      Hi, I was using the Falkon browser… till the last update. But now all is gone:
      Many open Tabs, many Bookmarks, the History, Cookies …
      That happened after the last system update… all is gone . . . . . Falkon is like newly installed.

      Any chance to get back recent open Tabs and Bookmarks ?

        Go to /var/log/apt/history.log and copy the activity of the last few days (today+yesterday) and paste it here using CODE tags (above the textbox).

        I checked and Falkon version from Debian is from last year and the one from MX is also from last year. If you were using the version from backports, it was last updated in June of this year.
        So, I cannot find any possible update in antiX that may have done that.
        Did you check the folder .config/falkon ?
        spacefm ~/.config/falkon
        and see if the files are still there?

        Did you use any “cleaners” like bitbleach or similar?

          You can use the following to check whether any files within your home directory are not “owned by” you
          cd ~ && find . \! -user $USER
          and (after pondering how their ownership got hijacked) you can reclaim ownership via
          cd ~ && chown -R $USER:$USER *

          Here’s a scenario which may explain the “how”:

          While running a program with elevated permissions, the user clicks a toolbar “Help” button and the program retrieves+displays online html helpdocs (or the program otherwise attempts to xdg-open an html document). Even if the web browser recognizes/blocks “no, cannot run as root” and refuses to render the requested document… during the operation, the ownership of any “touched by root” config files may be altered.

            Thanks for all your thinking; I am sorry, it was a false alarm.
            I have changed for test purpose the Profile in Falkon (i assumed the default profile will be adopted) and obviously forgot to switch back to default. All is still there 🙂

            And no ownership were hijacked 🙂
