Just installed antiX 17.1 x64 and Xfce, opting for SLiM Display Mngr. This works well because IceWM and Fluxbox are easily accessable and all seem to not conflict with each other. No need to run on separate partitions or devices anymore.
Thunar does not show thumbnail images even though set to, and cannot eject or unmount USB media.
Gvfs-backends and thunar-volman are installed.
Does it need an additional plug-in or adjustment to have these features?
Thank you.

::/ etc / slim.conf
edit the line that mentions sessions, add the Xfce start command ( from memory, I think it is start-xfce4 )Afterward, restart your system. At the slim login screen, press F1 to cycle available sessions and choose xfce.
If your system is set to autologin, you might need to manually logout to reach the slim login screen.That should get you rolling. I don’t know whether further tweaking will be required to get the “gvfs” or Thunar behavior sorted.

::I think that the thumbnail option needs the tumblerd set of packages.
As to the automount / eject issue… I seem to recall that thunar has issues if the drive was not initially handled by thunar. Perhaps you have the default automount setup enabled in the control centre?

Thanks for the suggestion – prefer to not need to log into the desktops, just use the “other desktops” selection.

tumblerd was not in the stretch repository, however tumbler was, and that fixed the thumbnail view.
As far as the automounting options:
* “Automounting” was checked.
———————-
* “Open Default File Manager on Mount” not checked (don’t want them automatically opening because I change USB flash drives frequently and external drives with lots of partitions – want them to automatically mount, but not open). When it is checked, Rox Filer auto-opens and Thunar eject/unmount option works.Maybe Thunar and Rox-filer are in conflict and if Thunar is made default, it may take over the desktop in IceWM, which is what one of the problems was with LightDM (functions such as wallpaper [black desktop], and other Rox-filer options did not work and had to log in and out when switching desktops).
———————-
* “Do Not Change SpaceFM automount settings” – either way does not change Thunar. Thunar does mount devices and files can be used, just cannot eject/unmountSpaceFM works well – Thunar and SpaceFM together will be used if all else fails.
If the option to use only Thunar without compromising the other settings is possible, that is what is preferable.
The most important of the two was enabling the images on thumbnails and you solved that one. No matter how far Thunar can be tweaked, overall, this is great.
Thank you very much!
