As long as they are antiX packages, changes can be made. If they are Debian packages, contribute the changes to Debian (we can do nothing).

My goal is to have all texts of the antiX operating system and all texts of programs created by the antiX community translated with continuous revisions. The revisions are necessary due to my ability to understand the texts translated by internet translators versus my ability to understand the operation of the respective program that the text refers to.

I have checked and can confirm that the particular forum message remains non-functional. My e-mail address contact is public, feel free to e-mail me via gmail. Just include the name “marcelocripe” at the beginning of the address.

That huge list we made (Zeh, Luck Dia and me) of the revision of the “.desktop” files, I believe is the best way.
If it is necessary to download each Transifex file, open one at a time in Poedit just to be able to create the “.mo” files in “en-BR”. I can help you do this, even if it is in the most rudimentary way, because I do not know how to convert “.po” to “.mo” automatically.
I need confirmation of what I have to do to help antiX become even more evolved in terms of “pt-BR” translations. And if you also inform me what is the deadline I have to deliver all “.mo” files in “pt-BR”, I can try to do the same voluntary work with the “pt” translations.

Without accurate information we cannot help in a timely manner. We need to have access to an organization chart containing the expected dates for the completion of each step. Otherwise, Zeh’s translations from three years ago will remain on Trasnifex and will not be on antiX, nor will my translations.

As long as they are antiX packages, changes can be made. If they are Debian packages, contribute the changes to Debian (we can do nothing).

Basta incluir o nome “marcelocripe” no início do endereço.

chose not to include gdebi to see what the reaction would be. I’ll put it back in if people insist on it being on the iso.

@anticapitalista- gdebi works in a pretty erratic way, but I think an OS should not be without am easy GUI way to install a package- it may be my tiny debinstaller script or some other low on resources option- since antiX is now more than even relying in apps developed “in house”- like zzzfm or slimsky, maybe debinstaller can be a useful adition too (it’s a tiny script that basicly relies on yad and little else – so no strange dependencies).
Since I’ve always relied on gdebi, and then “sudo apt install”, and recently on debinstaller to install my packages I’m not aware of any other GUI .deb package installers that I can recommend.

No experience here. But I was thinking of doing it the Debian way.

I would rather we did not do it this way. We have this in antiX-19 runit.
Instead for antiX-21 we have our own antiX-runit way.

            .Comment removed.

Nothing. I think it is better to use the current way and forget about complicating things more. I will explore modifying the deb helper scripts and experiment. The current system is stable and works well. Better not add any more bugs.

Sorry. I will go back to testing the beta2 (which works very well and when it releases I will probably migrate everything to runit).

@Xecure – I really appreciate your work, thoughts and ideas on antiX runit.
I just wanted to save you the trouble/time of working on a way that we won’t implement.

                For B2-runit:

When I log out (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), I get the typical login screen.
                I see

(Press F1 to toggle sessions) (in white)

                But I also see

                (Sessiontype: rox-icewm)
(Press F1 to change session type) (in light purple)

There are two F1 messages. But not exactly the same wording. Should we take out one of them.

Also, after I type my password to login, the login screen disappears, but the message

                (Sessiontype: rox-icewm)
(Press F1 to change session type) (in light purple)

persists for about 1-2 seconds, then disappears, then I am back to my rox-icewm desktop. I have not seen this behavior in previous antix21 test versions.

I think this is because it is using the old panel. If possible, rename the /usr/share/slimski/themes/antiX and create a new antiX theme with this content (or maybe only replace the panel file for this one). I will test a bit and merge the changes to antiX’s theme package.

Also, after I type my password to login, the login screen disappears, but the message

The panel disappears, as with slim, but the text remains (because slim didn’t have any text, you didn’t see this happen before). The image remains for a few seconds until the wallpaper is rendered. That is what you see.

Minor observations after just very basic test so far:
                    – The same what was noticed by calciumsodium and explained by Xecure directly above.
                    – Slimski appears to be an older (and much uglier one) test version in comparison to Slimski in antiX 19.4 Grup Yorum (current repository), which is aesthetically nice.
                    – IMHO (and others may not like this idea) the 19.4 version of Slimski (by the way, is the name ‘Slimski’ decided to indicate the creator – Slim + ski(doo)?), so the 19.4 version of Slimski besides being nice aesthetically it also had the right idea to ask for login (username) and then password. From the security perspective this is way superior than filling in the username automatically and just asking for password. This separation of username and password is the newer trend that appears to have been adopted by sites requiring login (e.g. gmail, etc.).
                    – Autologin appears to persists for me even after changing to ‘User must log in’ on User Management (either through Control Panel) or through antiX User Management directly. No login screen after reboot). This worked perfectly fine for me on 19.4 version of Slimski.
                    – On IceWM: If Theme style is changed to Adwaita (including Icon styles) subsequent change of wallpaper does not work for me. Click does not do anything. Changing back to Papyrus allows to change wallpaper (or no wallpaper).
                    – Memory footprint appears to be good, but more specific benchmark to follow to compare apples to apples…

(or maybe only replace the panel file for this one).

                      Changing the panel file

                      panel.png

for the one that you suggested, did NOT work. I still see the same behavior.

I will try replacing the folder

                      /usr/share/slimski/themes/antiX

                      next.

It is not older, but using the same slim theme that was being used in previous a21 alpha/beta.
Control Centre > Session > Login Manager -> test the themes that you prefer there (the theme “default” is probably the one you are talking about) and set it there.

so the 19.4 version of Slimski besides being nice aesthetically it also had the right idea to ask for login (username) and then password.

Change the behavior with the same Login Manager app.

                        – Autologin appears to persists…

Use the same Login Manager tool mentioned above.

with the updated antiX folder works.
I only see one F1 toggle option.

                          BUT,

for a few seconds until the rendering of the wallpaper.

It does not look pleasing. Is there a way to remove the text immediately after entering the password?

The panel-png replacement is only for the F1 text message.
The delay in the text would only be fixed editing the slimski code. I will have a look at what I can do.
I found it nice to see for a few seconds what session I had selected while booting, but maybe it is just me getting accustomed to testing slimski. If I cannot find a way to remove the text messages after login, I will ask skidoo to take a look.

In virtualbox, whether live USB or installed, if I increase the screen size while in herbstluftwm then I can’t get more than about 50% of the usable space for opening programs. It’s stuck in the smaller 800×600 space you see here (attached screenshot) for roxterm – the rest of it can’t be expanded into. I’ve tried installing the various virtualbox-guest utilities and dkms packages, and installing guest additions from within antiX on virtualbox. Doesn’t seem to have any effect on herbstluftwm.

Edit – note that the top of the virtualbox screen is titled “antix 19.4”, but that’s just the name of the virtual machine that I made awhile back. It is using this antix 21 runit version.
