Hi andyprough, I get no content found on the odysee link
I miss that the reviewer seems not to have worked with the distro long enough to see the
advantages of a lightweight base system on powerful hardware. Or even found some of the features.
See modern kernel.Less OS load = less energy consumption and more available computing power for user applications.
The claim antiX only includes an old, series 4 kernel is incorrect.
Is it good to use in 2022. With all the options available a resounding yes

::Yes, people who only take a quick look at antiX tend to miss a lot.
The reviewer did mention the ‘lean’ nature of antiX; other than a quick look through the menu there was little evidence of a deep evaluation, merely an acknowledgement that many people told him about antiX and recommended it.
For better or for worse, I expect it will always be this way. Our Brazilian friends are perhaps our number one group of advocates; they know what lean software can do; in their case it’s the primary way to get their computer systems to work; I’m thankful for each of them and the tremendous energy and enthusiasm they have added to our community.

The antiX forum software seems to mess up the odysee link. Just search odysee.com for “a potato can run antiX” and you’ll see it.

Yes, he messed up the end of the video pretty badly with misinformation.

::A review these days on youtube is usually a quick install in a VM, poke about in the menu for a while, make some redundant pronouncements, and call it a day.

Yes, indeed. However with certain degree of tolerance and understanding I would need to credit the reviewer his noticing how light antiX is, such as pointing to memory shown in Conky, while still being fully featured and functional. This was the focus, while some other feature superior over other distros were not covered.
My subjective opinion is also that the default antiX theme and default configuration does not serve to antiX’ advantage in such superficial reviews. Even if you stick with IceWM as default, there are other, more aesthetic themes that would be more to antiX advantage. Also file manager default should be configured as zzz. Even if the reviewer pointed to other IceWM themes available, the default look and feel is what drives the initial impression.

Not going to happen.
Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.
antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

Understood. I got carried away with this fantasy thought, just to spice up…

::Regarding the default file manager, the default settings are just that, a specific defaults, a default file manager, default editor, etc.
You are welcome to use different file managers and different utilities, but the defaults will not be changing.
