::I think I might have found the cause of the eudev change.
Can you try the 64 bit debs from here: https://download.tuxfamily.org/antix/Testing/
If they solve the problem I’ll upload to the repos,

You can try to do this in you live system before installing the updates:
sudo apt-mark hold eudev
and then, a normal sudo apt upgrade. Eudev should not upgrade on your live system.Thank you Xecure!
Hi Xecure! Just to update on results:
Your conjecture that eudev was the cause of the issue was right on the nail. After holding back update of eudev and related modules, update resulted in properly booting antiX. The new, faulty eudev related components appear the same version 3.2.9.1, but appended with ‘0antix1’ at the end. So it appears that some antix related update to eudev components introduced this malfunctioning…
Thanks very much for the fix. Greatly appreciated…

Sorry to report. I get the same behavior as the other eudev version in antix buster repo.
I will upload a video so you see what I get.Edit2: Removed video (no longer needed)

::Ok – new debs in same place. They have the same name as the previous ones, so you’ll need to revert back to a previous eudev.sOnce asked to update maintainers /etc/init.d/udev choose Y (default is no).
Seems to be working ok here.

::Could we get something similar for the boot text menus? No longer cascading options, but “clearing” the terminal before each choice?
What is the context? EFI boot, or legacy BIOS?

::I have seen this on several of my machines over the years. I had always assumed it was because the video driver had not been sorted out yet. It always clears up and continues to boot to the GUI with no apparent problems. I never considered it a bug or a concern. Maybe because it is simply a cosmetic issue?

::@seaken64:
I do not know what code or the lack of thereof is causing this behavior but I do not think it is just a cosmetic issue:
– It happened in the past for me as well after some updates. Later some correction appeared to fix it.
– This is not just that at some point in boot process the screen is reduced to top left corner after ‘Start Init’ but also certain steps in boot progress seem to be skipped in displaying this progress, such as ‘Udev Done’, skipping to desktop instead. It seems for me, not sure if others experience the same behavior.
– It seems not related to video driver, as I tested on several laptops with completely different video cards.
In any case I do want to thank Xecure and anti for the workaround and possibly for fix, whatever it is…Live antiX Boot Options (Previously posted by Xecure):
