How to stop annoying popup message notifications on the forum and other sites. Particularly using Palemoon
Despite browser setting, Forum Notifications popups block input, ie writing until clicked away.
Setting no notifications for session does not always stick.

      Open about:config search dom.popup_allowed_events;
Remove notification from list. pls note this may break important for you function on other sites.
I just deleted whole line because notification popups drive me nuts…

Edit: please also note followup post #72535 from seriousness who notes that a site specific blocking is also available
for those who prefer that method.

While in config you might like to set
Browser session store intervall to 180000
reduces caching and potentialy saves a lot of writes.

Inspired by next post. Here to keep compact.
These settings are same as LTS, until someone at moz has fun changing them.
Watch for chrome/chromium/ungoogled chromium cache size, had gigabytes of data in home a short time ago, culprit Browser. As far as I know is no setting to easily controll the behaviour. Now I fire up rox and delete caches every couple of days on installed system. On a live stick clear the browser cache before remaster, experienced weird behaviour before getting in to that habit. When chrome goes nuts, deleting profile and cache will usually fix it. Applies also to Vivaldi as I found last week.

Thank you Moddit. This will certainly be helpful for Palemoon.

I’m guessing that similar parameters may also be in other browser config settings, though probably using different names.

Good tip; something to investigate for anyone who is receiving more pop up or unwanted information. There are often ways to change this if you are willing to investigate.

When I set “show notifications” from “always ask” to “allow” or “block” in Pale Moon permissions for https://www.antixforum.com, the popup doesn’t appear anymore (names may not exactly match, since I use german localization).

Hi seriousness, thanks for useful comment,
I did know about site specific settings, should have mentioned that too.
Popups drive me and the users I try and help nuts, not just on forum. The unexpected rapid movements are extremely distracting
and for anyone with a tendency to epileptic effects even dangerous.

The about config method allows global granulated setting. All about preference or specific needs, good we have a choice.

Better I reset the post title for better clarity and searcheability, I am trying to improve.

              Hello,

As an every-day-palemoon-user I can share my settings to avoid pop-up. I use ublock origin, which seems to be the most recommendable add blocker, but is actually a “requests filter” which gives some other powerful functions as well.

For the pop-ups about “cookies consent”, I add the list https://www.i-dont-care-about-cookies.eu/abp/ as a custom filters list. (I used to use the i-dont-care-about-cookies addon, but I do prefer this solution integrated with ublock, as fewer addons is better for me). Seems to work well

There are other filters lists to be found, and probably some of them blocks some annoying pop-ups.

And I use ublock in “advanced mode”, blocking all 3th party script and frames by default, which is probably as good for avoiding pop-up and for privacy (and security) reasons.
