I’m using antix 17 base i386. Booting live CD, and editing for “ask”
as vga option (because I have weird 1440×900 monitor) results in vga=ask
token in grub.cfg when the OS is installed, and this is “no longer
supported” and so the install fails to boot.
I fixed by hitting ‘e’ to edit and grub boot script, deleting the
characters vga=ask and then F10 to continue booting. I fixed permanently
by changing /etc/default/grub and then running sudo update-grub:
diff grub.bak grub
9c9
< GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”vga=ask quiet”
—
> GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”vga=788 quiet”
Suggestion: anything offered in booting the live CD successfully ought
to result in a bootable OS when installed to hard disk. I’m thinking
about those humble users coming from the monopoly microcomputer OS —
we want them to have a great first experience.
Thanks.
