::A follow up to my previous post…
Stuff I would change in antix 19.4 (and probably 21 too):– The default icewm toolbar would not have the root file manager (dangerous in newbies hands, and I think that more advanced users don’t really need it there)
– I would add antiX updater/the GUI updater icon and “Toolbar Icon Manager for Icewm” icon (so users can, at a glance, know how to add/remove icons to the toolbar)- this last part is not treating users like babies, but to allow a faster and more intuitive management of the toolbar (Adding icons there should not have to imply searching the menu, the forum or the wiki…- first gain the users trust, making essential features easy to use, them dump all the power and customization goodness of antiX on them)
– Once again: what’s the refresh menu entry doing on the first layer of the menu? Move it to the “applications” submenu, since it refreshes only that particular menu”- also, both this menu entry and the GUI update app having the same icon can be confusing…
-Why the separator on the start of the menu between file manager and web browser» Why is it separating Main application shortcuts?
– fix the recently reported bug in antiX updater- that does not allow it to correctly display a message when the updated is successfully performed (my bad, sorry)- and add it’s icon to the title of the window, I can do that also- that way it ends up looking more professional.
– Use zzzfm as a replacement for spacefm as a secondary file manager choice- it has some bugs flushed out and is better localized, it’s lighter on system resources…
– Use an alternative GUI program to gdebi, as installer for .deb packages (I developed a GUI script, similar to yad-updater, that allows to install or purge .deb packages- it’s a light alternative, maybe there are others out there).P.

::Hi i just got the antix 19.4-runit=x64 iso to usb and got this message failed to load ldlinux.c32 boot failed any help tks.
You didn’t explain what software you used to make the live USB. You also don’t mention the edition (base, full, core, net?)
I just tested it on a VM and antix 19.4 runit full x64 boots properly, so your experience may be related to bad download or error with the USB maker.

If the Applications sub menu is broken, it would be impossible for new users to refresh (fix) it since they would no longer have access to it.

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.

::Now that suggestions are coming out, could the future dot releases be renamed to revisions? People have traumas with Ubuntu release numbering, and every time a new dot edition is released, we get the typical question answered 100 times in the forum “How to dist-upgrate to new version?”
We can keep the dot numeration (antiX 21, 21.1, 21.2, etc.), but make it clear in the release notes that this is a revision instead of a new edition.Announcement: “antiX 21 revision 2 released”, but the iso is still named antiX-21.2_().iso and the data inside the inxi/env-info is still 21.2.
Does anyone think this will help reduce the “how to update” question?

Probably not since there will always be too many people who do not read the announcements.
Here are the first two lines:
All new isos are bug-fix/upgrades/improvements of antiX-19 sysvinit/runit series.
No need to download if using antiX-19(.x).

::Yup, no matter what we say or do, this will always be the case; we’ve seen this throughout the history of antiX and I have seen it before that in anything else I have used at any time.

::Report:
I just tried running unplugdrive.sh… It has pt and pt_br localization files, but shows messages in english only…On the “refresh” menu entry – yes anticapitalista- it’s a very valid reason, for icewm… In the fluxbox menu, you can move the refresh entry to the “applications” sub-menu, due to the different way the menu is processed (but I’m aware that would break the menu homegenity across all 3 Window Managers).

::Just to celebrate, I took an existing antiX 19.4 USB device, updated it to today’s package updates, then remastered the USB, so it’s now a Personal antiX 19.4 and it is working perfectly. Well worth celebrating! 🙂

::Hi
Yesterday I tested AntiX19.4 full and base.
All went well and after a short test of different programs, I have nothing to complain/report
Thanks
Now, to runit-full and runit-base.
Note first : every thing same hadware’s
-Burned to usb — no problem
-Booted up ; during boot I noticed a line in brown, saying:warning-port mapper is not running.
-carry on….conman pops up..fill in data…Ok..test connection…OK
–reboot….no wifi connection….message : unable to find a connection to system bus.
CMST will not be able to communicate with conman….press OK button…conman pops up…all blank and non functional
–also , on screen , no wlan0-up or wlan0-down visible.
-Tried with Ceni….seemed to work, as it produced wlan0-up/down, but no internet connection with browserI have done a compleet re-install of runit-full. Same results.
Again, this is the same hardware as where standard 19.4TEST and latest 19.4-full work 100%
Hope info is usefull.

Did you switch to ceni using the same method greyowl outlined? (antix wifi switch -> ceni)?
Just in case, did you do as recommended in the announcement post?https://antixlinux.com/blog/

::I only ask about: No need to download if using antiX-19 (.x).
I don’t have to do anything and just wait for antiX to update itself? It comes from the normal update function? When will it be ready? And what do I do if I want to stay on 19.3 for the moment? Or is 19.3 no longer supported?
