      Hello Friends

      As the title says. Even if I did the following:

      1. Edit line 53 of the seamonkey desktop file in /usr/share/applications to read:

      Exec=apulse /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey %u

      then click Refresh Menu.

      2. Add this line to /home/user/.desktop-session/startup

      pulseaudio -D &

      then rebooted.

      3. Made seamonkey the preferred web browser.

      The only way I get sound is typing seamonkey in the terminal.

      Thank you!

        Hi, kaye.

        When using pulseaudio, you must not use apulse.
        apulse is used to “make the program think” it is “talking” to pulseaudio, when it really is talking to ALSA. If you already have pulseaudio installed and running, there is no need for apulse, as the program can talk directly to pulseaudio.

        Also, if running seamonkey (or any program) from terminal on it’s own (seamonkey and NOT apulse seamonkey), and it works properly, then there is no need to use “apulse” in the .desktop file.

        So, if you have pulseaudio installed, don’t use apulse. If you don’t have it installed and the program works well with sound without the apulse command, then don’t add it in the .desktop file.

        Hope this clarifies any doubt.
