I have a 32-bit Antix 19.3 live USB I am using on an old laptop. I want to make a 64-bit live USB to use on a more recent system, currently running Windows 10.
Can I use the “Live USB Maker” utility of the 32-bit system, together with the 64-bit Antix ISO, to make a 64-bit live USB?
Or do I need to make the 64-bit live USB on a 64-bit system? Can anyone explain this for a beginner? Thanks đ

::Yes, you can create a 64-bit live USB with âLive USB Makerâ on a 32-bit system, and vice versa.
There’s no problem. the downloaded iso file determines the bit number.December 23, 2020 at 11:36 am #47979MemberGeoffC

::I tried this out and found that the 32-bit LUM will create a plain 64-bit live usb without problems.
However, it consistently fails if I try to create an encrypted 64-bit live usb. Following is a snippet from the output:…
live-usb-maker 2.41.18: encryption-initrd >> encryption-initrd
Checking to see if the live media will support encryption …
Unpack: /run/live-usb-maker/iso/antiX/initrd.gz –> /run/live-usb-maker/initrd/
Unpack gzip archive
Cleaning out all libraries and these program(s): ntfs-3g eject cryptsetup
add program: ntfs-3g
chroot: failed to run command â/usr/bin/lddâ: Exec format error
copy-initrd-programs fatal error: No libs found for ntfs-3gEventually I gave up and created a plain 64-bit version, then used the LUM on that to make an encrypted 64-bit version.

This is what I have been doing as well, keeping unencrypted Live USB sticks around as cloning encrypted to encrypted (64 to 64) stopped working after version 2.41.16 if I remember, just over a year ago. There was a discussion in this forum about it in the past.
However, as a last contingency, so as not to lose sophisticated Live instances I tested also that if unencrypted Live copy is lost it is possible to re-create one from the encrypted one, so it can be kept as master going forward.
My antiX instances are almost exclusively Live and Frugal, so it was of utmost importance for me to find ways to recover.Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):

::Oh, thanks for mentioning that – I didn’t realise there is a problem creating an encrypted live usb from another encrypted one. I might try to find that discussion you referred to.
Just to clarify, however, the 32-bit live usb I used was not encrypted – it was just a plain Antix 19.3 32-bit live usb. Using it’s “Live USB Maker” I was able to create a 64-bit plain live usb, but not a 64-bit encrypted live usb
