is ported from windows to linux ubuntu.
and is mentionned that 100 % Clean software : no spywares, no viruses, no adwares and exist version in Softpedia for windows 🙂

            thanks for you!!

I have created a new user on the live system of Core, using the following command:

                    useradd -m -g users bob -s /bin/bash

However after running the cli-installer I end up with these permissions on that /home directory:

                    # ls -l /home
                    total 4
                    drwxr-xr-x 4 1000 1000 4096 May 6 05:29 bob

But I would expect to see:

                    drwxr-xr-x 4 bob users 4096 May 6 05:29 bob

After I manually correct that with:

                    chown -R bob:users /home/bob

                    ssh then starts working correctly.

Just wondering am I creating the user wrong?

                    thanks!

                      Hi Roland,
Before you write things like there will be little response from China although I will mention it to AliExpress who will doubtless be concerned to learn that one
of their sellers is selling rubbish.

Test the board slot with a known working card.
Test the card you have in another computer, also under Windows, better Vers 7 than 10 too.

Cheapskating: You searched for lowest possible price from china and not for a product claimed or in any way garanteed to work with any linux version.

If you are absolutely sure the card is defective, that is after testing as above you should consider the possibility of production defect, transport damage too.

Then you can contact the seller in a mannerly fashion, carefully explain the situation and ask for help.

Should you use the style from your forum post boldly claiming he sold you rubbish he would be as likely to help you as I would in his situation, simply not at all.

Rouge sellers and assholes are far more common in other countrys than china, remember the sellers there have family honor and reputation to lose as well as the need
to keep there family fed and clothed.

I have had more disgusting experiences with German local purchases than with any I have made in CN. Much worse and way way more expensive in terms of financial loss..

Runit is very new to me, do we need some special magic to read logs if any are written.
Bullseye a2 runit /etc/sv status looks like below. Seems directory is accessed at minimum
                        once every every second.

We have the following available at no cost:

                          grsync (1) – GTK+ frontend for rsync
                          grsync-batch (1) – Grsync batch session runner

luckybackup (8) – a powerful, fast and reliable backup & sync tool
                          luckybackup-pkexec (8) – a powerful, fast and reliable backup & sync tool

rsync (1) – a fast, versatile, remote (and local) file-copying tool
rsync-ssl (1) – a helper script for connecting to an ssl rsync daemon
rsyncd.conf (5) – configuration file for rsync in daemon mode

ntfscp (8) – copy file to an NTFS volume.
scp (1) – OpenSSH secure file copy

The description of GoodSync indicates that:

                          These are the components provided:
                          * gsync — command line version of GoodSync client.
                          * gs-server — GoodSync server that serves files via GSTP protocol.
                          * gscp — GoodSync file system command line client, to download / upload / rename files.

It seems to me that the tools provided above also provide these services, are available, not proprietary, and they have no cost.
I found all of the commands I noted above using an apropos command for sync and scp.

                          --

                          oops

                            … My first impression
I like the way antiX-Runit bullseye works, it’s fast and pretty simple
and not to much memory and process.
                            (tried via VM VirtualBox)

PS: The logo with neofetch is Debian instead antiX.

                              Howdy,

I can’t speak for your hardware, but I do have antiX installed on a server in my basement. It’s an old PIII with half a gig of RAM. I’m not doing anything terribly exciting with it. It’s an SSH/SFTP server, and though I haven’t got anything like Duplicati or Syncthing on it, I do have my own backup script and versioning with rsync as the backbone, and it all works fine for my particular needs. Your NAS box sounds like it’s got a lot more going for it than my old Presario.

The only downside I can imagine is the GUI. I’m not sure what you would do for that except set up a VNC server to manage it. Mine is a headless box managed through SSH, which I would definitely recommend.

As for Nextcloud, I tried it once last year, and that lasted less than a week. I found it to be terribly slow and full of bugs.

                              Best of luck to you.

As it is likely an arm based system antiX will not run on it anyway.
Debian runs on a nas fine (I have a dlink setup with debian) but you will likely find to run anything gui will be slow. (my dlink only has 512mb of ram). However it is possible to run a vnc service over ssh for this task. Samba, webserver, Owncloud all seem to run fine. In fact the first year of the antiX repo’s existence was piloted on one of these hacked dlinks. If you are looking for an high performance nas, it will most likely become a computer. Fanless computers seem to make good “high performance” nas systems. You can probably find a cheap one with decent ram/cpu but with 2 network cards. Then you can attach the nas directly with the one network card with a minimal debian install with nfs-kernel-server+raid, mount the kernel server share on the fanless computer and use the fanless computer for all the heavy duty fancy network tasks you are looking for.

Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening Windows. ~Author Unknown

scrot issues has the phrase, selected focused window.
The word focused seems misplaced there. (?)
The action button has focus; the window is redrawn in its unfocused state just as it was captured.(?) It needs to be brought back with focus (?) instead of active without focus. It cannot be manipulated without being current. Iconified remain iconified(?)
