Alt+Tab flickers w/ MAME on fullscreen

Hello people! How’s your day?

Alt+Tab doesn’t seem to work with Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator when it’s on full-screen mode.

At+Tab menu seems to appear but flickering occurs.

Do you have any idea what causes this behavior? How does your PC behave in those conditions?

I have the rox-iceWM at the moment

Is Alt+Tab supposed do something specific inside MAME? Could it be a keybinding conflict? Or are you referring to “Window change” menu to switch between windows launched in icewm?
If you launch MAME in a separate workspace, can you use the Control+Alt+arrow to switch between workspaces or does that also not work?

Control+Alt+arrow does switch between workspaces witch is somewhat disturbing during gameplay. I didn’t check if its the same case with Alt+Tab though…

What I was expecting is, to switch between MAME and a file manager or a browser while downloading correct the rom

From the icewm manual, you can change the preferences file (Control Centre > Desktop > Edit Icewm Settings).

KeySysSwitchNext="Alt+Tab"

KeySysSwitchLast="Alt+Shift+Tab"

You can change the hotkey to something else just to see if the reason you experience issues is because of a keybinding conflict or if it is an icewm issue.
You can also change there the “Change workspace” hotkey if you prefer to change it (or comment it out if you don’t need it).

I see that in MAME Left_Alt is a “fire 2” button, and Tab is “Access Mame’s in-game menu”, so maybe they are interfering with icewm, but it looks more like it is related to icewm. Test the same in fluxbox or jwm, just to make sure that the same happens on any WM.
