Trying to connect with connman but the 1024×600 screen on a Eeepc is too small. Can’t enter the data therein.

Here in this thread are some good ideas to work around the problem.

Thanks. I had attempted the dpi adjustment but it did not reset as expected on the live usb. After installing it was effective. But the connman gui setup failed.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ConnMan#Wi-Fi featured the connmanctl cli approach which connected wifi for me.

A helpful option in general to go along with the dpi settings on a small or large screen may be to adjust the Xorg scaling.
You can do so via terminal via a command similar to
            xrandr --output eDP1 --scale 1.25x1.25
where eDPI is the display name and 1.25 is the factor you would like to scale to.
I recommend first entering the command with 1.0×1.0 for the scaling (which will not change the screen) but then if the scaling goes to far you can simply press the up arrow twice and press enter again.

When you get the command that has the scaling of your liking you can add it to ~/.desktop-session/startup.

The cmst developer created a new version following the request of a smaller window. I will build it tomorrow if I have time and upload for testing. If no bugs are reported, I will ask for it to be included in the main antiX repos. Hopefully this will be a problem of the past in future releases.

I wrote about this in another post, I’ll copy it here for your convenience:

I also have an Asus EEE, and initially used ceni because of the screen issue, but also because it was lighter. The main pain with ceni is that it doesnt save the wifi passwords. Maybe there is a way to enable that, but I didnt explore that issue because with connman it just works out of the box. The way to deal with dialog boxes being offscreen is to hit alt+F11 to maximize the window, this redefines the window so all content is on-screen with a scroll bar. Or you can hold down alt and “grab” the window with the mouse and drag it up so you see the controls. Or you memorize the “alt+underlined character” of the most common dialog options. Ie alt+w to view wireless services, alt+k to hit OK in a dialog box, etc. Yet another option, if using the default icewm, is to add the line:

                cmst.startFullscreen: 1

                to ~/.icewm/winoptions

This has the effect of always starting connman in fullscreen mode.

Thank you blur13- very useful. When I opened this topic, I was using the usb live session. After installing the system it was much more responsive and several of your suggestions work very well. I don’t know why I could not get that window to move on the usb live system.
