          But it shoots upto one gb upon opening firefox 🙁

            In the past, KDE has been a fairly high consumer of RAM – and depending on what you are doing, it can still consume considerable RAM, but recent editions of KDE-Plasma have made SIGNIFICANT improvement in this area. I suspect that memory management algorithms have been improved since the “change” to “Plasma” naming and coding practices, which have in some cases included refactoring and even rewriting routines that were found to consume large quantities of memory. I’d suggest, based on admittedly limited samples, that KDE uses somewhat more peak resources than Xfce, but LESS than GNOME in most forms (Mate, Cinnamon, classic).
