I think you may have misunderstood. It’s not designed to work as a client for L2TP and PPTP. As mentioned at the head of the post the suite is not exactly what you were asking about, it might have been an alternative route to explore.

Understood….unfortunately I need the l2tp and pptp functionality to connect to my client networks….

Although the following is not exactly what you are asking about, it might give you an extra option to explore.

The recent launch of antiX-17 introduced a new app named SSH-Conduit.
It is a suite that:

• Has a primary goal of accessing, and/or providing, a range of resources on unattended remote systems,
• Is designed with simplicity of operation in mind,
• Performs well on both ancient and modern systems,
• Is self contained. Except for an ISP, connections across the internet do not depend upon the availability of third party services.

Installing it is easily done from the Package Installer, Remote Access section.
Main Menu➞Control Centre➞System Tab➞Package Installer

A system may act either as a client, as a server, or both concurrently.

The suite provides 4 ways of working securely within an encrypted tunnel:

• CLI: A standard command line terminal,
• FS : Add (mount) a remote folder into the local system or remove (unmount) it,
• VNC: Operate the desktop of a remote system,
• VPN: Join or leave a remote network.

Each of the ways may be used alone, or together in any combination.

The VPN can operate in 3 modes:
System-to-Site
The remote network handles everything including web browsing and DNS queries
This is equivalent to being physically present at the remote site
Typical use: connecting from an untrusted location to a trusted network
Site-to-Site
The local network handles everything including web browsing and DNS queries
The remote network provides access to its resources
This is equivalent to a bridge between two discrete networks
Typical use: connecting a trusted network to another trusted network

For each of the suite components, connections are set up using the suite GUI in either of 2 forms:

• Make an ad hoc connection by manually inputting the information for each session,
• Create and save a profile that may be selected manually or automatically for a session.
