      Hello all,

      I hope this info is a) posted to the correct forum board and b) might be helpful for anyone else who experienced wifi connectivity issues as I did with the realtek driver(s) in particular.
      Firstly, I will outline my progress with this great distro.
      1. I installed the AntiX beta on a different PC than which I am writing this. I had to do so because try as I may to get things running on that PC, I couldn’t.
      1.1 I was ultimately successful with a particular driver download from github and that system is running fine.
      2. Now to the PC I have installed the stable version on.
      2.1 With this PC I could only get a non-realtek usb driver to work and that dongle was speed limited so I really wanted to get the realtek driver working. So I did as follows and all’s well.
      https://github.com/cilynx/rtl88x2bu
      (after downloading, I used a railink dongle aok but you may need to download via a separate connection) go into the download directory and build away … cd rtl88x2bu
      sudo ./deploy.sh
      3. Now, I won’t take credit for the above directions but rather I found it on an old AntiX forum search so the full details of that should be easy enough to locate.
      4. The actual driver of course may vary with your particular dongle but that’s the relevant one that worked for me.

      Finally, I have been tweaking away madly on this PC with AntiX and even though things do take some research and fiddling to get what you want, the rewards are well worth the effort. For example, I like four workspaces and I had to research that a deal before I could achieve the four workspaces that would stick from boot to boot. I also have configured Synapse to auto start and once again, it would be nice if these things were (like for example in MX Linux) a little more gui and button select than they are with AntiX but I am not complaining as I think AntiX is terrific.

        @antique23:

        Welcome to the antiX Forum and thank you for the information, details, and proper citations of your efforts.

        It’s great when 1) we’re able to solve our own problems, whether it’s due to the work of others or our own diagnosis. In either case, it involves experimentation, care, time, and effort. 2) we share our findings.

        Nice to have you with us. We try to be helpful to others, so you are in good company here. Thanks again for your introduction and helpful comments.

          Hello antique23.

          I don’t know how to write in English and send my texts translated by the internet translator. I hope you can understand everything. If your native language is not English, please translate my original Portuguese language text
          in Brazil directly into your language with the help of internet translators that you will get a much better result.

          If you had started with this topic and not New to Antix and question on future upgrades it would have been easier for me to post my real welcome to you.

          Regardless of your level of knowledge about GNU/Linux, I recommend you read these excellent tutorials created by @PPC:

          What is antiX and how to try it out or install it.
          Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie.
          How-to install applications – 2020 version.
          How to: correctly use antiX forum.

          When I started using Antix, I read the tutorials that the PPC created, these readings spared me a lot of my time and I think it saves the time of any new Antix user. Your time will not be lost with these readings, it will seem to be much easier than you could imagine. You will not waste your time with internet searches or even create new topics, on the contrary, you will earn a lot of time from these readings. I recommend you try the work areas that have “ZZZ” in your name. I usually use the “ZZZ-Icewm” or “ZZZ-JWM” or “ZZZ-Fluxbox” (each of these work areas have their own characteristics and consume more or less resources). ZZZFM will be the default file manager in your desktop, it is very similar to other file managers from other GNU/Linux distributions and Windows XP. To access the other Antix work areas, click the Antix menu (or right -click), desktop, switch between desktops and click on the work area name, instantly to desktop will be loaded.

          In the Portuguese language area of this forum, there are several tutorials that may be useful for you . Use an automatic translator from the internet so you can understand the text.

          Whenever you need to request technical help or support in this forum, explain in detail what is happening, do not save the words, be thorough when writing, enter the characteristics of your computer, such as the brand and the model. If possible, post the result of the command $ Inxi -zv7 of the terminal, copy and paste here in the message of the topic you create in this forum.

          When you start a topic or participate with a post, remember to check the option “Notify Me of Follow-Up Replies via email”, marking this option, you will receive a message in your email box whenever there are answers from topic in question.

          About getting more workspaces, after you upgrade your antiX 22 or 23 beta 1, the program antiX-workspace-manager (original name in English) or Manager of Virtual Desktops of IceWM (in Brazilian Portuguese) will be added in Applications > antiX menu and will allow you to add or remove as many desktops as you want in antiX.

          Olá antique23.

          Eu não sei escrever em idioma Inglês e envio os meus textos traduzidos pelo tradutor da internet. Eu espero que você consiga compreender tudo. Caso o seu idioma nativo não seja o Inglês, por favor, traduza o meu texto original em idioma Português do Brasil diretamente para o seu idioma com a ajuda dos tradutores da internet que você obterá um resultado muito melhor.

          Se você tivesse começado com este tópico e não com o New to Antix and question on future upgrades teria sido mais fácil para eu postar a minha verdadeira boas-vindas para você.

