      Hello,
I have a problem with 3D graphics acceleration after I install antix on my hard disk, for example glxgears shows a black window only, while it works in the live session if I boot from DVD.

The output of inxi -Fxz -r is the following:

Hi. I have already written here about having the same issue.
My system is not dual boot. I have Nvidia; not ATI-Radeon.
I notice that the times I don’t have the issue are the times the WiFi adapter is disconnected before rebooting.

                Hi all,

I’ve installed antix19 on my i3 dell inspiron 580 system and updated the distribution and kernel.

It’s a really great distro IMHO.

But on boot, the system hangs with black screen and frozen cursor
for about 1:30secs before booting into IceWM.

Any ideas what is happening? is this normal operation?

Thank you for your post. I followed your instructions and generated a new /etc/fstab.

The new fstab is very similar to my original fastab (see below).
I ended up reverting to the original /etc/fstab since I liked the options better.

And during the generation of the new /etc/fstab, the following mountpoints were created in /media:

                  cdrom
                  cdrw
                  dvd
                  dvdrw
                  sr0
                  user (which is my username)

P.S When I insert a removable USB flash drive formatted in FAT32, a new mountpoint is typically created and shows up in the /media/user directory.

During the fresh install of antiX-19, shouldn’t the antiX-19 installer have created all these mountpoints?

As noted above, I preferred the original fstab file over the newly generated one:

                  Original /etc/fstab

                  # Pluggable devices are handled by uDev, they are not in fstab

Hi there, I have installed antiX-19_x64-core.iso on a Virtualbox VM then updated and installed the antix-snapshot-cli utility. The problem is that when i create a new Virtualbox VM with the new .iso generated by the antixsnapshot command, after selecting antix-snapshot from the GRUB, it gives me the following Error:

                    Error: /init: line 1: can’t create /proc/sys/kernel/hotblug: nonexistent directory
Error: mount: mounting /live/aufs on /live/aufs failed: No such device

                    Fatal Error
                    Could not mount afs

                    Here is the screenshot: https://prnt.sc/prt26z

                    I’ve tried both Kernel 4.9.193-antix.1-amd64-smp and 5.2.8-antix.1-amd64-smp

In this video from runwiththedolphin the error descripted above does not occur: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEW9r49ttbs

I don’t know if this matter, but in the installation process I have done:

I really wanted to use antiX core to build the system by myself, still keeping the fantastic utilities that antiX offers, any help would be appreciated, Marco.

                      Hello,

I tried to install antiX 19 32bit and 64bit to an external USB HDD, and the install failed at the point of preparing the partitions. I tried both GUI and CLI installers with the same result. I installed antiX 19 64bit to the internal SATA HDD without any problem.

I installed the following distros to the same external USB HDD without any problems:

                      – Debian 10 64bit
                      – MX Linux 19 64bit
                      – Ubuntu 18.04.3 64bit
                      – Peppermint-10-20190514 64bit

While doing the GUI install, the failure message that I got was:

                      “Failed to format required partitions”

After dismissing this message, the whole install window was disabled, and I had to dismiss it with the upper right corner “X” button.

Here is the complete CLI install session:

I try both in my system …
with antix 32 start from 85 M RAM
with antix 64 start from 500 M RAM
                              my system is 64
i prefer use antix 32 because is faster but is this better solution or must use antix 64 ?
                              give me your opinion

If a particular screen resolution is not found in available modes by xrandr,
there is a possibility to add a new modeline. It’s described in comment #51 in the bug-report you linked to or on this side

You have to know the technical data for the screen.
I don’t have any experience with it, so I can’t promise that it will work and really help you, but maybe it’s worth a try.

You probably have already realized that an older antiX version might have less problems.

                                  Great idea, thanks!
I installed the Geode drivers, and used an old xorg.conf I saved from an working xubuntu installation, reported below:

So I typed sudo modprobe msr and then startx again, and it worked!

Now inxi -Fxz -r gives the following output:

                                  There are two problems anyway:

                                  1) I always have to do sudo modprobe msr and then startx at startup: is there any way to fix it?
                                  2) If I change desktop, e.g. fluxbox, or jwm, everything freezes. Why?!? Also if I use Ctrl+Alt+F2 (or F3, or F8, or any other F*). I cannot understand the reason for this.

                                  Any ideas?

                                  Thank you again!
