On a fresh (yesterday) install of antiX-17.2, SpaceFM/Fluxbox
there has appeared this empty antixsources.desktop file on the desktop.

It doesn’t appear to cause any problem except to my mind.
Does someone have an idea how to stop it from occurring?

On a fresh (yesterday) install of antiX-17.2, SpaceFM/Fluxbox
there has appeared this empty anixsources.desktop file on the desktop.

It doesn’t appear to cause any problem except to my mind.
Does someone have an idea how to stop it from occurring?

Thanks for the video link; though for some weird reason, I suspect that grub has nothing to do with it –
I had actually done that particular update before my system had borked, and everything was fine; I was even using Sid! I had
come to suspect that Sid was to blame, so I had done a fresh install using Stretch, and to my surprise, the same thing was happening.

                One thing I at least had noticed in Sid was that I could use, say, Ctrl+Alt+F1 or +F2 to get to a login terminal, and actually still use my system from there;
I just could never get into X. Now, it’s even worse – it just shows a black screen, as if no image had loaded, and I can’t get into my ttys.

                Here are the requested outputs.

I have antiX-17.1 CLI installer running from CD.

I am using anti-x core and I want to install just a Command Line installation.

I have a formatted ext4 hard drive formatted for /, /home and swap.

When I run cli-installer I get this error.

cp: error writing ‘./filename’: No space left on device.

Is there a previous version that works?

I installed anti-X full and it installs OK, but I couldn’t remove all the graphical user interface programs.

                      I want CLI only.

                      Thanks,

                      David

My first thought is to ensure the download is good, check the md5sum.

Create the USB installer with/using dd. (There used to be a Windows version.)
Boot the live USB first, create a swap partition, (1GB), & a partition for the installation.
                        Then use the installer.

That machine likely has only got USB 1.1, so it’ll be a slow process.

                        Linux (& BSD) since 1999

I had a very frustrating day today. My new Antix17 deteriorated with every new boot: hangups in Spacefm, Firefox and other programs… Unetbootin and Live USB Maker no longer working. I had to make a unetbootin stick with my old Antix15 system, and that one gave an error message when booting from it (‘Not a com32R image’). Wasted lots of time, but in the end I had a clean Antix 17.2 (x64) install from the iso, without any customisation whatsoever of the live system before install. For the moment I don’t have any problems at all. Startup and shutdown times are as good or even better than with Antix15 32 bit (45 sec. and 1ess than 10 sec. respectively). This is what I’ve done so far:

                          Installation Antix 17.2
                          =======================

                          * Clean install from iso with unetbootin
                          * Root partition says Antix 17.1!

I can confirm that the conky background is changing more slowly then in Antix15. And maybe I know why. In Antix15 I had Conky 1.10.2. Now Synaptic says I have Conky-legacy-all 1:1.9.0-6. So it seems I have a different versionn of conky after all.

                              Hello there …,

at the moment Im trying to fix my USB-ports.

While booting he says to me: usb is over-current condition
I tried to edit /etc/default/grub and add ehci_hcd.ignore_oc=1 and similiar stuff.

                              It doesn’t work.

I plugged USB-devices with led and the leds been off.

Not really a new user, but first time on the new forum. I’ve been using 32bit Antix 15 for about three years now, and I’m fully satisfied. But recently Google Music Manager (not an Antix product of course) won’t let me connect with my Google account anymore. In fact, it seems Google Music Manager doesn’t like any 32 bit linux system anymore. So I decided that maybe it was time for an upgrade.

I’m currently reviewing 64 bit Antix 17, and I like it a lot. Some minor problems I had (mouse and rox panel configuration lost when rebooting) have been solved. It mostly just works out of the box now, without much need of tweaking the configuration files.

Still, I haven’t decided yet to make the switch. What do you think: would it be feasible to make a new start with 64 bit Antix 15 in 2018? Or would I be painting myself in a corner?

Sorry for delay and many thanks for the reply. Not been able to do much so far and will have to save work from new wifi and send to the one which is working so am working on it.

I am using ceni to make a wifi connection and the new device is a TP-Link model TD-W9970 300 Mbps Wireless N, USB VDSL/ADSL Modem Router. However the device is not used for VDSL as we do not have a VDSL connection. We receive our wifi signal from a dish across the valley. (We are too far from cabinet for fibre connection) Upstream of remote dish there is another dish link and then a connection to high capacity fibre. AFAIK the dish on our house is simply an aeriel with a cat 5 connection which is plugged into one of the RJ45 sockets and at present I cannot access the web interface.

I can give you the code for terminal output as connected to my working broadband connection but will send the same from new connection later. BTW I cannot get [code] brackets to work yet,

Will get more info as soon as possible but I am wondering if there is some proxy set up in windoze but not by default in linux. Just a thought as neither linus machine will connect to this new device but windoze does work,
