AntiX 19.4 – “Enable DNS over HTTPS” in Firefox without effect

Hi,

I have swapped from good old Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to Antix 19.4 .
I have basic knowledge of Linux, but I am no nerd.
I understand simple english.

My question:
In Firefox (in Ubuntu) I can use “Enable DNS over HTTPS”.
Also, I can use in Ubuntu (and Puppy Linux) nameserver 8.8.8.8 .

I need this to avoid country-specific blocking of webpages.

Doing this has NO effect in AntiX.

Why?
What can I do to solve that problem?

I don’t understand your earlier discussions with lots of cryptic data.

If you need details, I will tell you.
I have old Notebook (Dell Latitude D410), 32-bit single-core,
with installation of your full ISO image.

Can you help me, please?

Hi,

I have not used DNS over HTTPS (DOH) yet.

Are you sure that DOH has the ability to remove country (IP-address/ISP provider identification) blocking?
Where did you find it?

Firefox ESR 78.14 allows to enable it in Preferences -> General -> Network Settings with a choice of DOH provider.

Doing this has NO effect in AntiX.

DOH is not working at all or the blocking was not removed?

Which discussion do you refer to?

Did you try to use tor-browser?
You can download an archive, decompress it and use the binary as is, no installation necessary.
It allows you to switch circuits (which affects end-points, IP address that is most likely used).
Downside: it is very often really slow.

Ich denk dises ist nicht was sie hören wollen.
Der genannte Google nameserver ist ein Privatsphere Albtraum.

In die meisten Falle ein bessere Lösung ist TOR Browser.
Nicht als Sicher einzustüfen, gibt aber nicht mehr macht an google, der CIA gegrundete surveillance monster.
Ich lese
Es ist wohl einfacher, einen eigenen Dienst anzubieten, anstatt mitzuhelfen, vorhandene Probleme zu lösen und den
klassischen DNS-Dienst sicherer zu machen. Google und seine Herren getrieben von Patriot Act wollen DNS nicht sicherer machen
sondern nützer Aktivität lückenlös verfolgen. Sicher ist Seehofers clan gleich mit von begeistert.

Es ist mit der Standard Netz Manager connmann nicht einfach DNS vorzugeben da es dhcp Auto discover verwendet.
Der Klassische etc/resolv.conf zeigt
# Generated by Connection Manager ist also dynamisch.
search home
nameserver 192.168.0.1
nameserver 2a02:8108:81c0:d48:de53:7cff:fe3d:14e4
ist also dynamisch.

Es sollte allerdings möglich sein in /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf ein Fixed adress anzugeben.
Es gab mehrfach posts in der Richtung DNS auch von meiner seite, ich hatte gerne immer Free DNS Server, andere höchstens
als option da ich es als besser passend zu antiX und Linux sehe.

Es gilt auch für eine vorgabe, wenn der Internet Provider mitspielt, Es ist nicht immer einfach das zu testen. Bei mein Kabel Netz,
von Vodafone betrieben nahezu unmöglich da man so ziemlich immer DNS Substitution und nur ein Exit Knoten IP sieht.
Möglicherweise ist das was sie jetzt sehen denn dns over HTTPS sollte unabhängig von der dns discover sein, sicher bin ich nicht.
