Please, if you encounter errors during the dist-upgrade or full-upgrade like you did,
use the repo-manager from control-centre and choose another mirror.

I would try different kernels and/or look at what packages are installed. I’m no expert on this, but I don’t thing the OS is recognizing it correctly.

          https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/amdgpu-stoney-not-supported-error-solved-by-switching-kernels/

I see on Debian buster there is a list of packages needed. Maybe there is a list for bullseye, too.

              Please post the output of
              ls /etc/modprobe.d/
so we can see if something relevant is blacklisted.

The kernel you are using on your installed working bullseye is installable through synaptic. Please also install the appropriate headers
              linux-image-5.10.0-16-amd64
              linux-headers-5.10.0-16-amd64

Edit: It’s might helpful if you post the output of
              inxi -Gxxx
              from your working bullseye installation

                Hi jibi,

                (1) When you run xrandr on the DEBIAN install, what does it show?

                (2) It is possible that the debian install is configuring xorg differently than the antiX install. Compare the xorg video and xorg.conf files installed with Debian and with antiX.

                (3) This is a desktop with two monitors attached, oui? If so, when you attach one monitor at a time, what does xrandr report?

                (4) If you switch the two monitor connections, is the second monitor now the only one detected?

                (5) Are the two display connectors identical? What types are they (2 HDMI, 2 Displayport, 1 Displayport/1HDMI, 1 VGA/1HDMI, etc)?

                stevesr0

This is a question about a theory, not an answer:

If he was to install the same Debian kernel that does work correctly on antiX, would that potentially eliminate kernel issues as a root cause of the problems?

Thank you all for your patience,
                      thank you laughing thank you.gif

Not knowing what to do, since antiX is first and foremost a debian, I looked at the differences between the two and found that debian bullseye has no xorg.conf!

So I tried to remove the xorg.conf from antiX

and by “miracle” everything became ok!!!

why was this file generated…?! hat is the question

why was xorg.conf generated during installation when it is not needed?

                      Have a nice day everyone

This is a question about a theory, not an answer:

If he was to install the same Debian kernel that does work correctly on antiX, would that potentially eliminate kernel issues as a root cause of the problems?

While that may not solve ALL of the “issues”, it certainly would determine whether or not the kernel is responsible for the issues, since a Debian Bullseye installation with a Debian kernel works. IF putting the SAME kernel on the antiX distribution that the working Debian Bullseye system uses fixes the problem, then it’s possibly a kernel issue; if the problem persists, then the problem lies elsewhere; that seems pretty clear to me.

Regarding the presence of an xorg.conf file, that may have been a by-product of running a configuration request or accidentally keeping the file from a previous setup.

I’ve not seen the issue so chances are the file was accidentally created on your system; doesn’t seem to be there in a typical antiX image.

One thing one could think of is, did you boot the live system with any boot parameters like safe video ?
Anyway great you found the solution, we mark it solved.

                              Edit: please post an