          Independentemente do seu nível de conhecimento sobre o GNU/Linux, eu recomendo você ler estes excelentes tutoriais criados pelo @PPC:

          What is antiX and how to try it out or install it.
          Short essential how-to list for the complete Linux newbie.
          How-to install applications – 2020 version.
          How to: correctly use antiX forum.

          Quando eu comecei a utilizar o antiX, eu li os tutoriais que o PPC criou, estas leituras me pouparam muito do meu tempo e acho que poupa o tempo de qualquer novo usuário do antiX. O seu tempo não será perdido com estas leituras, tudo parecerá ser muito mais fácil do que você poderia imaginar. Você não perderá o seu tempo com pesquisas na internet ou até mesmo em criar novos tópicos, ao contrário, você ganhará muito tempo com estas leituras. Eu recomendo você experimentar as áreas de trabalho que possuem “zzz” em seu nome. Eu costumo utilizar o “zzz-IceWM” ou “zzz-JWM” ou “zzz-Fluxbox” (cada uma destas áreas de trabalho possuem características próprias e consomem mais ou menos recursos). O zzzFM será o gerenciador de arquivos padrão da sua área de trabalho, ele é muito semelhante aos outros gerenciadores de arquivos das outras distribuições GNU/Linux e do Windows XP. Para acessar as outras áreas de trabalho do antiX, clique no menu do antiX (ou clique com o botão direito na área de trabalho), Área de Trabalho, Alternar Entre as Áreas de Trabalho e clique sobre o nome da área de trabalho, instantaneamente a área de trabalho será carregada.

          Na área em idioma Português deste fórum, possui diversos tutoriais que podem ser úteis para você. Utilize um tradutor automático da internet para você poder conseguir entender o texto.

          Sempre que você precisar solicitar ajuda ou suporte técnico neste fórum, explique com detalhes o que está acontecendo, não economize as palavras, seja minucioso ao escrever, informe as características do seu computador, como a marca e o modelo. Se for possível, poste o resultado do comando $ inxi -zv7 do terminal, copie e cole aqui na mensagem do tópico que você for criar neste fórum.

          Quando você iniciar algum tópico ou participar com alguma postagem, lembre-se de marcar a opção “Notify me of follow-up replies via email”, marcando esta opção, você receberá uma mensagem na sua caixa de e-mail sempre que houver respostas do tópico em questão.

          Sobre obter mais espaços de trabalho, após você atualizar o seu antiX 22 ou 23 beta 1, o programa antiX-workspace-manager (nome original em Inglês) ou Gerenciador das Áreas de Trabalho Virtuais do IceWM (em Português do Brasil) será adicionado no menu Aplicativos > antiX e permitirá que você adicione ou remova quantas áreas de trabalho quiser ter no antiX.

            And thank you Brian. Yes, it is a pleasure to be part of the forum as it is being part of the MX Linux forum. I have been a long time user – hate that word 🙂 or should I say fan of MX Linux and XFCE however, with just a few tweaks, I’m finding IceWM to be very nice to use as is the AntiX platform itself.
            Best wishes.

              And thank you Marcelocripe. I’ve read through some of your links which I agree must be very beneficial to any newbie (and even veterans) to the distro.

                Older forum posts on subject but put fresh post in tips and tricks.

                Autostarting is described in old Posts from BobC Moddit.

                In antix23B you have an ICEWM remember settings button which is very useful as it automates opening on a set workspace with size and position you want.
                Exceptions Programmes which remember themselves and refuse to cooperate.

                  Just in case it isn’t 100% clear how to set and identify multiple workspaces, using IceWM, by default, 2 workspaces are provided.
                  To modify this, use the directory ~/.icewm and locate the file preferences.

                  If, for any reason it does not already exist, you can find all instances of IceWM defaults in the following documentation online:
                  https://ice-wm.org/manual/icewm-8.html

                  I have four workspaces, and I choose to name them instead of number them. Here is my variable setting:

                  WorkspaceNames=” Web “, ” Mail “, ” Term “, ” Edit ”

                  You can replace this with

                  WorkspaceNames=” 1 “, ” 2 “, ” 3 “, ” 4 ”

                  or

                  WorkspaceNames=” Browsers “, ” 2 “, ” Editors “, ” File Managers “, ” 5″, ” ” 6 ”

                  just to show you some flexibility.

                  I’ve been using geany to edit the preferences and toolbar in particular; you can use whatever you are most comfortable with, but my aim above is to show that there is a LOT of flexibility available.

                  JWM, Fluxbox, and other window managers have their own syntax, but they also offer similar features and capabilities.
