Hi everyone,
I have noticed something that could be a bug.Everytime I connect my android phone to my laptop and I use “android device USB connect” to transfer files, I have noticed:
– if I try to write in the root/parent folder /home/…/android_device/Internal\ shared\ storage/* I always get a generic error, whether I want to copy or move or rename or delete, eg
cp: cannot create regular file '/home/username/android_device/Internal shared storage/1.mp4': Input/output error– if I try do to the same above but inside a “child” director, eg
/home/.../android_device/Internal\ shared\ storage/Downloadall the operations (create new file/directory, copy & paste, delete) are successful without any error
My questions are, is there a bug? is there an issue with the default permissions?
Please let me know how we can help each other here, if there is an issue/bug.
Thank you very much.
A.

::Hi AT*
According to how I read your post you are trying to transfer files from your computer to the phone.Most of the internal storage on android phone is protected, rights can usualy only be changed on a rooted
device. Writing to certain directorys is possible. On many newer devices only a download folder.On some phones developer options must be used to allow a data transfer. Some even need adb, the android
debug bridge.There is no way the antiX script could influence write permissions on a non rooted phone, which is good,
it is a user protection feature.You may be able to change some permissions for user1 on some devices using adb commands. If you end up in a
bootloop or have a non booting device you can easily (not always) do a factory reset.
User 1 might be loosly describes as user home area if compared to linux. Some devices may allow multi user,
I can setup two, neither have access to the root file system/system permissions.On a rooted phone changing permissions can very quickly lead to a need for reflashing the device ROM or even
doorstopper, bricked damaged device. To do so ADB shell commands or on device editing with a tool like total
commander.For more information on the workings of/working with specific android devices XDA Developers is your best friend.
