      My external USB cd/dvd drive (a massive LG super multi) is not recognized by xfburn on my 2006 Dell Optiplex 740 Athlon computer even if Antix 17.1 detected the drive.

      I found the solution at :

      The following command gave me the detail of my external optical drive :

      The problem comes from the ID_TYPE=generic as xfburn requires an ID_TYPE=cd.
      (In the Ubuntu post the ID_TYPE was weirder : ‘floppy’). So with the command :
      $ sudo geany
      I edited /etc/udev/90-usb-semiauto.rules (since /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules doesn’t exist in Antix 17.1) and followed the rest of the instructions of the post:

      2. add a new line SUBSYSTEM==”block”, ENV{ID_CDROM}==”?*”, ENV{ID_SERIAL}==”xxxxxxx”, ENV{ID_TYPE}=”cd”, ENV{GENERATED}=”1″
      3. replace “xxxxxxx” with the serial number of your device from the above lines
      4. save and restart xfburn, and also unplug and replug the device.

      And it works!

            Looks to be OK. You might want to have a swap partition with a low ram count there, otherwise, I don’t think you’ll need do anything but install it, Broadcom is quite well supported.

            (I’d suggest 5 to 6GB for your / – plus 1.5 to 2GB swap – the rest for /home.)

            Linux (& BSD) since 1999

              I don’t quite remember what I did in the installer, but I’ve just installed 17.2 to a new computer, so presumably EFI, & what I did was to uncheck a box about Windows 10 secure boot in the (equivalent of) BIOS, then I was able to install with the partitioning that I wanted.

              Root partition about 7GB, swap partition 4GB (same amount as ram), the rest went to my /home partition.

              Hopefully this will give you an idea of how to set up your system.

                        Hi, I just installed antix 17.1 full x64.
                        I receive this error when I first open wicd:

                        The wicd D-bus interface can not be connected. Check the wicd log for any error messages.

                        Press OK and open another window:

                        Error connecting to wicd service via D-Bus. Please ensure the wicd service is running.

                        Then it opens and works normally.

                        (sorry for imperfect english)

                        Thanks.

                          Working on installing acpi-tools (acpi was already installed in the base antiX install). Will try the Fn keys again after installation of the tools, and (I suspect) editing of some config file(s) to get them to work properly. Thanks for the link!

                            I pasted the inxi -Fxzr configuration and disappeared. Why?
                            The problems persists after install XFCE.

                                Shoot. Mis read the whole thread. I thought you had 2 500 gig drives in 2 bays.
                                So the bios thing. Never mind.

                                UEFI is a head ache for me when it comes to dual boot. Hence why I swap drives.

                                Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.

                                  I just swap out drives anymore.Hence why I don’t respond to UEFI dual boot threads.

                                  You basically did what I do normally. But in your case. I would probably tell the bios what drive to boot 1st instead of physically removing screws and swapping drives. Install MX grub to the MBR of the drive MX was installed to.

                                  Use bios instead of a screw driver. Windows is rarely needed by me any more to tune motorcycles. Software is too pricey.
