Neither of these two problems existed with earlier Berta Cáceres version of AntiX:

      1. Spell check in Swedish does not work in Abiword (it spell checks in English, when supposed to check in Swedish).
(In Libre Office, Spell check in Swedish works well.)

      2. If trying to save documents in Abiword, when at the same time having Qupzilla open, Abiword will hang badly. (One have to shut down the computer with the ’emergency button’.)

This topic belongs in “Software” software subforum, not “antiX-17 “Heather Heyer”.
Abiword is not pre-installed in antiX, is not packaged by antiX… it’s just one of 50,000 or so programs you might choose to install.

In order to troubleshoot, may need to find another Swedish locale antiX user who has also chosen to install Qupzilla and Abiword.

(One have to shut down the computer with the ’emergency button’.)

        Why “have to” ?
Your system is entirely hung? You cannot right-click desktop and use “App Killer” available in the desktop menu?
You cannot even Ctrl+Alt+F6 switch to another console, in order to “sudo pkill abiword” or “sudo killall abiword”?

Maybe just a little bit too arrogant to my taste, that answer.

If I write that the system is so badly hung, that it has to be shut down with the “emergency button” then, yes, it is entirely hung.
From this follows that, NO, you cannot use “App Killer” when nothing works. (Nor can you play a game of Mahjong.)

So if a program is not on the Installation CD – e.g. AntiX-17 base, then it is NOT a problem that belongs in this forum !!!???
In that case, why not shut down the Forum entirely, so that you guys can go and have a beer instead?

I am just happy that Libre Office spelling check do work, as the computer is used for WORK, and one CLIENT insist on all texts being spell checked…

            Is the Swedish dictionary installed?
            sudo apt install aspell-sv
If so, you just might have to enable Swedish in AbiWord: Tools -> Set Language …

              Dear maroc,
Thank you very much for your answer!

Aspell dictionary, according to Synaptic, nowadays refer to the Hunspell dictionary, which is installed.

Swedish has been enabled in AbiWord, just in the way you suggested.

Spelling check in AbiWord did work in AntiX-16 “Berta Cáceres”, but not now, in AntiX-17.

                I got it to work

I installed aspell-sv, set Default Language to Swedish, opened a page, copied a Swedish word into it (övermodig), and the default spell check (right-click) was still English. So I set language again to Swedish and now spell check works.

So Swedish spellcheck does work in antiX-17, but Abiword must have made some changes to make the procedure more convoluted.

Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
