::@anticapitalista: I tried earlier Alpha and Beta releases (both sysvinit and runit) and prior versions had no observable issues. I rebooted one working instance and noted that the savestate and repo-manager issues were fine.
For my admittedly limited test set, I did not observe any defects. In the Beta 2 runit release, it booted fine and allowed me to enable or disable the multimedia repo that was assigned, but I could not alter any repo information in the repo-manager. When I explicitly retested this in the other sysvinit B1 version I had installed, it worked fine.

I cannot speak for savestate (I have no idea how it works, if it works after the final unmount script is run on live-USB or what), but repo-manager has a reason.
The version in B2 is different from the one in B1.
For now, anyone that needs to rollback to the previous version, it is still in the repos (the current version in B2 is not in the repos).
sudo apt install repo-manager=0.2.4.4@ Xecure:
Just to update, Thanks to your service startup utility it appears I was able to make ufw start automatically at boot. Bluetooth service also starts up with the help of this tool. Testing bluetooth function still ahead but looks like all outstanding service issues have been resolved. That is great news. Hopefully I can get the script fixed up and packaged and ask anticapitalista to add to the repos.
On the LIVE USB savestate issue. Is it working for everyone else? If it is, I will make a new live-USB again just to start from a better system.
Confirmed it is broken in runit (and previous beta of runit), but not sysvinit beta1 version.
Thanks for confirming t. Good to know it is not only me. Is there a manual way to make the scripts for savestate to run manually? Can you point out the general location of those scripts or the package that contains them (if there is one)? I am a bit curious about how they work.

antiX-19.4-runit version works fine. I just checked. So it must be something to do with the sysvinit scripts no longer being called to allow for save state on our new runit set up in antiX-21.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Thanks. This was the start I needed. I followed the breadcrumbs and I found out what to do.
Not much needs to be done. Editing the /etc/runit/3 file, add at the end of the file:# Stop final sysv scripts /lib/runit/stop_sysv_scripts "/etc/rc$LAST.d" echo 'Shutdown...'Reboot (saving changes) and now savestate works as intended. The only drawback is that the shutdown takes 2-3 seconds longer.
This change requires the patched runit-antix and runit-core-services-antix packages I linked previously (and will be coming officially in the future).
I will test a bit more and send the changes to gitlab tomorrow. If anyone else can test and confirm that this is enough to get it to run, it will speed up testing.

sudo apt install repo-manager=0.2.4.4I was able to change repos as well as finding the fastest repo by downgrading to the repo-manager=0.2.4.4.

::Hello everyone,
Please, anticapitalista, I urge you to use the “.desktop” files that have the revised texts in pt language and in pt-BR language that I used as reference to ISO “antiX-21-b2-runit_x64-full.iso” , download at this address from URL. If possible, use them in future ISOs and antiX updates. All these fixes are for the good of all antiX users.
I noticed that some “.desktop” files only exist in the sysvinit ISO and don’t exist in the runit ISO. Therefore, I would like to review or include the texts in pt-BR language of the “.desktop” files that only exist in the sysvinit ISO.
The next files that I will review the texts in pt-BR language will be the menu (first level) and toobar. As soon as possible, I will make these files available. I will continue to use as reference the ISO “antiX-21-b2-runit_x64-full.iso”.
Thank you very much.

Assim que for possível, eu disponibilizarei estes arquivos. Continuarei usando como referência a ISO “antiX-21-b2-runit_x64-full.iso”.

::@ Xecure:
– After logoff from Herbstluftwm (Windows key + Shift + q) I get the expected login screen with sessiontype:icewm (default) showing on top . However after login from here I get logged in to Herbstluftwm, not IceWM as indicated on the login screen. If I F1 cycle on the login screen, making a round trip through selections back to IceWM and log in, then I get logged in to IceWM as indicated on the login screen.
Just to mention, I am using Default slimski theme, not tested this with multiple slimski themes…I was not clear in the above observation…
My point was that after logoff from Herbstluftwm the sessiontype indicated in top left corner (font way too big by the way) is IceWM. However if not touching F1 I log in to slim-ski I get back to Herbstluftwm, which is correct action. The only thing is that indicating sessiontype IceWM in top left does not square with the action taken. Sessiontype displayed should be Herbstluftwm to indicate the actual session type if the user logs in. Current behavior led me to to conjecture that sessiontype showing as IceWM was intended to force IceWM as default WM after each logoff, but it is clear such should not be the intended design.Just to stress again, this is just a ‘cosmetic’ issue with slim-ski behavior and ones being aware of this, the user will know what to do to arrive at desired action. E.g. Having logged off from Herbstlufwm with the intent to go to IceWM instead, although seeing sessiontype displayed as IceWM on top left one needs to press F1 to refresh IceWM, otherwise one would be logged in back to Herbstluftwm.
Such slimski behavior has nothing to do with antiX 21 B2 runit though, which after fixes to service startup (thank you for that) operates perfectly fine except state is not being saved. Such slimski behavior is the same for antiX 19.4…

After I enter my username, the sessiontype changes:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/HotOffbeatFrilledlizard-mobile.mp4
(I was trying to embed the gif but it doesn’t let me)This makes it possible for slimski to remember different sessiontypes for each user and only show which the user last used when the username is entered.

In slimski, I think you can change the font and its size in the file
/usr/share/slimski/themes/antiX/slimski.theme (if you are using the antiX theme. If it is a different theme, just go to the appropriate folder.)
In slim, I think you can change the font and its size in the file

Thanks calciumsodium. I will. Just to mention, actually I am not using antiX theme. I am using the Default theme. I already did some modifications, such as blanking out Msg1 – Msg5.

::By the way, after installing this latest image on an older system, this very solid, useful Thinkpad X201 with antiX-21-b2-runit_x64-full Grup Yorum 21 August 2021 is responsive, in fact, nearly as much so as the distributions I have installed on a MUCH NEWER Acer Aspire 5 A515-55, which has not been able to support this release so far.
No problem for me! I have both of these fine systems, new and old. I can try out the latest cutting edge systems on the Aspire and return to this solid Thinkpad to also enjoy antiX! Now that I’ve resolved a few of the previously “minor” issues, I’m happy with this, and I plan to use it until the official release, then I’ll probably reinstall the release to make certain that it’s the usual excellent quality. Anyway I’m happy with the results here.

The revised texts in pt-BR language of the menu (first level), toobar or tray, personal and themes-list, are in the zipped file

::I cannot reproduce. After I enter my username, the sessiontype changes:
@ Xecure:
I can see from your recording that sessiontype changes after you enter username and it appears you are using antiX theme. I am using Default theme, not antiX theme.
Now, when I have seen your recording, I just noticed what I have not noticed before: The Sessiontype changed from IceWM to Herbstluftwm on my Default theme too, after I entered username and hit enter, before entering password.
So the fact Sessiontype is being displayed as IceWM is not meaningful until username is entered and the Enter key is hit. After that the actual sessiontype is shown…
So if this is the design, I am OK with it. Just why display Sessiontype IceWM in the first place if this not to be used after login? This is not to question the design, but rather out of curiousity…
Thanks much and Regards…P.S.:
I am glad this mystery is cleared…
This is just cosmetic anyway. After your service startup fixes antiX 21 B2 works perfectly fine for me, except remembering state…- This reply was modified 1 year, 8 months ago by olsztyn.
