      Hi, I’ve been meaning to getting around to asking this. Based on my system info below, am I using the right kernel for my system? Also, I am using the zzzIcewm. What is the lightest, less resource intensive WM to use? Even when I update my system, it uses 100% of the CPU. Which I don’t know if that is normal due to my old hardware or perhaps making some changes might make it use less. In addition, I can’t seem to find a browser light enough to run on my system without it using 100% of the CPU and maxing out the RAM. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated thanks!

        This is fresh install from yesterday and is already been dist-upgraded which was why I said no. Ususally I will say yes after apt-update if dist-upgrade was done a while ago.
        This is nice cli apt thingy we come with. Enjoy using it.

          I am also of the opinion. If the kernel does not run your unit hot

          harry@shop1:~
          $ sensors
          acpitz-acpi-0
          Adapter: ACPI interface
          temp1:        +40.0°C  (crit = +124.0°C)

          Core0 Temp:   +42.0°C
          Core1 Temp:   +42.0°C

          and all hardware works. Why change it? I can see adding a backup though in case the original kernel don’t boot anymore.

            The 4.9 kernel uses less RAM than the 5.10.
            The lightest ‘desktop’ is not to use a ‘desktop’ like Rox or zzzFM, but only use a window manager (ie no icons).
            The lightest one on antiX is jwm.
            There are no light ‘modern’ browsers.

            Philosophers have interpreted the world in many ways; the point is to change it.

            antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

              Ok thanks for both your inputs! That’s all I needed to know. I will try the 4.9 kernel and switch to jwm to see if that makes any difference. Too bad about the browsers. I kind of figured that much though.
