::Hi scatman98,
You would add them to desktop startup files.
Open the control centre then click edit icewm settings, jwm settings, or fluxbox settings.
then under startup tab you enter the path to them one per line and save.March 30, 2018 at 6:45 am #8473Forum Admin

::Don”t forget to include a & after each entry . Eg: virtualbox &

::When choosing autostart items, we can (usually) trust that a program’s executable resides in one of the named $PATH directories.
IOW, successfully accomplishing the task at hand doesn’t demand knowledge of “What gets installed where”.
For general reference, you can skim/read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_Hierarchy_Standard and websearch “linux FHS”Because I don’t know, offhand, whether a line stating “kupfer-activate.sh &” vs “kupfer &” (noquotes) would be the suitable commandstring,
I would browse to /usr/share/applications/ directory using a file manager, locate the .desktop for kupfer, and open it in a text editor.
Whatever commandstring is shown on the “Exec=” line within the .desktop file, that’s likely the exact commandstring desired in the autostarts file.
If it’s a complex-looking commandstring, ala “someprogram -d -p /blablah”, I would check its docs or manpage to understand its commandline options.Within the startup file, the space + ampersand character tail-end of the commandstring instructs
“exec this item as a background’ed job ~~ immediately continue (without waiting for output from the launched item)”.under startup tab you enter the path to them one per line and save.
“startup tab”?

the EZ Button displayed in ControlCenter, it launches an instance of geany (tabbed text editor) pre-populated with various files
one of which is, literally, named “startup”. The geany tabbed UI displays the filename.March 30, 2018 at 11:03 pm #8506Memberscatman98
::the startup file is as below but not working.
#!/bin/bash kupfer-exec %F & /usr/sbin/ntfs-config-root & VirtualBox & redshifttried again and the following code did work
#!/bin/bash kupfer %F & VirtualBox & redshift & /usr/bin/chromium %U & geany %F &thanks for the instructions! these should be added to the comments in startup tab with an example! and also would be nice to see a description of settings in the control centre near the relevant EZ button.
