I was able to get a properly functioning network on installations of MX Linux (first), could not initially get networking installed on antiX (second) or siduction (third).
Today I installed Xubuntu’s latest LTS; EXTREMELY long, slow load and installation, but it works fine once installed (fourth).
Finally, I figured that PCLinuxOS would install and work (it does; fifth).
I’m here now with PCLinuxOS; here is the configuration:

Dear users,
I have this message in my dmesg file.
[ 18.268470] FAT-fs (sda3): utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive!
sda1 (swap) and sda2 (root, home…) are in my fstab.
sda3 is not in my fstab.
I don’t understand this message well.
Is it dangerous for my data?
Is there anything I need to change in antiX and how do I do it?
Best regards,
Wallon

Swap size the same size as memory is insufficient; make it larger; twice the memory size if possible; that works.
If manually suspending the system works and that’s enough then don’t change anything.

If you are sure my suggestion is irrelevant feel free to ignore it; that’s what I have done in the past and it did work for me to enable suspend and hibernate.
Try another solution, it’s OK with me.
Brian,
I wasn’t suggesting it was irrelevant, rather looking for clarification. The Swap partition is already the same size as the memory. That doesn’t seem to work. So the other solution is that I taught my wife how to Suspend the session and wake it up again after.

Brian,
I’m not sure I’m following. I don’t think swap partition space would matter when trying to get AntiX to automatically Suspend/Hibernate after a specified period of time. I have no issues with clicking Leave, than Suspend button to Suspend the laptop. What am I missing?

At the moment I’m using today’s update of the Firefox Nightly Web browser, version 107.0a1 (2022-09-22) (64-bit).
It runs well, but I just checked memory usage with this thing using htop; WOW! It uses a LOT of virtual memory: 12.4G; that’s MORE than the ACTUAL memory I HAVE on this system (8G). Resident memory used is a lot more reasonable, but still a lot: 646M; SHR, shared memory is decent and it means that quite a bit of it can be used with other processes IF they happen to use the same resources: 209M.
With this browser running, total system memory actively used is 1.28G/7.68G, according to Conky; at peak usage, htop was showing system memory used as 1.51G/7.68G; as I mentioned a few moments ago, I rarely actually use the SWAP that’s allocated; htop confirms this: 0K/8.00G.
Given that I have plenty of available memory, these numbers don’t bother me, and they lead to pretty decent page performance, but I can tell you this – this nightly browser, which has additional testing stuff enabled, consumes more memory than any other browser I’ve recently used, and more than the development beta and certainly more than the released versions of Firefox or other Web browsers. I use it though, and my “reward” is that I seldom encounter issues with the released browsers because I usually find any new issues during testing!

I don’t know how you have your system set up, but based on past situations when I’ve set up either Suspend, Hibernate, or both, they do come with some prerequisites:
1) Swap partition, typically enough for AT LEAST the amount of RAM (memory) in your system; the old recommendation used to be TWICE the amount of system memory; that can be a LOT of space that’s seldom actually used EXCEPT when Suspend or Hibernate functions are actually used.
2) Enough disk space to allocate a swap space greater than the size of your system memory!
If you meet these requirements, try setting up your system accordingly and see if it makes any difference.
CAVEAT: these USED to be the requirements; I’ve used Suspend and Hibernate in the past, but I’ve not done so recently, so I can not guarantee from RECENT personal experience that these are the correct or only current requirements; check my information out to see if it is still accurate information!

I’m not asking for any help on this issue, but I thought it could be helpful to just signal it.
I installed Antix21 on an ASUS Z87 motherboard with an I5 processor with integrated graphics (full details on the system below). I was surprised to find that the computer crashed when displaying a webm video in mpv or celluloid, since the hardware is between 8 and 10 years old. The system freezes after 10 seconds or so, or immediately on resizing the video window in IceWM. Only way to recover is rebooting the computer. After uninstalling the 5.10 kernel the system works just fine in every respect on the 4.9.0 kernel.
Just one small annoyance: the system finds two sound devices (hda-intel-hdmi and hda-intel-pch. It only works with the second one but seems to produce a somewhat lower quality sound then the same hardware under Windows 10. This may be in my imagination only however since I can’t hear them next to each other.

The more I read replies, the more I think that some of you think this is a problem with updating/upgrading. There are no problems with updating/upgrading (I updated/upgraded(and cleaned) my system successfully), the problem I have is freezing terminal. As I explained, It would get stuck for some reason until it got some input. Also, how is my swap space unmounted, when it’s being used rn?

I do not think you have a bug. On installs now over 3 figures the
shell has always just worked. Please look for cause not effect.
Looking at the data I think the lack of space on disk is root problem,
plus your swap shows as unmounted.
Can you move data to a USB stick ?. When you update room is needed to
download packages and then unpack and install them. @times packages
will be waiting for an autoremove to clean up.
Apt commands are now a little different to those you post: unless
working as su prefix with sudo.
The internal disk is replaceable but very exotic.
As far as I can see in a quick search second hand and uneconomical.
A high quality (I buy 64GB) USB stick is it
seems the best extended storage solution available for your device.
apt update, apt upgrade, apt full-upgrade, at times apt-dist-upgrade.
Maybe an apt clean can be of help, the apt cache can become very big.
Since antiX iso files were released there have been a lot of updates
and upgrades in packages, all those are kept in the apt cache to avoid
need for a fresh download on a reinstall.
I do the sudo apt clean to cleanup cache on fresh installs immediately
after upgrading.
