      Hello
i recently installed Antix 22 on Acer Aspire ES-15. I used a live USB and did full install on HDD. Prior to this installation the secure boot was disabled. everything worked great! i wanted to create a MX linux live use so i used the live usb maker in antix and that was done successfully as well. i rebooted the laptop and pressed F12 and it will not give me boot options….the laptop only boots into BIOS. i shut down laptop, removed usb and then booted laptop (boot into antix installed on HDD) only to find the laptop booted into bios…without me pressing any commands. i shutdown and started again only to find the same issue….booted straight into BIOS.

i am asking if there is anythign that i can do or what i can do to get the computer to force boot onto a live USB again so that i can re-install/fix the antix installation as something has gone wrong and i don’t know what.

      kindest regards
      Mark

When your computer boots to the bios, check to see if the boot order has been set inappropriately.
Perhaps, if possible, set it to usb first, then hdd…
If your computer’s cmos battery has died, it may be wanting you to reset things in the bios (I have one computer that makes me do that if unplugged). Otherwise, I’m at a loss as to why it is doing that.

to offer an example from a much older acer 15 bios here
that does start usb. the bios settings are
          Main, F12 boot menu: Disabled
          Security, Secure Boot Mode: Standard
          Boot,
          Boot Mode: Legacy
          Secure Boot: Enabled
          Boot priority order:
          1. USB 2. Windows boot manager 3. HDD 4. cdrom

With this, a plugged live usb starts without pressing of any keys at power-up.
Can You compare similar settings to your bios? anything same?

OT maybe. If a BIOS battery is dead it is better to replace it in a timely manner.

The dead batterys can often do leak corrosive electrolyte and destroy a motherboard.

            Back to users question.

Easy to find a device User Manual for the Acer. Maintenance manual same. Just search
            I used MetaGer.

Much better than asking others to quote relevant contents :-).
