Its called pseudo-code. It becomes documentation and explains how the program should work, from a design view.
Step 8 and 7 should be swapped. If the window was added, just exit. No need to sleep another second before exiting.
See if you can figure out how to code it…

Dear users,
Here is a copy of my fstab to handle f2fs formatting on a USB 3.0 stick/key.
# Pluggable devices are handled by uDev, they are not in fstab UUID=85c897e2-99c3-425f-883f-f478319669aa / f2fs nodiscard,noatime,lazytime 0 0 UUID=1486d372-b599-42d0-978c-ad7c6daf9060 /boot ext4 nodiscard,noatime 0 2 UUID=3a7c8257-800d-49bd-9186-0df74cb1cdaa swap swap defaults 0 0You will notice in the
– the second to last column that I put zeros everywhere because I don’t use dump,
– the last column (fdisk) that I also put zeros for the swap and f2fs partitions. (*) (**)(*) As fdisk is very slow to run on f2fs partitions, it is recommended to disable the option.
(**) For the /boot partition in ext4, you can put 2 or 0. It is up to you.
During installation, antiX considers the fourth partition FAT32 as another USB stick and will therefore be managed by uDev.
Best regards,

Dear users,
I have found a solution.
You need to install at least 3 partitions;
1) a 512 M /boot partition formatted ext4,
2) a swap partition formatted swap,
3) a /root partition formatted f2fs,
4) you can have a 4th partition for data shared with other OS.While upgrading a fresh install, Debian wanted to update the Grub. I said yes and chose the /boot partition.
I rebooted the PC and it appears that the Grub is broken.With another Live USB key, I followed the following steps;
1) control centre,
2) disk
3) automount
4) I unchecked automountThen I did this;
1) control centre
2) maintenance,
3) boot repair
4) reinstall Grub
5.1) install in MBR
5.2) location: sdb
5.3) select root location: sdb3 (/root)I have repaired the Grub successfully.
For people who are disappointed with Ubuntu, come and try antiX on a USB stick formatted in f2fs. It works very well.
Best regards,

oops
… Good idea Qwerty .
An other workaround is to use zswap.

Making a system to start swapping earlier is called “vm.watermark_scale_factor”. I feel like it’s the most relevant setting that should be changed first. It should be high for low-RAM desktop systems. Its upper bound is 1000 (= 10% of memory), which seems to be a reasonable choice for something like a 2-Gb-RAM system that’s used with heavy software like modern browsers (and by “heavy” I mean allocating and deallocating big chucks of memory often). Depending on your hardware and software, other values can make sense.
As for “vm.swappiness”, I set it to 100 for my frugal antiX installation. I don’t know if I need it that high now, but I left kept it from the time I was doing experiments running a live system from a USB flash drive with a swap on an HDD, in which case swapping to HDD was strictly better. It works fine. In any case, setting it to any relatively large value should be a good idea in the context of low-RAM PCs.
Other settings to experiment with may be “vm.dirty_background_ratio”, “vm.dirty_ratio”, “vm.vfs_cache_pressure”, but it’s unclear to me if it’s worth the effort.- This reply was modified 7 months ago by Qwerty.

@rokytnji: In regard to the use or lack of use of swap, yes, I do create a swap partition. However, I’ve rarely seen it used AT ALL on any of my systems; I just don’t keep that many things running at the same time. Moreover, ESPECIALLY with antiX, the Web browser is one of the few apps that actually consumes a lot of memory. Frankly, the HIGHEST memory consumption I usually see is somewhere between 1.1 – 1.5 GB, occasionally slightly more; I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen it over 2 GB; even my OLD systems have that much memory, so I very seldom use ANY swap.
Frankly the one application for swap is suspending to disk, and temporarily lowering, but not quite eliminating, all power consumption; even when an operation like that writes to swap, it’s infrequent and doesn’t consume all of it.
