I would be very interested to know how it works in your hardware as well since I only tested it in my own and my friend’s.

Your hardware should be able to handle scale=ewa_lanczossharp with FSRCNN-8 perhaps even FSRCNN-16 version although the quality improvement of 16 over 8 is minimal. Again, depends on the video resolution and display/monitor/TV resolution. 480p/360p content on 1080p/2K monitor would be interesting.

I also added FSR.glsl. Although FSR is by AMD, it works on intel iGPU as well. There is also the NVScaler.glsl for Nvidia GPUs.

      https://gist.github.com/agyild

In my testing, if you only use mpv’s built-in scalers, then in terms of image/video quality (for Luma plane only):

      bilinear(default for mpv) < bicubic(default for a lot of other media players including vlc) < spline36(set as default in mpv’s built-in gpu-hq profile) = lanczos(sharper but more ringing artifacts than spline36) < spline64 < ewa_robidouxsharp < ewa_lanczossharp(very high quality)

Of course, in terms of speed the order is reverse, for obvious reasons. Better scalers require more GPU resource.

Highest possible image/video quality combination is ewa_lanczossharp+FSRCNN-8 for Luma upscale, KrigBilateral+cscale=ewa_lanczossoft/sharp for chroma plane upscale, deband=yes, SSimDownscaler+mitchell for dscale. Used with vo=gpu, gpu-api=opengl and hwdec=no.

That scaler combo is for Real-life content. For anime, Anime4K is supposedly better. I haven’t tested it yet. I haven’t watched very many anime lately.

Hi, I (almost) always update using CLI and I often see the same (or at least very similar) AttributeError when updating when remotely SSH-connected to an antiX-21 (stable) machine.

EDIT: I use ‘fluxbox’ almost exclusively.

Is the package faq-docs-antix 0.6.5 installed on your system? It seems to be complaining about removing a file that is part of that package.

The maintainer of both packages is anticapitalista, so you might ask him directly about the conflict (assuming you already have faq-docs-antix installed).

P.S. Same problem reported in post 77970 in Feb. They removed faq-docs-antix package and were able to install ssh-conduit-antix.

                    …from Windows or Android…

I can’t advise about those OSs.

                    …remote control to Antix GUI…

Do you mean control the desktop of this system i.e. it is running a VNC server on antiX?

,,,via VNC from the same network or if i set portforwarding, I can connect from outside?

VNC connections within the same LAN do not require port forwarding.
VNC connections from outside the LAN require forwarding a port in a router to the antiX system on which the VNC server is running inside the LAN.

                    Security
The default is for both 1-to-1 Assistance and SSH-Conduit to make secure connections between the server and viewer systems. If you do not use either of these apps you are responsible for implementing your own security measures. It is extremely unwise to make a connection from outside the router to a system inside the LAN without proper security.

                    A Potential Way Forward
The following should enable you to make a secure end-to-end connection using the app defaults. It assumes no one will be seated at the server system.

On the system inside the LAN on which the VNC server is to be run:
                    • Install antiX (or create an antiX live USB flash drive)
                    • Install SSH-Conduit
                    • Ensure your SSH server is running
                    • Forward a port in your router to the system on which the VNC server is running
                    • Start the SSH-Conduit VNC server

On the system outside the LAN on which the VNC viewer is to be run:
                    • Create an antiX live USB flash drive
                    • Install SSH-Conduit
                    • Boot the system using the antiX live USB flash drive
                    • Start the SSH-Conduit VNC viewer and connect to the world facing IP addess of the remote router

                    External Factors
Irrespective of whether you use antiX apps or commercial apps, be aware that any policies or practices in place at either the server or viewer locations might interfere with establishing a connection between them. Consider, if you are trying to do this from a location outside your LAN (e.g. the site of your employer, or some other untrusted site), ensure what you are trying to achieve is permitted.

While setting up, it is possible to eliminate external problems by initially creating a VNC server and a VNC viewer on separate systems within your LAN. Once you have this working you can introduce a connection from outside your LAN. The advantage of this method is any problems at this stage stem from beyond your known good and working LAN based systems.

                      No advice on Teamviewr.

antiX provides its own in house packages for remote control via VNC:
                      • 1-to-1 Assistance
                      • SSH Conduit
Both are available from the Package Installer in the antiX Control Centre

                      1-to-1 Assistance requires:
                      • antiX + 1-to-1 Assistance is running on both the server and viewer systems
                      • Someone is seated at the server system
                      • Someone is seated at the viewer system

                      SSH-Conduit requires
                      • antiX + SSH-Conduit is running on both the server and viewer systems
                      • Someone is seated at the viewer system
                      • No one is needed at the server system

Both are secure and straightforward to use and lightweight while operating because most of the configuration and optimizing is already done. They are well suited to modern high powered systems and elderly low powered systems.

Another lightweight option is available for remote control via VNC:
                      • x11vnc
It is available as an individual app from the Package Installer in the antiX Control Centre, and is also installed as part of 1-to-1 Assistance and SSH-Conduit.

                      x11vnc is suitable when:
                      • The server system is running x11vnc
                      • The viewer system is running a VNC viewer of your choice
                      • You are willing to conduct all the configuration yourself

The output after Ctrl+Alt+F1 I don’t think says anything meaningful.

After pkill -9 smtube SMTube closed but the screen with the video was still open. I had to use App killer to close it, but the cpu usage was still at 25%.

According to Htop mpv it is still working after killing it…

The computer is my work computer and I won’t be able to use it again until Monday (fortunately 😉

Personally when I was using multiple systems in a work environment I would use SSH for simple file transfer or basic login.

For an actual login screen I would use one of the VNC programs. The other brand name alternatives I’ve never heard of, seen or read about prior to this thread.

VNC works well across Linux, UNIX and Windows systems.

Hello, I’ve been using antiX 19 for a while and just did a fresh install of antiX 21 (full) on a different PC (have both 19 and 21 installed now). I’ve searched for both ssh-conduit-antix and faq-docs-antix but don’t find anything relevant, so here’s what I think is a bug report.

After installation finished and system rebooted, I started adding applications. When trying to install ssh-conduit-antix I get the following message:

E: /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-mB7ULa/07-ssh-conduit-antix_1.1.4_all.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/antiX/FAQ/images/ssh-conduit/adm_change_vnc_password.jpg', which is also in package faq-docs-antix 0.6.5

If I remove faq-docs-antix then ssh-conduit-antix does install, but then of course the “Help” icon on the desktop has nothing to display.

I hope the formatting is ok; I can’t find a preview option. Thank you.

                              Hi,

antiX can be used by a SW developer.
Depends on the needs; e.g. if most of the services are run/developed on Virtual Machines, “all” you need is a working SSH.
Regarding IDE: VSCodium DEB package can be manually downloaded and installed in antiX (it worked for me, I believe I had troubles with one version but another worked); there is a vim-plugin ALE and others than enhance it to an IDE, see e.g. https://vim.fandom.com/wiki/Use_Vim_like_an_IDE

I would assume that many/most of your requirements can be dealt with with manually downloaded packages or those in the repositories.
I have no other advice than: Try and see for yourself.

The above assumes, of course, that the host is of adequate size to accommodate the virtual disk in /home.

                                Example: Host(my operating system) = 50G
                                virtual hard disk = 20G
                                the create command is:
                                qemu-img create -f qcow2 virtu.img 20G

The data exchange after an installation I do between client and host e.g. in zzzFM:
                                sftp://male@IP-of-the-host/
The client needs openssh-client and the host additionally openssh-server.

Maybe also interesting to do only the ISO test in Qemu:
                                Example without (U)Efi:
                                qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -k de -smp 2 -m 2048 -vga std -monitor stdio -snapshot -cdrom /media/Distris/antiX/antiX-21-runit_x64-base.iso -name runit -boot d

Finally it is worth to have a look at QEMU in the package management of Debian.

                                  Fresh 19.5 iso files available.

antiX-19.5 is a point release update of our 19 series based on Debian buster.

As usual we offer the following completely systemd-free (and for this particular upgrade – elogind-free) flavours for both 32 and 64 bit architecture. Available iso files for sysVinit or runit.

This is predominantly an update of our last release (19.4).
NOTE: elogind, libpam-elogind and libelogind0 have also been removed.
Instead we use seatd and consolekit.
Many upstream core Debian packages have been rebuilt to remove a hard dependency on libsystemd0/libelogind0
These include apt, cups, dbus, gvfs, openssh, policykit-1, procps, pulseaudio, rpcbind, rsyslog, samba, sane-backends, udisks2, util-linux, webkit2gtk and xorg-server
